Thanks all for your replies :goodvibes

It's sounding like it will be OK as long as I stick to my original plan of going only during evening EMH hours.

Now I have another quick question for you:

Is there more than one hot tub at CSR? And is there a sauna type deal in the spa like there is at AKL? Both spas are about the same I'm thinking so....

:flower3:

We only saw one hot tub, but it was a big one. We were in it for awhile with 8 or 10 other people and it was not super crowded.

What a great thread....Subscribing:)

Welcome! Delighted to have you with us.

There is a 200 square foot "dry" sauna.

There is only one hot tub located by the main pool (it seats 22 people).

Thank you both!

Can either of you tell me if I should be concerned about the "International Transport Packaging Forum" that occurs during my dates? I'm a little worried about it due to the pics of the attendees on the website for it. :sad1:

I am sending you a PM.

Okay all you CSR fans! I need a bit of reassurance that I made the right choice in my resort! We will be at POR for 4 days and nights, and then CSR for 6 nights 7 days. I went against my better judgement and read some stinky reviews about CSR. I usually try not to b/c I realize that a lot of the time people who either aren't easily pleased, or really did have a bad experience, and just need a place to vent are the ones writing the reviews. It's not usually the people who are completely happy with the experience. I just need to hear your reasons why you love CSR. We have two rooms booked for May, and were so excited to be visiting there! I think I still am, I just need to get re-excited (I know it's not a word, okay?!). I am kicking myself for reading the bad reviews. I read them about POR too, and I loved it there! I was completely happy there! We had no complaints at all, but some people blasted it! Anyway, if you don't mind setting my heart at ease, I would really appreciate it. I am sure I made the right decision, I just am a little nervous now.

My DS and I are planning our first trip to CSR in September, 2012. We have stayed in the Values since 2000 because we always travelled during Spring Break when my daughter was in school amd had to save as much as we could. Now that we can travel anytime, we noticed the great prices after Labor Day and CSR looked like the place we are going to like.

Looking forward to becoming Dis friends with many of you!

I just got back from CSR this week. I loved our stay there, and will stay there again without hesitation!! I loved the queen beds, being able to get a microwave. I love the grounds. The dig site's playground in unparalled to any other resort's at WDW. My trip report is in my signature.

I'm there during the same time, and now I'm worried...

I've been doing a lot of reading up on the conventions and such, and it doesn't seem that most of them are very big at all, or that they have much of an impact on resort amenities during most of the day. I'm sure it will work out ok.

I have a question for y'all. :)
I'm thinking about ditching my Poly ressie this April in favor of CSR since I haven't stayed there yet, and am a little concerned over the buses. :guilty:

TIA! :flower3:

I will be very interested in your CSR review if you stay here in April. I too am a huge Poly lover but *IF* we can scrape together the funds for a vacay in October, it will be to a moderate with CSR as top pick. We have always stayed deluxe but the theme at CSR is very appealing and the dining options look yummers! The girls would love the pool and Dh would be happy with the many "adult beverage" stations..lol.

My biggest concern is the walking distances. We eat many meals in our resort and swim everyday. I would want to be in Casitas 3,4, or 1 or Cabanas 9b or 9a. I have seen the "mileage" info described for distance inside CSR but I am no good at computing that into "walking experience." For anyone who has stayed at both, could you put CSR walking distances into a Poly equivilent? Like....casitas 3 to dig site being like walking from Tahiti to ??luau??

You would actually be better off asking for Castias 4; Casitas 3 is a long haul to the main pool and is now a preferred location which costs more. We have stayed in Casitas 4 and 5 a number of times and it takes me about five minutes (I am over 50 as is DH) to walk to the main building for coffee, food, etc., and about seven minutes to the main pool (it only takes me 10 minutes or longer if I stop to take pictures along the way...which, even after nine stays, I still do).

OT a bit here...... ;)
I am also "over 50" but I had to chuckle when I read your post above....:lmao:
I pride myself in knowing I can "run circles around" most people I know that are "over 30" :lmao:
I may not be as fast as teenagers, but then.... I wouldn't want to be because I don't want to miss anything!! :thumbsup2

We've stayed in Casitas 3 and Ranchos 6 and they were both great locations! we never minded the short walk!

I love Casitas and will be requesting 4 or 5 since 3 is perferred and I don't want to pay the extra $

:thumbsup2 I guess I should have said that Castias 3 is a "longer haul" to the main pool. We had a suite in Casitas 3 and I didn't mind the walk at all; but I know a lot of people will find it a long walk. Actually 8A has become a real fav now too...with a short walk over the bridge to the main building. But this year we are going all out and asking for the Ranchos. :)

Can you tell me how much they charged for a microwave? Thanks

It depends on what time you make purchases, when they are available at the gift shop. The CMs are good about asking you when you are checking out to be sure the delivery will make it before you leave.

If you purchase early in the day (before about 2:00 or 3:00), the items can be picked up the following day at your resort after 4:00 (I think that's the time - it's late afternoon). If you purchase later in the day, it would be the 2nd day after. So, if you shop on Thursday morning, you can pick up Friday afternoon. Beyond that, you'll have to carry your purchases or have them sent to the front of the park. (I haven't done that, I know it's an available service, but not sure about the specific times.) Your Tuesday DTD purchases will be available Wednesday or Thursday, depending on when you plan to be there.

Hope this helps!
Thank you so much!

They're free, first come first serve.

You ABSOLUTELY made the right decision! In 2008, my large family had a Grand Gathering and we booked three rooms at Wilderness Lodge. At the last minute, extra family members hopped on board, but Wilderness Lodge didn't have availabilty, but CSR did. Wanting to be together, we ALL moved to CSR. I had stayed there the first year it opened, but was young and never really explored the resort. Staying there as an adult, all I can say is WOW. Where do I start? It is so PEACEFUL! The grounds are beautiful - we stayed in the Casitas and had about a minute's walk to Pepper Market and Rix. The pool is fantastic, our kids loved it! The play area was pretty cool, too. And the pool bar - Siesta's - serves the yummiest appetizers. I don't love the Pepper Market's seating/gratuity policy, so we always got our food to go and ate outside. The marina only has seasonal hours which we weren't able to take advantage of. CSR a bit out of the way, but fun to drive by Blizzard Beach on the way to the parks. The staff was great, check in was a breeze! The beds are comfy (Queens), and the refurb really did make it feel more deluxe than other mods. Plus you get the good H2O products! Great gift shop. Rix has amazing desserts. We only used the bus system once, for MVMCP, no wait coming or going. I HIGHLY recommend CSR. I know a lot of people don't, they say it's a convention resort and not very Disney, but to me Disney is a clean room, a comfy bed and turning on the television and seeing the resort TV channels, not the fact that there aren't statues of Mickey in the lobby. Go and ENJOY :goodvibes

Well I can vouch for the Pepper Market, that's for sure. :) Paying for the 18% gratuity isn't so bad either - depending on how great your server is. It's nice having them get the drinks and extra napkins and such without you having to do the balancing trick with the plates, drinks etc.. :thumbsup2

I'll let you know how it all works out, and if I go with CSR or not. So far it's looking very likely that I will.

It's only a 10% gratuity. ;)
