hi there,

we are planning a trip in september 2013 and we are contemplating between Coronado springs resort and Caribbean beach resort.

which one is preferable?

Is there one closer to the parks ? or better amenities or dining options?

does anyone know why coronado springs is more expensive the caribbean beach?

thanks

There are threads for each specific resort on this board. I would spend time on both. We stayed in CSR in June and cbr in April. We really liked both resorts. To me, it depends on the make up of your group. We have young children so for now, cbr is our preference. If we had older kids (pretense and up) or if it was just adults, then we would choose CSR.

I give CSR the better food options (but some people do not). We found the TS restaurant here excellent (one of the better meals have ever had on WDW property) and we really liked the food options at the pepper market. The grounds are very pretty and relaxing and it has 3 distinct areas that are very different. We liked the looks of all 3 but some have very strong preferences. It is a convention resort and some people do not like seeing people walk around in suits and such. This didn't bother us. Bus service was adequate. I have seen people say that the buses here don't get crowded. That was not our experience. The rooms are beautiful with queen beds but they do not have a lot of Disney in them, more like a normal hotel look. My DH thought they looked like the newer holiday inn express hotels we have been staying recently and I would agree (that is a compliment btw). The pool is what turned us off. It is not young child friendly, deep, no zero entry, very simple wading pool for little kids. I understand the slide is good and quick but my kids are too young for that.

Now, for cbr, the grounds to us were fantastic. Very tranquil and relaxing and even though the resort was at capacity, it never felt crowded. It is a large resort for sure but we stayed in the building fear these from the amenities and it was a leisurely 7-10 minute walk max. The food court was typical and fine. We didn't try the TS restaurant. Bus service was adequate. We stayed in one of the pirate rooms and it was great. We loved it. I can't comment on the regular rooms but a negative for some is that cbr only has full sized beds, no queens. The pool really won us over. It has a fantastic play area, pirate ship themed, for children under 48" tall, and is gated. The main pool is zero entry, great theming, and has two slides. We spent a lot of time here. We had very low expectations going in as I have read all kinds of terrible reviews on these boards about cbr. We came out wanting to stay here again and have referred friends here as well.

I have no idea why one is higher in price. I on't think you could go wrong with either. If you have any other specific questions abo either resort I would be glad to help.

We are going in November and booked last week for CBR, but still not sure if we should go to CSR. It was $60 more expensive to go to CSR. Glad you posted this, because I have questions also. We have a 2 year old, that will almost be 3. I'm curious to which resort is better for younger kids.

We've never stayed at CSR, but we loved CBR. We thought the grounds were beautiful, the pool was fun, the food court was good, and the bus transportation was great. I would look at the FAQ threads of each resort as the pp suggested and go with the one that appeals to you the most. Good luck.

Since we've never stayed at CSR I can't comment on that resort, but I think your little one would love the pool at CBR. Our CBR stay was quite some time ago (2002) and our DSs loved the pool, which has since been redone. It was great when we stayed there, but from the pics I've seen of it redone, they did a great job keeping it a fun pool for kids, IMO :goodvibes.

We have stayed at both, and both are great resorts. We just like the theme and setting of CSR better. I think the bus service is better at CSR because it is located out by itself. CBR is buried in the busiest traffic area on property.

If it matters to you (it does to me), CSR is the only moderate with a gym/health club.

I like the theming at both about the same but I give CSR the edge due to the beds.

The search button is your friend. There is probably 20 threads asking this exact same question from this month alone.

Since I haven't replied on any of the other 20 threads I'll thrown my 2 cents in here.
I've never stayed at CSR for 2 reasons. 1 sink vs. 2 at CBR and a desk vs. a table and 2 chairs at CBR. CSR has the advantage of queen beds but the rooms at CBR are cheaper and bigger.

if you have young childfren CBR wouldprobalby be the better choice for the reasons stated above...pool, themeing (especially if you book a pirate room!) etc.

I alway sfeel like CSR, while it is a lovely resort and my favorite moderate, it a bit more adult-oriented. No that I haven't seen kids there having a ball, but it just always struck me as a bit more adult.

We are going this Oct, stayed here 5 years ago and loved it! Stayed at CBR 2 years ago for something different, it was awful....staued first week in Dec, it was a cold week, no fault of the resort, of course. Here was the issues: bed bugs, loud air conditioner, polyester bed spreads, small food court, and check in was kind of weird, in another building, so if you had issues, it was a long walk to visit the manager....never used the buses, had a rental car. But, the CSR, it just so nice all around for everything, please go there, you won't be disappointed.
Stayed at POR three times, loved the grounds and boat ride to DTD.

We were headed to CBR in January but chose CSR simply for the difference of the Queen beds. And the beds at CSR were VERY comfy last year. But with one running full & half marathons & 2 running 1/2, the extra room for resting comfort was the determining factor. We did however book a preferred room this time (we were at the very back last year).

Me, being the lazy non-runner, wanted POFQ, lol.
