Hi! Could you give any thoughts on the Coronado....what you like, what you didn't, what we can't miss....

Thanks!!

The theming is great at this resort. We have stayed there several times including for a convention.

Pros: Lots of quiet pools, Mayan main pool, good food court, nice store and the transportation is pretty good. We also love to walk the resort in the evening.

Cons: Very large resort w/almost 2000 rms, They surround a lake so depending on where your room is you may have a walk to the main bldg. Popular convention hotel and there sit down restaurant has a minimul menu.

You might want to request the Casitas or the Cabanas on your resv. These bldgs are close to the main bldg.

I acutally think the food court is a con if you are with young kids. You have to drag them from station to station and you can't get everything in one place. The food is fresh but takes a while to prepare. I like the more traditional food courts.

We spent 16 days at csr during one of the busiest times in disney. Dec 19-jan 3. We loved everytihg about the resort. Quick and plesant check in We asked for Ranchos and were given ranchos with a pool view which was an upgrade for us. The walk to Elcentro was no long at all ( nice after diner to work off the calories) We loved the dig site the pool slide was a favorite of my fathers. There is a arcade by the pool it was smaller than the one at el centro but was nice when we did our laundry and didn't want to go to far . The pepper market was our favorite. We don't know why some people don't like it there is everything to choose from here. I have to say we were early risers and never had a crowd for breakfst but on christmas day we got up later and noticed a little more of a crowd.also we ate later and missed the diner crowd. Loved the waiters they were always right there when our mugs were empty to fill it back up. We were there for a while and got to know some of the staff and they were so nice. The gift store was were we did all our shopping we spent our fisrt day there running from park to park looking for a jacket for my mother it ended up being in our hotel gift shop. Also it was my mothers birthday and trip for surviving open heart surgery we has baloon delivered when checking in and on her birthday. We love this resort and will go back and vistit I am sure :moped:

Very beautiful resort. Very spread out. I did not like the food court. The food was not bad I just didn't like the way it was set up. I heard other people complaining about that as well. It wouldn't stop me from staying there though. :)

I have stayed at CSR three times. We think it's very nice, and I can't think of anything negative to say about it.:earsboy:

CSR is a great resort. Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

We loved it! The pool is gorgeous. The resort very relaxing. It was not so rushed as the other Disney resorts we've tried. It was more upscale than the other moderates.

We stayed there about 2yrs ago. We had no idea where we were going to stay until we arrived to Disney. Yes, we were taking our chances. But, DH did not like the offsite hotel that I had booked, SOOOOO.......it lead us to a ressie at CSR. We were pleasantly surprised how nice it really is. The rooms were okay and the grounds were beautiful. The Pepper Mkt was good because of the selection-especially with children. I really enjoyed my stay and I will return there! You won't be sorry!

I love Coronado  It is my favorite moderate resort! (Haven't stayed at French Qtr yet, under refurb when I wanted to stay).

I love the pool it was very neat and so HUGE! I loved the food court, because you can mix and match.

Definatly my favorite moderate so far! ::yes::

I really love this place! I have to admit, it's the only on-site hotel I've stayed at:rolleyes: - but I have no urge to try a different moderate. Until we joined DVC! Now we have a new home at SSR - but we will have to visit CSR, it'll always be a little home to us.

I like the selection of the Pepper Market. Nothing like having an egg roll and pasta! Beautiful grounds, great theming, and I have to agree with polkadotminnie - its very relaxing. You get enough Disney from the parks, this is a nice break.

If you go, you have to rent bikes and ride around CSR, you can't appreciate it unless you do!

We are staying in May. I have 2 dd's (2 & 4).

I heard a rumor that they don't allow double riders on the slide. So they won't let parents ride w/ younger children? I don't know if dd's are brave enough to go down by themselves.

Thanks,
Jennifer

They don't allow double riders. Do it once and the lifeguard will tell you not to do it but at least your DD will get the feel for the slide. Sit up and it will slow you down but lay back and you go like a rocket.

People always say that CSR is spread out, but I've stayed at all 3 moderates and I don't find it to be any more spread out than POR or CBR  And of course, the resorts always feels more spread out towards the end of the trip when your feet are dead ;)

:D

I loved the CSR when I stayed there in 2002. I stayed in the Ranchose section and loved it. It's the farthest section from El Centro, but the walk in the morning to breakfast was peaceful and I made sure to feed the ducks every day. The Dig Site is awesome and it's easy to feel like a kid again going down that long slide.

My only con for the resort is the Pepper Market. I didn't like the method of paying and the food wasn't all that great to begin with. However, I didn't eat many meals there, so it didn't really matter.

I would definitely stay there in the future after I have stayed at all the other resorts that I want to stay at.

There always has to be one of us to go against the grain. I will never stay at CSR ever again. We have had bad experiences at resorts before but my stay at CSR gets the trophy. The grounds are beautiful and the architecture is great... but rooms needed to be redone, when we arrived the women checking us in walked away without saying anything... then came back, 15 min later, and told me that she saw that I had sent in a room request and that "they really don't like people doing that." Then she just looked at me. I was only staying there for 2 nights before leaving to sail in the keys then I was coming back and staying at AKL. She asked me why I wasn't just staying at AKL before and after. When we got to our room the beds were made, the hand towels were hung... just like the maid had been there, but the TV was on there was coffee brewing and there were snacks on the bed. The maid was in the bathroom and completely panicked when she came out. We called down to the front desk and who do I happen to get, the same lady that checked us in. She said she would take care of it but we would need to leave our room. So we left and went to dinner and then I played 9 holes. When we went back nothing had been done. I called again and they told me they would be right down, but no one came till the next day and still not until I had called. When we got back there was a pile of dust and dead bugs swept into the corner of the bathroom. We were upset that all of this happened and even when we asked politely for someone to come clean things up we got nothing not even a small "sorry". OH and that pot of coffee stayed there both days we were there, I left it because I had told them about it and I wanted to see if they were listening to me or just trying to blow me off. Needless to say it left a bad taste in my mouth and CSR is completely ruined for me... totally an isolated incident I hope...
