Coronado Springs Resort - New Unofficial FAQ Thread - November 2012

Hi!! Sooooo excited. We just booked a trip for November. Right now we booked rack rate, business class. If and when discounts are released for November, are Business Class rooms usually included?

My Mom wants to surprise my boys with this trip. I tried asking them what they would want if we want again. Both said a pool slide and "that room with "free" snacks." We stayed BC CL two years ago. We stayed AofA last year.... And before that we've done Pop, ASMovies, ASMusic, and Contemporary. I asked if they would want a monorail hotel. Both said no. They like the busses. So, I'm thinking CS is a perfect fit. Can't wait.

Have booked business class at CSR twice with discounts. First time was with a bounceback and the most recent one with AP. Could not get current Spring discount for the weekend I am going in May.

Two questions.....
Are all the king beds in the preferred rooms in Casitas? We'd love a king, but want to be in the Ranchos area.
And since the Pepper Market isn't buffet any more, can we use our snack options on the DDP there? Can't wait to get back to CSR!!! :goodvibes

CSR has 227 king rooms scattered around the resort. Of those 227 king bed rooms, only 19 have ADA Bathroom/Shower.

We will be arriving to CSR in 2 weeks. Wondering if anyone has been recently that can tell me if the pools are open, and what the hours are? IN addition, do you know what time the busses start running in the morning?

SOOOOOOOOOO excited!!

ANYONE???

The preferred rooms at CSR are only in casitas 1, 2 and 3. Business class is 9B. All other buildings are standard or water view rooms. There are king beds in each building, but if you booked king preferred, you will be in casitas 1, 2 or 3.

We don't use the DDP, but I know you used to be able to get fruit, desserts, etc. as snack credits at PM. I'm guessing you can, but I hope someone can confirm that for you. There are several pastries at Café Rix that are snack credits, and so is the small gelato (at least it was the last time we were there)! :goodvibes

Buses start running at least an hour before the parks open.

The pools are open as far as I know - no one has mentioned any maintenance related closures. They are open every day unless closed for repair, refurbishment or maintenance. I think winter hours are 10-8, but I'm not sure.

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

I have not been recently, so I can't confirm but there have been posts here and other WDW sites stating that all feature pools will close at 11PM. Word also is that the quiet pools will still be open 24 hours.

Buses start rolling at 6:30AM for early ADRs.

Thanks everyone! I questioned the king beds because when I was booking, the CM said that I'd have to pay $371 more for a king bed. Then I looked on the website and it said preferred king, so I wondered if that's the only location they were. I guess I could put in a request for a king in the Ranchos area, or ask at check in. :) It's not worth $371 to us!

King is a booking category, and there is usually an extra charge. CSR has preferred king, standard king, waterview king and business class king. Depending on the dates and the room categories, there can be a large price difference between queen and king rooms or no difference. Here is a link to 2014 prices by category:

It doesn't hurt to ask at check-in if there is a king room available. :goodvibes

I feel really stupid, but I'm gonna blame it on the meds I'm taking for a bad case of bronchitis! :rolleyes1 Not sure why I didn't see that before on the Disney site!!! I'll stick with my original request of Ranchos and leave it at that. Thanks so much for your help!

I'd really like to hear back from a recent guest on this, because I'd heard the same thing but at ASMu the pools (feature and quiet, not that there's much difference at a value) were only open when there were lifeguards on duty, and they left well before 11. The pool hours when we were there were 9 or 10am to 9 or 10pm, depending on the day, which was really disappointing for us because we like to swim before and/or after our park days. I'm hoping that it'll be different at CSR where there are true quiet pools, and that what we experienced at ASMu was essentially Disney treating both of the pools as "feature".

Hey ya'll! Just switched my reservation from PORFQ to Coronado because we had to add a room 14 days out. The last time I was at this resort was 11/2001. I see there have been some upgrades!

If ya'll could answer a question for me: I really need to be close to a bus stop and close to El Centro, but some of my party of 9 have mobility issues. Do ya'll have recommendations?

I have booked my first stay here for June. I'm really looking forward to it. We have tried all the other moderates. This is the last on the list.

Please don't flame me but am I the only one who gets a message in my inbox directing me to Buzz's site each and every time I post in here? I've been to his site and I love it but I don't need a PM directing me to it each and every time I post. :goodvibes

I got one as soon as I posted to this thread today.

We stayed Cabanas building 8B. We literally could not have been closer to transportation based on the room they gave us in that building. I requested a room close to transportation and the lobby at check in. That puts you at stop 4. All buses going to theme parks + internal buses go straight from stop 4 to stop 1 which is the lobby. Downtown Disney buses go straight to DTD. It's also not a really bad walk from the lobby.

I'm here right now and the feature pool is open from 9-9 and the quiet pools are open 24/7.

Do you know if they are "policing" the main pool site? In past stays we have always been able to use the hot tub at late and early hours without any problem. Hoping it's still that way in February.
