We have stayed at PO Riverside and CB, and this August we are going to be staying at the CS. Can anyone advise me if we've made a good decision? Usually we scope out the next resort we are planning to stay at , thought we did not do this with thr CR. I've never seen the resort. Is it as nice as the other moderates? How about the theming? Also, What is the best location to stay within the resort? Any information anyone could give me would be much appreciated. Than You in Advance !!: Pinkbounc

I would stay at CSR hands down before returning to POR.
There seems to a mix of good/bad posts on the Pepper Market. We liked and appreciated it. Just depends what you are looking for in food and service.
We would not hesitate to stay there again.

Great theming, its beautiful during the day and night.

Food court (called The Pepper Market) is great. A lot of variety.

Good choice

Hi! CSR was the only moderate we've stayed at, but it definitely had a more adult feel than the All Stars. That may be just b/c we were there at the time of a big convention, but almost everyone we saw was an adult, which we really appreciated. It was much less noisy overall than the All Stars.
We were NOT fans of the food court; overpriced for poor quality. We get better tasting burgers from McDonald's for literally 1/2 the cost. But it was different, so we tried it, and I'd say not liking it definitely didn't add to our stay. We're not big food court eaters anyway; we're at Disney for the amazing cuisine, so don't want fast food while we're there.
We stayed in Casitas 4, and had a room with a king bed facing the pool. As far as what sections we liked the best, I think that the Cabanas were my favorite, Casitas 2nd, Ranchos a distant 3rd. They looked very dry and arid; I definitely preferred the beach by the Cabanas, with those nice secluded hammocks.
Cheers!

We stayed at this resort the year it opened. We did not like it. It was our first moderate, however, and that may have clouded our opinion. We have stayed at PO FQ since that time and we all really liked PO.

What we did not like-

This resort is very spread out and walking anywhere took a long time. We were in Casitas 1 and it was at least 10 min to the Pepper Market.

We got bored of the food at Pepper Market pretty quickly.

We had trouble with the plumbing in our bathroom and had to have them come and plunge twice.

That said, our favorite place to stay is the WL. Hands down. We like the inside corridors and the relaxing atmosphere. You can sit in the lobby and you have many things to do and see within a few steps. At the CS each thing was very far apart and hence harder on us, having arthritis and some mobility issues.

We enjoyed our stay in June. We have stayed in PO Riverside before and liked CSR better because the rooms were a little bigger. We were in Cabana 8B and find it very convenient to the pool and bus stop. The walk to the Pepper Market was not bad either.

Our family loves CSR. My DD loves the pool area and slide. We all love the pepper Market. Remember, its not an ordinary food court. Food choices from Italian, Chinese, Mexican, Steak to burgers, soups and salads. It has about edvery choice you can imagine. The bus service is exceptional.

Check out our website below

Have a great trip!

We also truly enjoy CSR. I think the Cabanas are the most convenient to both El Centro and the Dig Site. That also lets you admire the Casitas from across the lake -- they are very beautiful, at night especially.

The pool and hot tub are huge and never seem crowded. I dont' think we ever saw anyone in the quiet pools. The grounds (IMHO) are very nice to walk around -- or bike if you prefer.

We liked the Pepper Market. The only people I can see that would really find it inconvenient are people with small children that have to order for them and then also for themselves. The food is kinda spread out in different stations, so you don't necessarily move through at the same speed. Our kids were old enough to forage on their own, so we liked being able to go directly to what we wanted -- we thought the wait times were shorter than other places we stayed. Remember that a 10% gratuity will be added to your bill for 'modified table-service' -- if you didn't receive table service, have them remove the 10% at check-out.

The Ranchos really are quite a walk to the main building. I'd do what I could to get Cabanas or Casitas if you don't enjoy the walk.

All in all, it's one of our favorite resorts. I haven't stayed at PO though. We were going to this fall, but in the end we went back to CSR... Hope you enjoy it too!

Stayed once also-it was very nice. Beautiful, clean, a little spread out.

We stayed at CSR last Oct. we truly loved it. The themeing was wonderful. THe CMs were there at a drop of a hat for extra towels or getting a dining ps. We had wonderful service and a very relaxing time. We where in the Cabanas and just a few feet from the Dig Site. We have fireworks at nite over the water which was beautiful. We had to walk just behind our building for the bus which was seldom packed. It ran alot to various places. The food court has it hits and misses. They all do. The portions there are huge. I got a steak which filled up my platter. Very good. Also the bakery items were excellent. We had breakfast at Maya Grill for buffet. This kept us full until dinner. We had a excellent time. It definately seemed more adult than PO or CBR. But it was just my DH and I. So that was fine. GO! You will have a wonderful time.

We have stayed at PO, Dixie, when it was still named Dixie, WL, OKW, BWV, and CSR. CSR was our least favorite of them all. Thats not to say we didn't enjoy our stay. The hotel is beautiful. The theming is great, and we loved the pool. We didn't mind eating at Pepper Market. I did think the full service restaurant was a little pricey compared to the other moderates. Our only complaint was that it didn't have the same relaxing qualities as the other resorts. I think that was due to the convention center located there. There always seemed to be groups of people rushing around carrying briefcases, and acting as though we were in their way. I guess I just didn't feel it was as friendly there as at the other resorts we have stayed at.

Hi. We have stayed at CSR two times. It is my favorite resort so far out of CBR, WL, and POR (Dixie Landings and Port Orleans.) The bus service can not be beat. I really like the Pepper Market (love the taco salad.)

We have visited all the WDW resorts. We eat there and also use their transportation. I find the boats and monorails (although fun)very slow and the shared busses very crowded. I think it stinks that the deluxe resorts SHARE busses! Except for AKL -their busses are direct. We are debating where to stay this November and we like the Poly, Cont. and BW or Beach Club. I find it hard to give up the great price and transportation at the CSR though:) I am also wary of the Beach Club Villas opening and crowding the pool and restaurants at the Beach Club and BW. I like AKL and we got a great postcard rate $119- but my husband thinks it is too dark. The postcard was only good till 10/2 though:(

We have stayed at each of the moderates. I would stay at CSR again in a heartbeat! I never noticed a lot of conventioneers. We have stayed in Casitas 3 & 5. I did not request any particular section.

We really enjoyed our meals at Maya's Grille - service & food were both top notch. On our last stay our table overlooked the water. Half way through we got MK fireworks off in the distance - very nice touch! We ate at the Pepper Market late one night just before closing - we got more than enough to eat - the CMs were VERY generous with the portions rather than throw out the leftover food. We didn't pay the surcharge since we were taking the food back to our room.

If anyone had ever told me I would really like a resort with a Southwestern US/Mexican theme, I would have said you were crazy. However, I love the theme, bright vibrant colors, etc. CMs have always been friendly & helpful.

Have fun & enjoy!

Westayed there a few years ago and liked it.As a matter-of-fact, we are looking to book there again for January 2003. Food court was OK. They had a great breakfast buffet at the Maya Grill when we were there...don't know if that still goes on now though.

Thank You so much for all of the valuable information!! I only discovered this board on Saturday night, I read about it in Rita Aero's guide book. Already I have had three questions answered. I am amazed that there are actually people out there who are as wild about Disney as my family is. I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time here as I plan for my next vacation to WDW in August.
Thanks Again!!!!

We went to CS a couple of weeks ago just to eat at the Pepper Market. It was a BEAUTIFUL resort! I think you will be very happy! It does look really spread out but as far as the look of it we thought it was great! The Pepper Market was very good too! Have fun!

Those of you who have stayed at CSR-- could you compare the distance of Ranchos to the Pepper Market in comparison to Jaimaica and the food court at CBR? We stayed in Jamaica last year at CBR and didn't feel like the walk was that far--in fact we and the kids enjoyed it!! I'm just afraid that Ranchos is way out there like as far as Trinidad South in CBr??

I'd appreciate anyone who has stayed both places providing some input ==please!

I have stayed at CBR, CSR, POR, and WL and my favourite resort is CSR, closely followed by CBR, closely followed by WL but I disliked POR (just my opinion) Anyways I am SOOOO happy to finally see a thread saying GOOD things about CSR, I have read lots of complaints about it and I have never had one, I have stayed there 5 times and am returning next August.

To answer your question karen the Ranchos are VERY far away from the Pepper Market and somewhat close to the pool. There isn't anything like Parrot Cay (the island in the middle of the lake at CBR that makes life easier to get to the food court) I would guess it would take a good 15 to 20 minutes to walk to the Pepper Market from the Ranchos.

I would reccommend staying in the Cabanas 9B, which is very close to the pool and about 5 minutes from the Pepper Market
Or Casitas 3 because it has an AMAZING view and is VERY close to the food court but about 10 minutes from the pool

Hope you enjoy your vacation and hope I helped you :)

The walkway around Lago Dorado is .9 miles. Most people can walk a mile in under 15 minutes. You'll be only walking in one direction from the ranchos to the main building or less than a 1/2 mile. It is no longer than a 10 minute walk. It really isn't that far, espeically if you walk from the ranchos through the cabanas to the main building. It is longer if you go through the casitas.

Cabana 9b would be the closest to everything.

CS has the best pool, except for Stormalong Bay, and a huge jacuzzi. We enjoyed having a coffee maker in the room aslo.
The shuttle they offer to the Boardwalk was a very nice extra touch, we had alot of fun there at night.
