We are going Spring break, no plans to cancel at all, they say the majority of people want even know there sic.
relax enjoy your trip, you stand a much greater chance of having some other acciden. Or just catching the flu

With the amount of advance planning and cost that can go into a Disney va-k, I'd have to actually have COVID 19 in order to abort. And if the plane seating charts from EWR this week and next are any indication, no one is altering plans in my neck of the woods. 'Course, that could change and sure there's probably a small % that are backing out or just not going now.

I just returned from a day at Hollywood Studios. MMRR by the way was amazing!!!

Here are my thoughts after spending the day in the park:

The park was jammed packed all day. 5 hour wait this morning for MMRR. I know the face masks do nothing but I did NOT see one person wearing a mask. I would of thought I would of atleast seen a couple. They have put hand sanitizer stations as soon as you walk into every place to eat. For myself, I am at the World once a month, and this was the first time I really was conscious about what I touched and not touching my face and using my hand sanitizer and washing my hands often.

That being said, I was with a couple of people today and after spending the day there and seeing the scene we all said the same thing, I would be VERY SHOCKED if they completely closed down Disney World. Again, IMO I just don't see it happening. Remember Disney World has NEVER completely shut down. Yes after 9/11 and during hurricanes the parks closed but just the parks and NEVER all the hotels. The logistical nightmare of emptying all the parks and all the hotels would be a disaster. Can you imagine Disney saying to people goodbye you have to go. Where they going? Who is paying for them to leave? There would literally be riots.

For Disney World to completely close, the US would have to be in the most dire of dire situations. I mean so dire that the CDC actually telling people to stay home and not go into their workplaces. If it came to that, then I could see them closing the entire place down. And even then it would take a week or so to empty all those hotel rooms.

Just my opinion

Anyone changing their vacations in light of the Corona Virus? Does being in large crowds with people from all over the world touching the handrails, the attraction lap bars and handrails, wearing glasses and such worry you at all? Will you pack a large supply of hand sanitizer and just go? We are going for Easter but may skip the parks and just hang at our rental. Not sure yet. Curious what others are doing.
We’re driving over for the day tomorrow. I’m 33 weeks pregnant and only slightly worried. I’ll wash my hands and use hand sanitizer when necessary.

Until something happens, happy travels everyone.
Hopefully, the magic is still the same even with the virus thing going on.

As things are happening these days, though, it seems to only take one affected individual to turn things upside down.
If you’ll remember, Disney Shanghai was shut down when there were less than 1,000 cases (now at over 80,000 cases) in a province over 500 miles away. In America, businesses and schools are already shutting down even with just one confirmed individual being exposed—not even testing positive—to someone that did test positive.

From what they gather it's an upper respiratory system virus so it can be dangerous for those who are elderly, very young, and have compromised systems already. What turns deadly in the few is the pneumonia developed and not enough breathing tubes to go around for that. That seems to be the case in China so far but they also have poorer lung systems due to the heavy pollution in the air and the overcrowding. Here in the states we have far more area spread out so it'll probably hit major cities but our healthcare should be able to cover it

I agreed with this until we saw the unusually high death rate in Italy. With the extreme reactions in government to this I’m beginning to wonder if this is more serious than has been reported

I'm gonna have to look at that because that is concerning. Highly doubt it has mutated at this point but virus can do that pretty quickly though

It's not that much higher. It's at 3.5% and rest of the word is 3.4%. Italy is the oldest population in Europe. So it makes sense they would be slightly higher than average

The median age in Italy is 47.3. Compared to the US at 38.3

We booked a May trip in late January. I keep going back and forth about keeping the trip. On one hand I think meh it's ok, just wash your hands and watch where you touch. But we will fly and I have no control over who will be sitting around me-but then I think about it and well I never have had that control, so...

I've heard that if it's like flu, then the warmth and humidity could help make it die out some-if that's the case, seems like FL is a perfect place to be.

Italy also has surprisingly poor air quality.

It's not so much the heat that will make it die but the UV from the sun will. As we get closer to summer the UV from the sun gets stronger and that helps kill bacterias and viruses.

Disney has also begun "stringent" disinfection practices. So they're definitely taking precautions. (see link below) Just keep in mind wash your hands, try and avoid touching your face and others, if you are ill do not come to Disney (not just talking COVID but the flue, etc.) And if you have a cough, wear a mask so your cough doesn't go elsewhere (again not for COVID per se but in general illness). Remember this virus is different than the flue for example, it's not airborne in the sense of the flue, it spreads from close contact (less than six feet) between people or through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It's most transmissible by symptomatic people. It may be possible for spread from non-symptomatic people or through surfaces but this is not considered the main ways. (all info from CDC btw).

Also as multiple medical professionals and doctors have stressed, if you're going to wear a mask then do so to keep from touching your face, but the ones who actually should wear those masks are health care workers dealing with the ill, and those actually sick. Wearing masks just because of fear/worry is part of what's leading to shortages for those who actually need them, and will not actually necessarily keep you from getting sick. https://**************.net/2020/03/...cklFQmm7Wcjq-zrryGYVjwjevVmbSfJJdRx-xdPhCktM8

Let's just close the borders and quarantine everyone in their house for 2 weeks. That will solve everything.

I am curious if those who have visited in the last couple of weeks have noticed a drop off in crowd levels compared to other recent trips?

We were planning to go this weekend, but decided we didn't really want to take the plane at this point (wish we could drive) and cancelled. On Touring Plans, I looked at what they projected versus what was experienced and there is a very large difference (10 vs. 1, 8 vs. 2, etc.).

I want to know if there will be promotions and free discounts for Disney parks.

Touring Plans shows their estimates were quite higher than actual crowds yesterday for all parks. For DHS they predicted 10, actual crowd level 1! That’s quite a difference. But was DHS actually a 1 yesterday?
