CR is by some margin the best QS in MK. I agree thatt he food in Peco's Bills often tastes strange. Plus, I can never get past the poor ventilation and low ceilings both there and at CHH. The smell hits you when you walk in, ven if you sit outside to eat, but the time you get your food, it's already ruined my appetite.
I also find something great about the retro-futuristic feel of SR's. It's a 'futurisitc-modern look as conceived in the 1960's/early 70's.' The retro irony is just fantastic.
I also think Ray is a plus. Much more interesting than the interior of the other two places I mentioned.
El P and P also has tasty taco food, but the menu is extremely limited.
At Ray's, we usually solve the mutli-line system dilemma by agreeing to limit ourselves to one line. Most often this is the burger line. Not that the burgers are fantastic, but the fixin's bar with it's sauteeed mushrooms and ketchup machines is kind of a tradition for us. Nowadays the ketchup machines are pretty standard QS fixtures at every roadside fastfood place, but WDW was the first place I saw them, many years ago...
Anyhow, if you go with small kids, the solution is simple: don't give them the full range of choices. Surely you know what your kids generally prefer to being with: chicken, burgers/dogs, or sandwiches. Let them choose from among just the sandwiches or between burgers and dogs or adjust what you'll have based on what they request, or - our personal favorite - go to the shortest line and pick from the choices at that bay. The quicker you get in and out the faster you are back on rides. Put it to kids in those terms and mostly they will understand. That's why SR is best- it's quick food at it's quickest. (Unless you happen to be at the far end of the park and walking to SR would be a pain.)
All that said...I whole heartedly agree that MK could use some better food choices, both QS and TS.
