Here now! Checked in on Thursday. Check in was SLOW. We did online check in and unfortunately that line was longer than regular check in. It appeared that most of the families at the counter were not familiar with MBs because the CMs were giving them the MBs at the counter and providing long winded explanations which really held up the line.

We had a king room booked and I requested a high floor in Casitas. I added the request to my reservation over the phone, I added it during online check in, and I faxed a request a week before we arrived. I was disappointed at check in when I was told nothing was available in Casitas. We were assigned a ground floor room in Cabanas 9A. The CM was very nice and explained a convention was there and was occupying the majority of the king rooms so it was slim pickings for us. He graciously called to see if any king rooms on a higher floor were open but they weren't. Even though I was disappointed, Cabanas 9A is not bad. Close enough to El Centro and right near a quiet pool. My only gripe, which is why I wanted Casitas in the first place, is that the bus stops we are in between are the second to last and last for pick up and drop off. And Ranchos is definitely remote but in my opinion is the nicest aesthetically.

Wasn't thrilled with Pepper Market this morning - I was surprised to find they don't open until 7am which is kind of late if you are trying to make 8am EMH. Had to wait for French toast and pancakes because they weren't ready. I think after two stays at POR, we were spoiled by their food court. We do like Rix Cafe though.

Pools look nice, will be trying them on Monday. I think I would stay here again - it has pros and cons like any other. We said the same about POR.

For those coming soon, crowds have been tolerable. Rainy weather yesterday and today and calling for more next week. Going to be hot tomorrow and Monday then back into the mid 70s.

I think that's all for now!

Do any food courts open before 7am? This is why we usually do a Garden Grocer order not matter where we stay. Must quicker and easier to,get going in the morning if you can eat breakfast in the room while getting ready in the morning.

We will be at CSR from Dec 14-21. We requested Casitas 4 when we originally booked but now we also would like to request a roll away bed. Should we call CSR directly now or wait until a few days before we leave?
It sounds like a lot of people are not getting the area they requested. If Casitas 4 is not available (closest to the first bus stop), my notes say to request Cabana 8 or 9. We do not need to be close to the pool or main entrance but it would be nice not to have to walk a mile to get our sodas refilled...does this sound like a good plan for us?
Thank you for your input!

We will be there Dec 12th-24th!! This will be our 3rd stay at CSR in the mid-late Dec time frame. Requests depends on how busy the resort is and whether there is a large convention there taking up certain rooms. The good news is you have selected the absolute perfect time to stay at CSR. There is a small Chess championship their finishing on the 15th and then no conventions until after New Years. Normally not conventions during or close to Christmas time. Combine that with the fact you are going during a slower week before the crazy Christmas crowds roll in I suspect that CSR will be half empty that week. Casitas 4 is a great location. If we weren't staying in the new Business Class section I would be requesting Casitas 4. They never seem to get my requests right before hand but have always been able to make changes for us during checkin so just politely ask for what you want. See you there! :thumbsup2

I am pretty sure POR opened at 6am and cafe Rix here opens earlier than 7 but they are limited. I remember having no issues grabbing something to eat on our way to 8am openings at POR so they must have opened at 6 or 630. We are big breakfast people so there isn't much we could order ahead and make in the room, since we eat full breakfasts.

Just overall not happy with pepper market - my French toast was burned yesterday, had to ask three employees and wait 10 minutes for a knife, and the pizza is not your typical Disney pizza and I didn't care for it. They also seem really understaffed considering the lines I've seen the last two days. All just my opinion of course.

The positive is that all CMs have been very nice and buses have been really good. No issues with convention folks. Good housekeeping as well. We had an issue with a squeaky AC our first night and I reported it the next morning and maintainence came out very quick to fix it. If pepper market is my only disappointment, then it's been a good stay!

Thank you for confirming our plans! I am glad to hear that CSR will not be busy the week we are there!! My biggest concern was waiting forever for a bus in the morning and then having it fill up so we had to wait for the next one! We should have no issues getting a rollaway then either.

I think I will call the main disney number though..we have two reservations because of the DDP and our ME tickets say we are coming in on the 15th, not the 14th. Strange because our reservations are linked...we only got one set of bands too...I thought we would get two. Hopefully that means they got the band thing figured out and people wont get a new band each time they switch resorts!

Thanks again for your input! You have made me so excited! We cannot wait to see all the Christmas decorations. Hubby and I will spend one day seeing Resort decorations while the kids hang out at DisneyQuest.

I spent last week in Miami training with two ladies from Royal Hospital in Sasketoon (or maybe they were from there) and they were so much fun! Canadians are awesome!

Small World!! We are from Saskatoon and Royal University Hospital is 5 mins from where we live!

Good idea to call and confirm your reservations and make requests if there is some confusion. You will love the Casitas 4 location if you can get it. We stayed in Casitas 4 for 14 nights Dec. 2011. 3-5 min walk to food court area depending on walking speed. It has the largest quiet pool and the fitness center spa in it. Busstop 2 which is the first pick up is right across the parking lot! Never have to worry about getting on a bus at that stop! It was a great location for us because my son and I actually used the fitness center. We also loved sitting by the quiet pool at night. CSR is beautiful all lit up at night.

Just returned from our first stay at Coronado Springs, which is now my #1 resort! Check in was fast and easy. I had requested a room in Cabanas close to the Main Building. I nearly fainted when we were given an upgrade to a suite in Casitas. King bed and queen sofa sleeper in living room with 2 baths. Beautiful view of gardens & lake. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Mousekeeper left the cutest towel animals I had ever seen, she also left fresh supply of soap/shampoos every day. Dined at Maya Grill and it was wonderful! Pepper Market was great and staff was very helpful. Market is all self serve with no tipping needed. Grounds were immaculate and I have never seen so many smiles. CSR is a great place to stay and have already booked our next trip there.

What a great upgrade, very exciting!

How long does it take to get to the parks? I am trying to decide what time we need to be at the bus stop to make RD.

We are here now and buses have been great. Longest park to get to was MK. Epcot and DHS have very short commutes. We got to the bus stop about 45-60 mins before RD and had plenty of time to spare.

We are on our way there now...about 4 more hours to go! Cannot wait!!!

I've had the room booked for a few days now, but today my trip became official! I have a business trip to Pensacola Dec 10-12 so I added on a quickie trip to Disney Dec 7-10. Staying 3 nights at CSR thanks to my wonderful friend's CM discount. Never stayed here before, only other time in a mod was 2 nights at POFQ at the end of a trip once. Used to stay at Pop, now own DVC but out of points, and nothing open short notice anyway.

I've been reading this thread and it's made me a little less nervous. The size of mods in general and the potential long walks to get food/drinks or to the bus are my main concern. Probably won't have time to swim so distance to the pool is no concern. Booked in standard, thinking of requesting Casitas 4. No kids, solo trip. Thoughts?

Casitas 4 IMO is the best standard room location you can have, especially if you don't plan on using the main pool. Casitas 4 has the largest quiet pool anyway which would serve you fine if you wanted a quick swim or to relax by the pool. You are across the parking lot from busstop 2 the first pick up, close to the food court, and it also has the fitness center, sauna, spa, salon, and laundry. Enjoy! :thumbsup2

Awesome that's what I got from reading so far, so thanks for confirming it for me! I know it's just a request and no guarantee, but I will cross my fingers and hope for the best!

Yep Definitely Casitas 4.....Peeerrrfecttt Spot...So close to quiet pool, / GYM, Laundry area, Own bus stop...Not very far to the main bldg, & a short 8-9 minute walk to the main pool....>Place is the best..Have fun.:thumbsup2

Checking into Coronado next week... thanks for all the helpful info in this thread:thumbsup2

When I made our reservation (standard room) I had a note added with a request for Casitas 4 or 5. We stayed in Casitas 5 a few years ago and loved the location. I started online check-in this morning and under room requests it only lists Ranchos Area and Cabanas Area (along with floor level, transportation, etc.). Is that normal for Casitas to not be listed as an option?
