One more question:

Is there a way to find out what conventions are going to be there in a given week? Is there a master schedule? Hearing about the Grainger fiasco this week is really very worrisome. I know it's a convention center, but it just doesn't seem Disney-esque to not give warning to non-convention guests.

We had a quick weekend stay at CSR this past weekend, luckily leaving on Sunday and avoiding most of the Grainger craziness. It was our first stay here, but we really enjoyed it. The resort was lovely. I liked the decor much more than I anticipated. The CMs were universally awesome. Our room in Ranchos 7B was nice and mousekeeping did a good job. My daughter liked her towel animals. We had to adjust to the Pepper Market way of doing things. A part of me liked the extra assistance and not having to get up to get all of our stuff, but a part of me missed the looser atmosphere of other food courts. A trade-off, I suppose. Our favorite mod is still POFQ because of the small size, but CSR was a pleasant comparison. Sorry to everyone having to deal with the convention.

We were there last week and had a fabulous stay!! Until Sunday when we were leaving and the convention impacted us. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!! I was so glad we were leaving, I will never ever go there during Granger again. We left MK at noon with the plan of spending the rest of our last afternoon at the Dig Site and having a quick lunch and drinks at Siesta's. Our park bus was full of people coming to the conference, not staying at CSR. We were roomless since we were leaving. Went to get bathing suits out of our luggage at the DME luggage room, then walked over to the Dig Site only to find a sign saying closed, and watching them set up tables all over every inch of the grassy area, like the PP said. It was unbelievable. There was ZERO mention of this happening, even the morning of. CMs said even they didn't know. Then we asked about the quiet pool, Cababas was also closed! A CM directed us (and every other family there) to the Ranchos quiet pool. At least DD got to swim, but she was expecting the slide, and I was expecting a place to refill our mugs, get something to eat, and a changing room. We were totally parched and never had lunch. Basically it was a terrible ending to an otherwise perfect trip. While I was waiting in line with all the other women to change at the Ranchos bathroom, one woman told me that they complained and were comped the night back for their room (the other choice was water park tickets, which obviously didn't work for those of us leaving). So I went to the desk and they refunded our last night. That made me feel a lot better. ;) But we really wanted the water slide, what a letdown for a 6 year old who was looking forward to using it for the last time all day. It was unbelievable, every grassy space surrounding Cabanas had tables and chairs set up, you couldn't even use the hammocks. It seemed really, really wrong to expect leisure guests to put up with that. I sure hope that is over by now.

I can just imagine how your 6 year old felt. My 6 year old was given the ok by his doc to go on the water slide as long as he wears a life jacket. He is so excited about the water slide. Then I read on another site that there is painting of the pyramid going on during our stay. I am praying it doesn't affect the water slide. (Now was the perfect opportunity to paint if the pool was closed ;) ). I'm glad they comped you a night. I was wondering how they handled it for people who already had passes to the water parks or were leaving.

Quick plea for advice about requesting a room in a particular area:

We've got a "water view" reserved. We have 3 kids (10, 7 and 2) so we'll have a stroller. I'm a little anxious about having to lug the stroller up stairs if the little guy is tired and needs to be carried as well. We will have our car and so we'll be driving to the parks most days. I expect we'll have cereal in the room most mornings, for what that's worth.

If you were in my situation, where would you ask to be (and why?)

If faxing is useless, how do you make a request? Call the # on my reservation confirmation page? (I booked directly thru Disney.)

Thanks for helping a newbie!
All the buildings except Casitas 2 have elevators, so you shouldn't have to lug anyone or anything up stairs.

You make a request by calling the normal reservations number and asking the CM to add a note to your reservation.

Have a great trip!

Hello! My husband and I decided to upgrade from POP to CSR for our trip in May! We are very excited, and the resort looks beautiful. Last trip we stayed at the CR and had a great time but couldn't justify the cost to do it again, we were basically in our room to sleep.

Anyway, just a few questions! I looked through the thread, and it seems there are many refillable mug stations. But can you just walk up and refill them yourself at the machine and go? Or do you have to have a server fill them while your are sitting down at the pepper market? Or wait in line to get them refilled at Cafe Rix?

We want a location that is quiet and close to a parking lot. Would requesting the Ranchos be best? We don't care about being far from the main building, we have a car and can always drive there in the morning. The Ranchos looks nice, we have been to Cancun too many times to count, and would like something different from a mexico/beachy theme.

We are going during a few conventions, does anyone think this has any impact on the availability of King rooms? I hope not, I have one booked but I heard sometimes they tell you "too bad".

Thanks in advance for answering any of my questions! :hippie:

So I miscalculated time zones and missed my opportunity to use my pin code by Feb. 28. I already had everything figured out: 5 night stay, 4 day Park Hopper, Disney dining, Pop Century. I was SOO upset! I couldn't stop talking about it!

Well, my DH felt bad for me (and for him having to listen to me moan and groan) that today while he was at work, he called Disney and told them the situation. The CM told him they couldn't do anything because the pin had expired, BUT for $30 dollars more than we origianally were going to spend we get everything stated above EXCEPT... we get to stay at CSR!!!!!

I am so excited!!:woohoo:

can you get take out from maya grill for say breakfast one morning. I know that my parents will be short a table service because they are using one when the rest of us aren't so I thought I could get breakfast and take it back to our room before they got up in the morning since they arent big breakfast eaters.

With the computers now "assigning" rooms, it is useless sto fax. All buildings but Casitas 2 (which is a preferred building) have elevators.

There is a list on the first or second page of this thread. I do have a few to update when I can. It is not a "complete" list. This list was compiled from research and information given to me.

No, the DIS will not allow you to post other sites such as that one.

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at the CSR and that your daughter got towel animals. I'm hoping for Ranchos 7B in September (our first stay in the Ranchos in 10 stays).

The pyramid will have no affect on the slide or the pool. You will be fine.

You can refill the mug yourself at Cafe Rix; at the Pepper Market and Siesta's (at the pool), they will refill it for you.

I have never stayed in the Ranchos area (hoping to in September), but everyone says it is very quiet in that area. No building is really far from a parking lot. We have never had a "noisy" area at the CSR, but we found Cabanas 9A to be extremely quiet.

I don't think a convention will have any impact on the availability of king rooms unless all of the king rooms ahve been reserved by the convention and resort guests.

How exciting! I hope you love CSR.

I've never tried to get take-out, but we've also not eaten there since it was a buffet. I don't see why you couldn't get take-out.

Just booked our flights ($90 for a Paris-Orlando roundtrip, me likey!!!). Which means that in just THIRTEEN NIGHTS we'll be back in Coronado Springs!!! :dance3:
Loovvvvvve those last-minute trips.

Hi! Just wanted to give another stellar report on CSR. We stayed at CSR for one night (Feb. 22). Checked in early (not online checkin). Waited about 15 minutes -- no problem. Giovanni waited on us. I must say he was so pleasant, happy to help. I didn't make a request this time--wanted a surprise! (Always a fan of Ranchos!) Well, we certainly got it. We were in Casitas 1 on the third floor with a beautiful view of the fountain(not working at the time). It was DH, me and DS15. The room wasn't ready so he said they would text us and hold our luggage. We took our carryons and walked to the pool to change. It was a beautiful, hot FL day and we spent the pm in the pool, had lunch, and John the bartender did not disappoint. My DS15 actually went in the pool, enjoyed the gameroom, and, I must say, felt this was more his style. Yeah, we have a winner!! After we were burnt to a crisp, went back to the lobby to get our room assignment as we did not receive the text. Giovanni is now in the lobby and on break? He came right up to us and asked if we had our room yet. As we did not, he went right over and looked it up and gave us our number. Now that is service!! We were in room 1381 and it was perfect! DS had his own room with a queen sleeper and his own tv with remote. Now that is living!! We had our own room and bathroom with a door that connected us from the inside and a king bed. All I can say is WOW!! Casistas 1 is now my and my family's favorite. Although I love the Ranchos theme, after this I am spoiled!!

The next day we dropped our luggage and it was transferred to another resort--no problem. We even packed out laptop (virus-free) in our luggage, and off we went.

This is our preferred moderate hotel which is consistent, friendly, and definitely accommodating.

Thanks to all for making our vacation special!!:wizard::wizard:

P.S. Great place for teenagers!!

:cool1: Just added a night for CSR for May. We are staying at the GF rest, but heading to CSR for a night to save $$$ and for the Dig Site Pool! Can't wait to relax by that amazing pool :cool1:

Made our final payment this morning!!!!:banana::banana::cool1::cloud9:I'm getting so excited! Decided not to request anything (other than connecting rooms with the other part of our family that is joining us) Looking forward to seeing where they stick us! I might be more excited about this trip than my girls!

So happy to report that we received a pin and booked CSR for Dec. 14-20:banana: My husband and DS10 don't know yet. For our 10yr anniversry I will give my husband a card with a disney postcard in it :thumbsup2. My DS will just have to wait till the day we leave:laughing: This will be their first trip. Does anyone know if CSR is decorated for Christmas? I know the parks are, but would even love it more to return to the resort with some Christmas decorations:lovestruc Thanks:goodvibes

Yes, it is. There's a gorgeous tree in the lobby and decorations all around El Centro. CSR is even more beautiful than usual during the holidays.
Have a great trip!:santa:
