Thanks Shuckn, that is helpful. I was thinking of going during the middle to end of Oct. as I didn't think it would be too crowded (hopefully, I'm not mistaken). I was thinking of the DDP and hoping the food places that accepted were nice and had a good selection. Sounds like it is a good deal. I looked for the fitness hours but didn't find them but I'll look again, or call.

All helpful info.

Thanks a bunch!

October can be a busy-ish time at WDW (not like Christmas, but it's not dead either). But, there are lots of fun things going on then! Check out the Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP in DIS-lingo) - it's a separately-ticketed event at the Magic Kingdom in Sept/Oct, and it's so much fun. Lots of guests wear costumes and you get to trick-or-treat, there are special character meet-and-greets, amazing fireworks ("Hallo-Wishes") and a fabulous parade. It is worth the extra $, in my opinion. Also in October, in Epcot, is the Food & Wine Festival, with different food and drink from around the world. I haven't made it to that yet, but am hoping to soon!

Regarding the DDP, almost all the on-site restaurants take it. If you'll have a child with you and want to do character meals, it's totally worth the cost. No lines to wait to see the characters and get autographs and pictures. :thumbsup2

Do be aware that Disney starts taking reservations (ADRs) for the restaurants 180 days in advance, so for October, that would be April. The DIS board here for Restaurants gives great reviews and information.

This is the DDP Info for 2011:

Claire, can I make an ADR without having my trip booked? I know the dates we want to go and would love to do some character dinning and some other reservations for TS dinners. I'm holding out on booking the room because I am hoping some type of deal/discount will come out soon. would love the free dinning but think that is offered to previous guests and not newbies??

And thanks on the halloween thing. I saw that and was just reading about it. DD will LOVE it. Still hoping Oct. is less crowded than a holiday (christmas, spring and winter breaks).

Yes, you definitely can book ADRs without a reservation number. The advantage to having a Disney reservation number is that when your 180-day window opens for the first day you want to book an ADR, you can go ahead and book up to 10 days of your trip at that time and not have to call back. Otherwise, you have to call or book online every single day when the 180-day window opens. The more popular locations (Cinderella's Table, others) start booking up quickly with on-site guests booking their 180+10 day trips.

Realize that if you already know the dates you want to vacation and where you want to stay, you can book now. The deposit for a room-only reservation is 1-night's stay and the rest is due on arrival. The deposit for a package reservation (which would be a room + tickets and dining, if you want it) is $200, with balance due 45 days before arrival. You can book now at full price ("rack rate") and when a discount code comes out you can call back and have it applied to your existing reservation (subject to availability at that particular resort - some book up faster than others) so there's no penalty for booking now.

If "free dining" comes out for the general public, it won't matter if you're a frequent visitor or not. I saw on the Discounts board that some DIS-ers have gotten free dining PIN codes this week. You might try registering with the Disney site and ordering the vacation DVD - sometimes that triggers a code. Also try pricing a vacation package (under your user name) and "save" it - sometimes that also flags you for a code.

Hope this helps!

Hi everyone! We will be at CSR in September, and as I will be around 32 weeks pregnant, the CM booked me a preferred room "close to a bus stop". Does anyone have any idea where this will actually be?

If you booked preferred, you will be in Casitas 1, 2 or 3 -- all are a short walk (less than four minutes) to the main building which houses registration, gift shop, Pepper Market, Maya Grill, Cafe Rix and the Rix Lounge. Casitas 1 and 2 are close to Bus Stop 1 (the LAST stop picked up and dropped off) and if you are in Casitas 3 you will be closer to Bus Stop 2 (the FIRST one picked up and dropped off).

When in September? I'lll be there 25-29.

Claire, thanks for all of the helpful info. I just requested the DVD and actually did save a package on the site. I think I would do the dinning and park hopper passes so a package I think is best. Still checking all the options but that is what I am leaning towards. Good to know I can book now and apply a discount if one comes out.

I do plan to do the ADR. I was thinking at the very least the princess dinner, breakfast with Mickey and the steak house in Epcot for DH.

Thanks again for all the great tips. This site has been so wonderful and I'm having a great time learning some helpful tips!!

We were in Cabanas 8A last year and it was a minute to the main pool and five to the main building--it was a great area.

The coffee they furnish in the room is in the prepacked filters. It makes four cups of coffee if I'm not mistaken and would probably take a filter like a Mr. Coffee machine.

:welcome::welcome: We are delighted to have you here. How exciting--your first trip to WDW (I can't even remember that far back with my age :laughing:). Please feel free to ask any questions...there is always someone willing to help.

Online check in day!!!!!!!!

So, I should put in a request for Casitas 3?

Yes, I would put in a request for Casitas 3 (we loved our location there -- we were upgraded to a junior suite with a view of the lake).

We will miss you by a day; we'll be at the AKL on the 23rd and 24th and move to the CSR the morning of the 25th. :sad2:

Hi everyone quick question!

We were unable to get CSR for our June dates but Dan and I really want to go over there and have lunch one day and just walk around and enjoy the resort (haven't stayed there since 2006). Can you still get the steak at lunch? I have heard conflicting things, my friend who stayed there recently said it was off the lunch menu but I think I read on here it was back on? I'd really prefer to go for lunch so we have plenty of daylight to enjoy the resort and hang out at the Laguna Bar but if dh doesn't get his steak he'll be bummed!

Thanks so much.

Amy, when we were there in September, it was only on the dinner menu. Hopefully, someone who is there now will post if they know. I don't think the LaGuna Bar opens until late afternoon (4 p.m.?)...I could be wrong though.

Thanks Kathy, I think we'll just play it safe and plan to go for a very early dinner. I guess its also summer so not like it will get dark right away.

But now Dan says he "cannot live on pasta bowls for two weeks" and wants to go to Pepper Market at least twice! Personally I am all about the nachos.;)

I called today to request Cabana 8A and we told the Cabana section was considered "concierge" and Casitas was preferred. I asked what then was closest to the main pool ans she said Rancho 7B. We are going June25-July 4 and there are no preferred rooms available. Does anyone have any thoughts?

I called today and requested Cabanas 8b. No one ever mentioned anything about concierge. You should try calling back and talking to another cm.
