What is your take on a water view room? If I request a waterview room will I be more likely to get Cabanas since more of their rooms seem to be water view? It costs the same as preffered so since I am dropping preferred it won't cost me any more. I like the idea of water view (even through the curtains are closed most of the time) since we will be there for 10 days it would be nice, but what is more important to me is to be in a good building.

I do not think it is worth $25 extra a night for a waterview when you don't have a balcony to sit out and enjoy the view. I don't close the curtains except when I go to bed, but then I dress in the bathroom with the sliding doors closed and I've never had an issue with people walking by looking in my room when I'm laying on the bed watching television.

There are plenty of waterview rooms from the Casitas as well. I'm mnot as sure about the Ranchos as it is the only seciton we've not stayed in as of yet.

While I know that paying the extra money is kind of silly, getting a waterview room means I won't be facing the parking lot when I walk out my room door; I'll be facing the interior loop of the resort, which is absolutely breathtaking, IMO. Although Katmark is probably right, that it isn't worth the extra $, especially since you don't get a balcony to enjoy the view from.

It's been a couple months since I books our resie. If I remember correctly it said that a water view could be facing the lake or a fountain? If it faces a fountain, that could be facing one of the beautiful courtyards at the casitas, right?

oops, I was wrong. On Disney's site it says standard view is parking lot or courtyard, and water view is lake or pool.

Most of the courtyards have a fountain, but I think there is one or two that might not. So yes, a waterview could be a fountain/courtyard in the Casitas.

Are you sure about this? :confused3
I remember asking and was told that waterview meant either lake or pool.
:confused3
and I specifically asked because we've had great views of the fountains in Casitas but never paid for water view.

We would love to have a courtyard/fountain view.... but don't want to pay extra and end up with a pool view (along with the noise)

Thanks.

Perhaps they now consider that a standard view. In the past, it was considered a waterview.

Do the refrigerators in the room have a freezer compartment to freeze water bottles in?

TIA.

No, they do not come with freezers.

We bring zip lock sandwich bags and double or triple bag ice, to put in a cooler bag. The sandwich bags always leak, but triple bagging them seems to work! When we order drinks when we eat, I will ask for an additional cup of ice and refresh the baggie. Of course, we are using a stroller, so can store stuff. Probably wouldn't be too convenient to carry a cooler bag around.

I have been reading several reviews on trip advisor and almost all are bad so I was almost going to switch resorts back to cbr where I have stayed before and loved. Am I overreacting or is csr not a great place to be. I'm going with my wife, daughter, mother in law her daughter, and my parents, and most of them it is there first time. All I want is a friendly clean place to stay thats not going to ruin the trip since I know how little time is spent in the resort, and the parks is what makes it happen. So back to my original question is coronado a good place to stay or is it not meant for families and I should go elsewhere.

I do not believe most of what I read on Trip Advisor. I believe that a good percentage of those that respond to that respond ONLY the negative and a lot of them are business travelers. We have stayed at the CSR nine times and NEVER had an issue with cleanliness or friendliness.

Here is a review of someone who stayed there with little ones not long ago.

Every resort is going to get good and bad reviews. If you have a problem, go to the front desk and ask for a manager (don't call...it won't work that way).

We just stayed there with my 2 little girls, 9 and 3!!!! We LOVED it!!! The room was clean and comfy!!!!!! The grounds are beautiful. I have to say, I thought we were the only people staying there (exaggerating a little!) until I ran into some others on a bus ride back from the park. (We had a car and only rode the bus on the second to last day). They were there with a HUGE convention. He said they had over 500 people there!!!!! I think they really do a good job separating family's from conventioneer's. Only after I was looking for "business people" did I find them!! We spent an absolutely fantastic day at the pool and didn't notice anyone but a handful of family's. We LOVED CSR and I have stayed quite a few places!! I will admit I was a little apprehensive when I first booked it and was a tiny bit nervous before our arrival. I'm not really sure why CSR gets mixed reviews??? I would return, no questions asked!!

We just had a 9 day stay at CSR in Dec. 2011 and had a great time. These trip reviews are all about expectations and preferences. Some people relate the price of staying at a Disney moderate resort to a luxury hotel and when the room doesn't live up to some of the expensive hotel's they've stayed at they rip it apart. You have to appreciate the whole Disney and Disney resort experience to get your money's worth. The room itself is nice, but not 5 star nice. It's everything outside the room you are paying for. The grounds, pools, indoor/outdoor lounge's, wide range of food choices, Disney bus service, etc...We've stayed at CSR and CBR and loved them both.

We (DW and I) don't think water view is worth the money at a mod. Because of the motel style buildings, we keep our curtains closed when we are in the room, because people are always walking by.

Also, WDW considers anything even close to facing any type of water a water view, even if you can only see the water through trees etc...

The only preferred rooms we would go for, would be at CBR (though we probably won't be going there). The preferred at POR and CSR are not the rooms I would prefer.

I agree. The reviews had me a little nervous, but after reading a few they become easy to pick apart. If your last stay was a Disney Deluxe, maybe a moderate seems less impressive. Others seemed to over-exaggerate the problems with their rooms/stays/etc.

My job also involves online comments & reviews. In my experience, when someone is unhappy, they make the problem far worse than it truly was so that someone will sympathize. Also, most people don't comment if they're satisfied. The majority of the people who take time out to respond are the unhappy ones.

Some of those reviews are from unsatisfied guests who left 'stacks of quarters' for mousekeeping and was upset they didn't get any towel animals. Enough said.

I'm super excited for our first stay here. I'm not letting the online complaints ruin that!

DW, DS and I stayed last February at CSR. This year we wanted to try an EPCOT resort (Swan), but found the first two days were booked up for a convention. We decided to do the 25% off room only at a mod for 2 nights, and DW and DS immediately voted for CSR (and we've been to the other mods and liked them alot too).

Closest to a deluxe at mod prices IMO.

I completely agree! And I think part of the reason why we felt like we had a lot of the resort to ourselves last year was because there are a fair amount of convention folks there. I also thinks this means emptier busses.

My husband and I stayed at CSR last February for our anniversary trip and we fell in love with the place; its beautiful, inside and out. When we decided to return to Disneyworld this February, we briefly booked the Contmeporary. I couldn't, in the end, justify spending an extra $2000...and the Contemporary doesn't have the awesome playground that CSR does! I think you'll have a great trip!

I just book CSR today for my first Solo TRIP! I asked for a room close to the main building (I thinking it would feel safer for a single female). The CM put my request in the Main Building, not sure what area that is. Anyone have a suggestion on an area that would be good for a solo?

Thanks for ALL the info and reviews!

I go to WDW several times a year and at least 2 or 3 of those trips are solo. At CSR I've been solo in Casitas 2, Cabanas 9B, 9A, and 8A. I've never felt unsafe in any of them. My favorite building is 8A though (less than three minutes from the bus stop, less than three minutes from the main pool, and less than 5 minutes from the main building.

We're staying at CSR in May and have an 0815 ADR at Crystal Palace. I'm freaking out a little bit reading how far some of the rooms are and having to take buses to get to buses but I'm also somewhat anti driving at Disney. What time would we need to head out using the bus system or how long of a drive is it?

Also just fiddling around on the disney site earlier I noticed that the dates I booked for the rate has gone down a fair bit. Can that be adjusted or it considered locked in and done? I'm pulling the midnight shift all week so I have nothing to do except plan!
