Coronado Springs Resort - New Unofficial FAQ Thread - November 2012

Called and added a refrigerator request to our reservation (not a medical request)

CM said no time frame for replacement. He also said that his memo did not say that the studios at the DVC were excluded. He said that he thought their refrigerators were the same size.

DVC refrigerators are definitely different. The studios have half-sized fridges with small freezer compartments; 1- and 2-bedroom villas and grand villas have full kitchens with full sized refrigerators. The fridges in the resort rooms are very small and do not have any type of freezer compartment.

CMs who take reservations for WDW resorts typically don't know much about DVC. (and sadly, some don't even know much about the resort rooms they are booking. :confused3)

It didn't sound right to me what they said about the studios. I remember having a larger refrig at Boardwalk a few years ago.

I have just received this email
Defect found in Disney's guest room refrigerators
by Leah Zanolla
Jul 10, 2013

Disney hotels will not have refrigerators in their guest rooms for a few months. A possible defect was found in the refrigerators used at Walt Disney World, Disneyland and Aulani, so they have been removed or disconnected. Guests will receive a letter in their rooms explaining the problem, but the fridges will only be removed from unoccupied rooms or when current guests check out.

This does not affect Disney Vacation Club rooms, Fort Wilderness cabins, the Family Suites at Art of Animation and All-Star Music and the suites at the Disneyland Hotel. These rooms all have larger refrigerators.

There will be a limited number of fridges available for guests with medical necessities, but these are not guaranteed.

It is expected to take up to four months to get all the refrigerators replaced.

Can someone suggest what i can use as i have a garden grocer delivery arriving on my check in day?.Milk, butter, chocolate milk, drinks. Also i have ice/cold packs that need to be kept refrigerated for my daughter's knee condition-can anyone advise me please?.Thank you.x.
Does anyone who is there now have any information on the removal of the fridges from CSR?.Thank you.x.

Yes i only have 23 days to go,thank you for trying to help me though :thumbsup2.x.

I am happy to hear that someone actually received an email from Disney. We arrive at CSR in just a few days, so I would have appreciated a heads up from Disney since we will indeed need refrigeration for medical reasons. With that said, I am a little disappointed with their lack of communication at this late date. After reading about the fridge issue on another thread, I called CSR yesterday, and I was immediately transferred to a CM in central reservations who in turn had to put me on hold while she contacted a manager at CSR. I was eventually told that they would 'guarantee' a fridge in our room because it was a medical priority. I have also read posts from those with medical needs who were told that a fridge could not be guaranteed, so go figure.:confused3 Obviously not all of the CM's are on the same page. It is understandable that this will be an inconvenience for some guests, like yourself, and it certainly would not hurt to call the resort to request a fridge. I do recall reading a post about someone ordering a styrofoam cooler from Garden Grocer, and others who were going to pack collapsible coolers in their luggage. Some suggested filling the plastic trash bin in the room with ice, or the sink itself ; none of this sounds very appealing, does it? If I were camping at Fort Wilderness I would expect to be dealing with dripping coolers, but my expectations are a little higher at a resort....guess I'm spoiled.;)

Whenever we stay somewhere without a fridge, we pack this in one of our suitcases. It works great.

It is about the size of a big sweatshirt as far as packing it.
Thank you,i am from the UK,we do have things like this.x.

I would first see if you can add a request for a fridge to your reservation, for medical reasons. Even though it's not guaranteed, it never hurts to ask. In case you don't get one, you could add a cheap styrofoam cooler to your GG order and keep it filled with ice from the ice machine. In a pinch, I've heard of people using the garbage can as a cooler, filling it with ice and placing it on a towel. That's a lot of cold stuff, though. I might consider reducing my order to the bare minimum or getting different items that don't require refrigeration.

There's just no way to tell when CSR will get the new fridges. I read through a thread on this board yesterday and DIS-ers had called to see when their resort of choice was going to get theirs swapped out, but I don't put a lot of stock in the answers they got. No matter if they thought they were calling "THE" Resort, they were talking to a call center and I doubt that information is actually known by Disney as of yet.
Thank you, have just added th styrofoam cooler to my Garden Grocer order, worried now that everyone is going to have the same idea and won't be none left.
May leave off the butter, cream cheese, ham+milk.I make up bagels the night before, then on the way to the buses in the morning,we eat them for breakfast as it's quicker than getting breakfast in a resort or park.Oh dear.x.

Can i ask what number you called please?.I called the number on post one of this thread and i was told i am to early to add a request?.We fly out on Aug 3rd but don't check into CSR until 10th Aug.
Do i ask for a fridge or a medical fridge,are they different?.x.

Oh no i didn't get a personal email from WDW,i got the email from the DIS alerting me to the issue.Sorry if i confused you.
Am not too worried if i have to cancel some of my GG chilled order, although it is an inconvienence.I am more worried about not being able to have somewhere to put my daughters cold ice/freeze wraparound packs and steroid gel that must be refrigerated.x.

I've been watching for the rates to release for '14 for some time now. Now that they are open, I wanted to book a Standard room at CSR for October 12 - 18. The ONLY availability there for that week is in the Standard View BC rooms and Jr Suites/Suites. I looked the week before and the week after and there are plenty of standard rooms available.

Now to my question...

Why? :confused3 Is there some HUGE convention that week that is going to take all the rooms except for the three levels shown, or do you think they (Disney) have a problem with their pricing files when they loaded to the system?

I went ahead and booked over at AoA for a Little Mermaid room for now, since we do want to try that resort, but would prefer to be at CSR. Not really interested in BC at this point in time since we wouldn't really take advantage of it enough to justify the upcharge. I plan to keep an eye on CSR for this week, but just found this interesting and confusing at the same time.

...and here I was thinking that Disney had actually opened up the lines of communication:rotfl: Well, you would certainly qualify as a medical priority for a fridge. Let's hope CSR will help us all out!

I would be surprised its all booked already, that said that is fall break week for a lot of people... Which tends to be around Columbus Day. I have never done wdw (yet!) but DL is usually slammed that week.

After a 3.5 year hiatus, we're heading back to CSR in October. Previously, we enjoyed what we perceived to be a bi-polar resort theme (southwest theme outside the resort room, shiek boutique styling inside) and we're excited about heading back.

I would specify that you need a refrigerator for medical reasons.
I called 407-939-5277.

Hello all - our thoughts on our recent visit/vacation to CSR:

Check In (A+) -
We did the Online checkin and when we walked in around 2pm, several greaters gave us "Good Afternoon"'s. Very nice. We were escorted to the early check in area and within 10-15 minutes we were given our Disney Cards and map of where our building is located.

Building/Room : Casitas 5 Room 105 (A-)
We found the building with no problem. Very nice looking with plenty of parking. Finding the room was another thing. Walked around 3/4 of the building before finding the room. (a map of where the rooms are in the building would have been nice)
Luggage carts for each building would be nice. Had to make at least 6-7 trips to get luggage to room. Thank goodness we had a first floor room.
Room was AWESOME! 2 Queen beds. Loved the sliding doors for the bathroom /sink area for privacy in mornings while wife got ready for each day.
Had hot water for shower every day no matter what time of the day.

Grounds/Landscaping - (A-)
Only reason we give this the A- is because of a bridge under construction and a slight detour to get around it. Never saw anyone working on it during the 5 days we were there. Other than that, the place looked great.

Pool (A-)
Pool is big. The girls couldn't get enough of the waterslide. They missed out on most of the fun stuff going on during the day because of being at other parks but did get to enjoy some dancing and marshmellow roasting on a few nights.
Only hit on this is that there is no background music playing night or day. I personally like to hear some sort of music all the time. Radio Disney or a local easy listening station would have been nice.

Food (A+)
We didn't eat at the Pepper Market. Just not enough time to do that.
Did eat at the Cafe Rix, to go order. Food was really good. Got it after a day in the park and everyone was tired. Employees were really friendly there and prices were not too bad.
Did look at the menu Pepper Market and the prices didn't seem that expensive. Prices at the Maya Grill were abit high for our taste, so we didn't go there.

Conventions:
There was a Karata Tournament going on while we were there and the only time we saw them was late at night around the pool area or at the end of their stay carring huge trophies around to their rooms.

Buses:
We used Bus Stop 2 and we never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus to which ever park we wanted to go to. This was always the first stop the bus would make when entering the resort. Buses would go in order: 2,3,4, main entrance or 1 then it would leave to which park it was destined to go to. Each ride was no more than 10-15 minutes. Magic Kindom was the longest ride. Hollywood Studios was the shortest. Every bus was Air Cond. and all bus drivers were very nice.

Overall (A+)
We would give CSR two thumbs up and will come back to the resort again if we ever get a chance to come back to DisneyWorld!

Thanks for the report. Did you request Casitas 5?

We've been playing with the dates for a while and have finally booked using the FD PIN! Dec. 15th-24th CSR Business Class. This will be our 3rd stay at CSR! Really looking forward to trying out the Business Class location. It will be our first WDW trip with just DW and I, kind of a second honeymoon. :thumbsup2

Rejoining this thread!! Haven't stayed at CSR in over two years, but can't wait until we go back this Columbus Day weekend! :cool1:

This will be my fourth time staying there...still haven't stayed in the Casitas. Can't wait to go down the water slide!

Thanks for the report. Did you request Casitas 5?

Nope, we did not request it. I did call the reservation number and tried to request a building close to the Dig site, but they said we would have to pay extra for those rooms, since they were prefered rooms. So we just took our chances with whatever room they gave us.

Oh, three more things:
The other pool that is located between Casitas 3-4 is more suited for teens and adults because of how deep it is. There is only a small area around the steps that was 3 1/2 ft deep. The rest of the pool is 4-5 1/2 ft deep. Our girls are beginner swimmers and only 48 inches tall, so we just didn't feel safe with them in the deeper areas so they didn't have fun there.

We did use the Laundry facility. $2 for washer and $2 for dryers. There are change machines that takes $1, $5, and $10's. There is a machine that you can get soap and stuff from, but we brought our own. We did two loads of clothes and everything worked fine. Not resorts fault if I forgot to push the Start button on one of the dryers. LOL.

Last day we did request a laundry cart, but they don't have them, instead they sent a Bell Hop with passenger golf cart to help with luggage. He loaded up all our luggage from the room and brought it and the family to our truck and even wanted to help load the truck for us. Very nice guy.

Great news. We arrive there in 12 days.

So I have a split stay booked for AKV/OKW but today I was on the website and could resist adding 3 days at the beginning of our trip ..... so we'll be at CS 9/2-9/5! :goodvibes

Well I guess I better add a couple of more days to my trip so we can do a quick meet! :rotfl2: It's been years since I've stayed at CSR so it's good to know that you like it so much! :thumbsup2

Yeah, I know it's fall break. It was just surprising to no availability for standard rooms the day rates are released. Even still today no availability for anything but the more expensive options. I'll eventually call to check, but for now, I'll be patient. Plenty of time between now and October 2014. :lmao:
