I was debating between staying at either Port Orleans French Quarter or Coronado Springs for my next trip and am wondering if CS is really spread out? I've stayed at both the Riverside and CBR and really dislike both for other reasons, but mainly because it was just way too spread out for my taste. Will I like CS or should I switch to POFQ? This is a solo trip, so I'd like a room that is close to the main lobby, food court & bus stop. Which building would you stay in? I know that CS draws convention folks. Does it still have that Disney feeling or more of a convention hotel? How is the bus service? What about the food court?

CSR is very spread out. There really isn't a room that is close to everthing. That said, I really like CSR. We have stayed at CSR, CBR, POR and WL. CSR is my personal favorite, kids too. But if what you really disliked about CBR and POR was their size then CSR probably isn't for you. If you are looking for small the POFQ is probably the way to go in terms of a moderate resort.

I haven't stayed at CSR but have heard it is quite spread out with no one building being close to everything.

We loved POFQ. No matter where you are it isn't that far to get to the center where everything is located. We were in building #1 and loved it. However if you want to be close to everything go with building # 4 or # 3.

I too have heard that CSR is very spread out, but still booked it for my trip in July with DBF. We are both VERY active and into exercise, so walking is not an issue for us. I debated staying at POFQ, but heard bad things about it, especially the food situation (the hotel not having its own full service restaurant, just a food court) and also heard the food court is rather small and gets very crowded.

Aside from all the walking at CSR, is it still a nice place to stay???

I have only stayed at CSR once, and while it was spread out, I liked it better than CBR-that place is HUGE! :sad2: If I had to choose between the 2, I would pick CSR...there is a lot of info on both resorts, here on this board. I would stay in the building closest to the main building/food court area. I believe its called "casitas." ;)

We have stayed at POFQ twice and we stayed at CSR for the first time last memorial day weekend. We did not care for the CSR due to it being spread out. If we had to pick between CSR and POFQ we would reconmend POFQ.

If this helps, CBR is set around a 45 acre lake and CSR is spread out around a 15 acre lake.

CSR is Great!!!!

Terk1, if you stay in the Casitas 1, it is the closest to the main building, which is the Pepper Market, Mayan Grill.
The Pepper Market has a wide variety of foods, prepared/cooked right there in front of you as you wait.
The bus service is the best by far. It only serves the CSR, so you don't share the bus with anyother resort.
As far a being bothered by the convention center, don't worry about it. We have stayed with several big conventions and never had a problem.
This is a beautiful resort, spread out? If that's what you want to call it. But if you stay in the Casitas 1 or Cabana 9's, the so called 'spread out' feeling won't even effect you.

I have been at CSR twice and it feels much more spread out than CBR. I don't like that at CSR the pool is on one side the food court on the other.

Dizkidz2---thanks!! I was starting to think I had made a bad choice due to the fact that the resort is "spread out", but I really don't mind that at all. CSR seems so beautiful and peaceful, a nice rest from the busy parks. I am also going in July, which I read isn't a big convention month.

It is not spread out IMO. We love the place. The rooms we have stayed in were all of a 3-5 minute walk to the front lobby area.

We stayed there in 2003. We were in the Ranchos section (all the way in the back). We were far from the restaurants which made the refillable mug useless cause it was just easier to go to the vending machine. We were only a few minutes from our bus stop and we were the closest to the main pool. The resort is large and spread out, but it was very beautiful. I'm use to staying in Deluxe resorts so I was constantly comparing it to that which isn't a fair way to judge it cause it is a moderate. IMO, I wouldn't stay there again. We just didn't care for it.

We stayed there in December... That place is HUGE!! We stayed in the Ranchos section... building 7A. While we were very close to a bus stop (and the bus service was great :sunny: ), we were so very far from the main building it was ridiculous! The first evening after returning from the parks, we got off the bus at the main entrance to stop in the gift shop. We thought we'd walk back to our room... It took a good 20 minutes - at least. I know this may sound lazy, but the next night I ended up driving to the gift shop. After walking ALL DAY LONG at 3 different parks, I was not about to walk another 20 minutes (there and back) just to buy some Tylenol and a Diet Coke. :sad2:

In general, I really liked the resort. It was quiet and beautiful and the bus service was excellent. In the future, I would stay there again only IF I was guaranteed a room much much closer than where we stayed. If you don't mind that long of a walk to the main building (which has the food and front desk and gift shop), then this place would be for you.

...I've been bitten by the "DeLuXe BUG", so I am REALLY spoiled! However, I have stayed at CBR, CSR, DxL, and visited POFQ, and I'd have to say that CBR is speard out Wa-a-a-a-a-y more than CSR! (also: JMHO - I like the theming of CSR!)

When I arrived at CSR (in the lobby) and looked out across the lake at the main pool, my first thought was, "This isn't spread out. The pool is RIGHT THERE!" I walked all the around the place twice that day because it was sooooo beautiful. POFQ is really nice-the only thing I did not like was the pool area-nice if you have little kids, but CSR's pool is more appropriate for an adult traveling alone.

I have always wanted to stay at CSR, after reading all the posts, I may book.I have any one question, do you have to pay a sur-charge to use the food court?

There is a mandatory 10% tip. They seat you and bring your drinks for that. People say if you don't receive good service you can ask to have it taken off. I don't think it should be mandatory.

You will get others that tell you then to eat the food outside. That isn't the solution either.

yes, CSR does charge a 10% tip for the servers at the Pepper Market. They bring your drinks, refills, clear your table and bring you any condiments you would like.

Ok, let's not blow this out of proportion. It might take you 20 minutes to walk around the entire lake, but it does not take anyone 20 minutes to walk from El Centro just to their room, unless you've got kids running everyplace, you've got an electric wheelchair that has no juice, or other circumstances involved.
