This is TOTALLY helpful! Thx so much!:flower3: Exactly what I am looking for. We do not find any of the Poly walks long but many people think it is so speadout--just like people say about CSR. The longest walk we have had at Poly was from Aotearoa to the TTC. We stayed at YC last time and the walk from YC to Epcot FutureWorld in the morning was too much for DD9 who has some special needs. it led to early morning magical meltdowns which is no fun for anybody:sad2: The distances you speak of sound very reasonable. I think we would be fine as long as we are not in Ranchos. They do not appeal to me due to theme and location.

We were in 8A, it was a hop skip or jump to the Dig Site. My son has endurance issues, and he could not walk to and from our building to the main building. One direction he was fine, but not both.

One thing we noticed about CSR, you can drive to the main building and the fitness center. But you can't really drive to the main pool.

There is a way to work the bus system too, to get from one part of the resort to the other.

Where can I get some real coffee at CSR - not Nescafe? I heard cappuccino mentioned a while ago too. :)

I don't drink coffee; I go to the Pepper Market every morning and gat a cappucino (they also have lattes, etc.); they are pretty darn good too. :thumbsup2

I just got back from CSR this week. I loved our stay there, and will stay there again without hesitation!! I loved the queen beds, being able to get a microwave. I love the grounds. The dig site's playground in unparalled to any other resort's at WDW. My trip report is in my signature.
Awesome! Thanx for the reassurance!

You ABSOLUTELY made the right decision! In 2008, my large family had a Grand Gathering and we booked three rooms at Wilderness Lodge. At the last minute, extra family members hopped on board, but Wilderness Lodge didn't have availabilty, but CSR did. Wanting to be together, we ALL moved to CSR. I had stayed there the first year it opened, but was young and never really explored the resort. Staying there as an adult, all I can say is WOW. Where do I start? It is so PEACEFUL! The grounds are beautiful - we stayed in the Casitas and had about a minute's walk to Pepper Market and Rix. The pool is fantastic, our kids loved it! The play area was pretty cool, too. And the pool bar - Siesta's - serves the yummiest appetizers. I don't love the Pepper Market's seating/gratuity policy, so we always got our food to go and ate outside. The marina only has seasonal hours which we weren't able to take advantage of. CSR a bit out of the way, but fun to drive by Blizzard Beach on the way to the parks. The staff was great, check in was a breeze! The beds are comfy (Queens), and the refurb really did make it feel more deluxe than other mods. Plus you get the good H2O products! Great gift shop. Rix has amazing desserts. We only used the bus system once, for MVMCP, no wait coming or going. I HIGHLY recommend CSR. I know a lot of people don't, they say it's a convention resort and not very Disney, but to me Disney is a clean room, a comfy bed and turning on the television and seeing the resort TV channels, not the fact that there aren't statues of Mickey in the lobby. Go and ENJOY :goodvibes
What do you mean..."you get the good H2O products.."? Maybe I missed something about that in all my research! Thank you for helping me feel better! I really think we are going to enjoy the big beds, decor, and the dig site and pool. I also don't feel that everything about our Disney trip has to be all "Disneyed" out. We get all of that in the parks, so I am looking forward to a relaxing stay at the resort. Thank you so much!

To Blackbeltdisneygirl Sorry about that...H2O is the brand of shampoo, conditioner and bath products that Disney resorts offer guests. In the values and mods, each room gets a bottle of a two-in-one shampoo+conditioner, the deluxe resorts get a separate shampoo and conditioner. Along with the deluxe resorts, CSR gives guests the separate bottles of shampoo and conditioner. Let me tell you, they are Heavenly! This year we are staying at Port Orleans French Quarter because of the refurbished rooms, so we will have to buy the big bottles of H2O shamp & cond in the gift shop. CSR spoiled us and now it's just not a Disney vacay without them ;)

Thank you! :goodvibes I love cappuccino - that will be sooooo nice to have in the mornings. :)

Here you go (I took this in 2009):

Really???!!!!
They don't have the kind that is hanging on the wall like they used to? or like the other resorts?

It's nice they have an actual one then!! :thumbsup2
the ones on the wall weren't very powerful.

I believe the only thing you can request "online" is "near transportation and first floor"; I know you cannot request a certain building. I would have it noted on your reservation because people say that the computer is now "assigning" rooms at all of the resorts.

I called and have it noted in my reservation where I want to be (Cabana 8A or 8B) - do I change my chances of getting that if I do online check-in? I've never done it before, so I wasn't sure...

Has anyone shipped a package recently to CSR? I am thinking about trying to get away with only using carryons on the plane, and shipping stuff like sunblock and other personal items would help tremendously with that! Does CSR charge for holding a package for you? What address would I use?

Now that I know how great you all are at answering questions, I seem to have a bunch for you, lol!:)

I don't think it matters if you check in online or not. We've done online twice, and have been in our requested area both times (it really is just luck).

The address is on the first page of this thread. We've never shipped a package; hopefully someone who has done so recently can answer that part of the queswtionf or you.

Oh, ok! Thanx for clearing that up for me! Now that I think about it, I think I remember someone else talking about them! I am nervous to use Disney products b/c my mom brought back the soap on her first trip, and I broke out in a huge itchy rash. I was miserable! Oh well, my family can use them!

Hi a newbie to CSR signing in. We are booked through a travel agent for our upcoming trip so don't think I can request a specific area. Does this mean by the time vacation and convention people request their rooms, we will be stuck at the furthest away area? If we are, how long a walk to El Centro, bus stops and a laundry?

Thanks :goodvibes

First, you can have your TA put in a request on your reservation.

No, this does not mean you will the furthest away.

There is a bus stop in each section -- Casitas, Ranchos and Cabanas.

There is also a laundry by each quiet pool located in each section -- Casitas, Ranchos and Cabanas. Depending on what building you are assigned will determine your warlk to El Centro.

We just got back from a 5 night stay at CSR 3/13-3/18. Overall it was a very good trip!

My parents met us (me, DH, DS age 8.5) there, as we were flying in from different states. My mom had made the reservations for 2 rooms and we had had a few issues with central reservations messing things up (such as having DS on the ressie as 2 different people and sending my DME tickets the wrong address...one I hadn't lived at in 3 years and never gave them as a valid address). My mother had called soon after making the reservation and requested connecting or at least nearby rooms, and Cabanas 9B or 9A or Casitas 4 or 5. We had done online check-in about 5 days prior to arrival and I confirmed that day on the phone that we wanted connecting or nearby rooms. When we arrived it was obvious something wasn't right...the CM for online check-in immediately got on the phone and told someone that it was clearly marked we were "travelling together". I think they had put us no where near each other. The CM told us it would be about 10 minutes. She did confirm we were supposed to get a waterview. I figured it wouldn't hurt to throw out our room requests again, so I told her we wanted Cabanas and she said they were full. So I said "Casitas 4 or 5, preferably 4". She reminded us those are just requests and can't be guaranteed and we said we understood. She implied we could update to preferred but we said that was ok. We went to Pepper Market for a late lunch. We came back about 30-40 minutes later and our rooms were ready. We got connecting rooms in Casitas 4. :woohoo:

The rooms (4231 and 4232) were a great location. They had a waterview of Lago Dorado (sort of - plenty of trees in the way). But even better they were just around the corner (literally) from the quiet pool and at the end of the hall and across the parking lot from Bus Stop 2. It was about a 5-7 minute walk to El Centro and about a 10-12 minute walk to the Dig Site (we only went once, I actually liked the quiet pool just as much and my son wasn't overly impressed with the slide anyway...luckily he kind of forgot about the arcade). We checked for bed bugs on the mattresses and in the furniture (yes, really) with a flashlight right away, no signs of anything so we were good to go. My parents luggage arrived a few minutes later.

We ate at Pepper Market quite a bit, almost every day for breakfast and a couple times for dinner. The breakfast was good, and for dinner the Mexcian items (especially the chicken fajitas and chicken quesadillas) were very good. The burgers and ribs were just ok. We didn't really try the salad or pasta areas. We had grab and go breakfast at Cafe Rix one day. I preferred Pepper Market but it was nice to have an option at 6:30 am for the day MK opened at 8 am (Pepper Market doesn't open until 7 am). We didn't mind paying the 10% gratuity at Pepper Market, I think it was well worth it for the service received.

Panchitos gift shop was very nice, and large, lots of Disney merchandise there and some food items as well. We didn't try the Maya Grill or the lounges/bars.

Bus service was great. We usually waited 0-10 minutes at either bus stop 2 or 1 (if we went to the parks right from Pepper Market). The service back from the parks was excellent as well, and they seemed to run extra busses when they knew heavy crowds would be exiting the parks (e.g., after Fantasmic and after Wishes).

This resort was beautiful and I certainly would recommend it! We probably would try someplace different next time for variety, but I certainly wouldn't hestiate to come back again sometime.

Thanks for the review. I'm so glad you got your request...we love Casitas 4...it is one of our favorite areas. The quiet pool there is our favorite too. And I'm so glad you enjoyed Pepper Market...we've always enjoyed our meals there. Terrific news on the buses (especially after a few reports lately of long waits).

We will be going here for the first time this summer. I have been dying to stay here but it was always sold out. Sadly this will be my first and only time since we are a family of 5 :(
I cannot wait though.

:welcome::welcome: Thank you for joining us. I'm so glad you wre finally able to get a ressie before you can't stay here with the age of your kids.
