Hi All - I booked a GTY stateroom for our upcoming cruise - it's mid September - the reservation has to be paid in full at this point. I want to transfer the reservation to Costco so I had them add gratuity to make the reservation no longer paid in full. I called Costco to get the transfer in progress and he said it could take up to 3 days. I didn't want the reservation to go over night not fully paid because it clearly states the reservation must remain paid in full (and the agent on the phone told me she has seen reservations cancelled over $1). Does anyone have experience with this? If I add the gratuity the day I submit the Costco paperwork am I good to go or is this too risky? It's going to come out to almost $600 back if I can get it transferred.

Thanks for any assistance!

I don’t know the answer, but... If you made the reservation more than 30 days ago it cannot be transferred.

Let us know what happens. You've already initiated it and I think you're in uncharted waters here.

I'm not sure adding the gratuity makes it not paid in full. If you add any additional costs to a reservation after the PIF date, you have to pay them at the time, IMO because, as far as the computer payments are concerned, it's not paid in full yet.

It did though - at least in the sense the system reverted back to showing a balance due and the booking of tours and dinner became unavailable again. The when the agent asked me if I wanted to pay I said no. However, I read under the balance due, this reservation must be paid in full on June 29th - the day I booked the cruise. I’m thinking it’s too risky but I’m wondering if anyone has experience with the timing. Like it’s a 24 hour window or it cancels if you let it go over night.

I think that you are playing with fire at

Agreed. I had budgeted in the Costco cash card and exec cash back forgetting the pig aspect of the transfer. But at this point I’m
all in with airfare, etc so it’s prob not worth pursuing.

Yes, it shows you not paid in full. Since you aren't paid in full (after the PIF date) you could risk losing the reservation.

Why didn't you just get Costco to book it for you?

That’s exactly what I should have done on hindsight. I always booked direct so I just started off with the reservation as usual and thought I have 30 days to transfer it. Totally forgot the reservation couldn’t be paid in full. I might still try calling dcl until I get an agent that can tell me if I can somehow skate around this and make it work
