Cosmic Ray's menu

I just imagine my kids ages 5, 7, 9 and a tired wife wouldn't do to well with me going through multiple lines to get everyones food. Maybe we'll give it a try if it isn't busy or when the kids get older so they can either wait by themselves at the table or go through the lines on their own.

We just go to CHH unless I get a craving for a burger. If so we go to Pecos Bills. No way am I standing in more than one line.

Put me in the like it group.
We almost always stop in at least once a trip.
It's the same burger as any other in MK but you get a little lounge show to with it.
Kids love it.

Then again we're smart enough to eat early or late and avoid the mad rush.
In which case anyplace too busy we avoid.

Favorite Joke from Sunny...
"I never knew what happiness was untill I got married,
but they then it was too late."

We love Cosmic Ray's. We have never had any issues with ordering except it annoys me they always close the blasted salad and chicken bays during Magic Hours and parties since I always order from the salad bay. Just have to remember to go early enough.

Pecos Bill's, on the other hand, we threw away everything we bought there, and one of our party was 16 year old DS that will usually eat ANYTHING that doesn't eat him first. The burgers and fries were awful. I keep reading on the boards that some people say it's their favorite place to eat so maybe we caught it on a bad day---but I'll never know because it was so bad we won't even give it a second chance. Electric Umbrella too...it smelled so bad of pinesol we couldn't even eat.

have to plan what you want and split into teams to get it all in cosmic rays :D just don't sit near the god annoying singing alien.

we go there JUST FOR Sonny Eclipse! love him. just another "extra". my boys were teens and thought he was very funny.

we love the toppings bar, also. the chicken and ribs were very good. but we thought we could split it, and the chicken comes in one big piece. ho well.

we also love columbia harbor, pecos bills and casey's corner. love El prita etc. etc (whenever it's open.)

I can see how the "food court" ayout of cosmic rays might be hard on families with little kids. otherwise, we really like it.

Weird as it may seem, Cosmic Ray's is one of my favorite restaurants at WDW. My last trip was all full service restaurants because I was on the deluxe dining plan, but I still made time for it. I think the setup is great and I actually make sure I go at off-times so I can snag a table by Sunny Eclipse. :goodvibes

We eat there everytime but I could see how it would be difficult with young children.

Have to agree about Pecos Bills...The 1st time we ate there it was great. The last 2 times were TERRIBLE..The food had a weird taste one time and was still partially frozen the next.Everything from the condiment bar to the tables were a MESS.We are diehard Cosmic Rays or Columbia Harbor House fans!

I like CR because it is a welcome departure from the usual greasy fare served at most of the cs places. The Turkey bacon wrap is nice, cool and fresh on a hot day!

We also love Cosmic Rays! I can see how it would be problematic with little ones, though. But we always have enough teen to adults to make it not a problem to us.

And Sonny Eclipse is the best!!!

My husband and I like eating there because we like wraps and salads and that bay always has the shortest lines. Takes us 5 mins to get food while the crowds are lined up at the burgers. :thumbsup2

But finding a table in peak times... oy.

Our first day at WDW was at MK. I lost my fiance in Cosmic Rays. By the time I found him my hot dog was cold, and I'd lost my appetite in the worry.

can't say that it has ever been a problem for us. but we also do WDW during the less crowded seasons.

Yeah, I agree! We love Harbor House! We always stop and eat there every trip. And Ray's. I like El Pirata y Perrico too but we have only caught it open twice. I wish it was open more. We usually go at off times so we miss it most of the time. Another must-have for us is a Mickey Waffle with powdered sugar at Sleepy Hollow, it's a perfect snack while waiting for a parade! :)

In all my trips to WDW, I only saw El Pirata open 2x.I wish it were open more too

We love cosmic ray's--mainly because you CAN get different things, not just burgers. The lines really don't take very long. Glad to hear some of you avoid it. Makes it easier and faster for us. We even like the singing alien.

That's the way we feel as well, the service is fast for a place so big. We just split up if we want things from other bays.

CR is by some margin the best QS in MK. I agree thatt he food in Peco's Bills often tastes strange. Plus, I can never get past the poor ventilation and low ceilings both there and at CHH. The smell hits you when you walk in, ven if you sit outside to eat, but the time you get your food, it's already ruined my appetite.

I also find something great about the retro-futuristic feel of SR's. It's a 'futurisitc-modern look as conceived in the 1960's/early 70's.' The retro irony is just fantastic.

I also think Ray is a plus. Much more interesting than the interior of the other two places I mentioned.

El P and P also has tasty taco food, but the menu is extremely limited.

At Ray's, we usually solve the mutli-line system dilemma by agreeing to limit ourselves to one line. Most often this is the burger line. Not that the burgers are fantastic, but the fixin's bar with it's sauteeed mushrooms and ketchup machines is kind of a tradition for us. Nowadays the ketchup machines are pretty standard QS fixtures at every roadside fastfood place, but WDW was the first place I saw them, many years ago...

Anyhow, if you go with small kids, the solution is simple: don't give them the full range of choices. Surely you know what your kids generally prefer to being with: chicken, burgers/dogs, or sandwiches. Let them choose from among just the sandwiches or between burgers and dogs or adjust what you'll have based on what they request, or - our personal favorite - go to the shortest line and pick from the choices at that bay. The quicker you get in and out the faster you are back on rides. Put it to kids in those terms and mostly they will understand. That's why SR is best- it's quick food at it's quickest. (Unless you happen to be at the far end of the park and walking to SR would be a pain.)

All that said...I whole heartedly agree that MK could use some better food choices, both QS and TS.

We went there for the first time last Oct during MNSSHP and it is now my favorite cs place in MK!! I loved the alien and the food was very good for cs.

We love Cosmic Ray's--the food (chicken & ribs combo and fixings bar with sauteed mushrooms), the drinks (the iced cappuccino) and even the singing alien. We split up to order and it all works out somehow.

My only complaint is the tiny tables. We can always find plenty of chairs, but those itty bitty tables are a pain.
