Sorry, no answers, but we are in the same boat. We are booking CSR after a great tirp at POR. We just wanted to avoid having the same vacation and doing all the same stuff. Someone gave me this link that may help. I would check the resort website for the most current offerings. We are going for it, if we don't like it we may try to switch, but expecting good things as it is still Disney, and we don't spend a lot of time there.

After having a perfect time in POR I'm afraid to chance it ~ but CSR looks sooo good!!!!!

We did POR last trip as well and loved it!! But I'd like to try something new, so we chose CSR for this trip. Really, how bad could any Disney resort be???

we are booked at POR for oct 2014 but thinking of changing to a suite at CSR have a party of 6 and it looks amazing...:goodvibes

Having been a hard core POR guest, I have to say it is nice to try other resorts from time to time. But keeping in mind all the other moderates are not as close together as POR is when you need to move around from building to bust stops, main buildings, food courts, etc...

Venom! You were one of those who helped me make my POR stay flawless... I do know you are a POR rockstar & know your stuff in regards to that resort sooo could you share (if you have been to CSR) what you liked about it or disliked? My boys were huge fans of POR for the foodcourt and the marina activities.... Thanks a million!!!!

I feel like a total moron asking this but how does checkout work in regard to luggage? Do we make arrangements with bell services to come to our room that morning and get our luggage for them to hold or take down with us to check out? We are flying out that evening and will be catching DME to the airport. I'm also planning on using RAC after checkout before we hit our last day in the parks. Last time we were there we drove so we just hauled our luggage up and down the elevator. When I travel for business I haul my own luggage down as well but I'm also not staying at a multi-building resort either. :earboy2:

We were scheduled to leave mid-late afternoon. In the morning, we finished packing up and then took our luggage to the Luggage Room where they store it while waiting for the DME to take you back to the airport. They're very helpful.

Then we hung out for a while, grabbed lunch and filled our mugs until time to go. It was nice because we weren't rushing and it was nice to just sit and enjoy the resort and take pictures.

It's right where the buses pick you up to leave.
:sad1:

CSR is home for me. I've stayed at POR many times (many times in the alligator buyou and many times in the mansions, but never a Royal room and FQ once.) There are selling points for both POR and CSR.

My boys loves the fishing at POR. They prefer the Dig Site Pool, snack bar, and entertainment in general. I miss Yeehaw Bob. The Rix Lounge certainly isn't that kind of family type entertainment.

I love CSR in the evening. The resort in the moonlight takes on a whole new ambiance. I could walk around the resort all night, especially the Casitas. The water and the lights are so beautiful.

The guacamole is my favorite on property. While the Pepper Market is so uniquely different, I actually like it. There will be at least one fajita with my name on it. Gelato at Café Rix is a nightly routine too.

We stayed at CSR the first year it was built. One tradition that has followed since our first stay, is the Opening Pool Ceremony. My kids love the trip down memory lane as they chant and the water fall turns on. There were times in each of their lives when they each thought it truly was magic.

I like staying at other Disney resorts, but I always seem to come back to CSR eventually. It's home for me.

ThankYou for your input! Such a tough decision. First thing my boys (2 are teens) asked was "is there pole fishing?" Imagine? But maybe once there they won't even miss that. Thanks again

My oldest is 19. He's a big fisherman. There is usually some kind of line in the car. He's fished at Pop Century with just line. He also has a small collapsible fishing rod. However, fishing is not permitted at CSR. He asked about retention ponds and such and was told no.

CSR is my 19 year old's favorite resort. My youngest is 9. He goes with the flow, but the jaguar slide is his favorite water slide.

That's cool to hear honestly. Mine will be 14 he is a big basketball player and never went fishing ever. It was walking by the fishing hole at POR that he was curious. So we all stopped by on our resort day & he sat there for hours!!!!! The man who worked showed him the ropes & I just let him hang out there and charge up the hours to the room. Every day after he would ask to go. Finally on checkout I let him spend the morning. He really was into it. His twin and younger brother (also 9) wasn't as into it.

Yeah I was big time POR and I still follow the and aide the resort guests as much as possible. I personally haven't stayed at CSR but in fact we are to do another Moderate that is going to be CSR but I don't know if before your dates or not. I did like the Marina and Activities at POR but honestly each resort has unique and similar activities so it may give your children something new to do. As for the resort we have plans for the Business Rooms there. They are kind of like Club Level at the Deluxes but for Moderates. They are also close to the main building which I like the most. CSR is spread out more than POR is. But your have a nice atmosphere to look at. How ever if you are not staying in a Preferred or Business room then you will be on the other side of the water from the main building, but close to the Feature pool. Also something this resort has also is an internal bus and then bus depots like POR's where it goes to all the stops like north, east, south and west. So take note to which stop you get on and off at if you want to be dropped off close to your room.

Yeah we will be there and checked out well before then. PM me if you end up having further questions. I don't want to threadjack this thread.

Has any one heard how many refrigerators were removed? I know that there were a number of different types so not all needed replaced.

Are there microwaves in the rooms? I'm not sure where in the resort we are going to stay in.

None of the Value or Mod resorts have microwaves in the room. Most of the Deluxe rooms don't have microwaves either unless its suite or villa. CSR does have a few microwaves on hand that you can request when you check in to see if one is available, but no guarantees.

You can request one, but they aren't guaranteed. We've got one each time we requested, but one time it took a day before one became available.

How long does it take from the preferred rooms to the Dig Site area?

The "preferred" location only puts you close to the Food court. Depending which room you get it could be as close as 5 mins or as far as 10 mins. Business Class gets you a room that is 2 mins from the Dig Site and 2 mins from the Food Court.
