Just returned from a great trip at CSR July 7th-14th. At check-in, we were assigned Ranchos. I'm no fool. After reading these boards, I knew better. I asked if anything was available in Cabanas. Yes, if I was willing to wait. Sure. I'm on vacation. I have nothing but time. Headed to the pool so my 2 boys could finally see the slide in person, and not on You Tube. Hung at at the pool for a few hours and went to check on room. Ready! Cabanas 8A. CM was awesome and very accomodating.

Got to room and this is where the only real dissappointment of the week was. Nice enough room style-wise, but needed a little attention to detail. And before anyone says, "Oh, another picky reviewer", ask yourself, is seeing someone elses bra lying on the floor (and pretty sure it wasn't my wifes, judging by the color and, um, size), considered a detail? Ok, it wasn't in total plain view, but really? It also wasn't shoved under a mattress. But it was also the small things, like moving the phone and having dust balls fly up and the shower tiles really needed to have the mildew cleaned off. But hey, if you're looking for something, you'll find it.

Other than the room, which we didn't really spend a lot of time in anyway, I loved the heck out this place. It really is a beautiful resort and I took some time to walk the perimeter and take a ton of pics. Its a shame, because I think I like the theming of the Ranchos the best, just not the distance. Kids loved the pool, marshmallows, movies and mugs. My 10 yo loved Pepper Market and the quesedilla's and churros. Staff was very friendly and professional. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Just my 2 cents

I thought I might have left my bra there! Can you please send it back to me?? :rotfl: Seriously though, that's kinda nasty...at least it wasn't underwear, right?!

About your room location...did you happen to request a location when you booked? What time did you check in and how long did it take them to get the new room ready? I guess they just text you when it's ready?

Glad you had a nice trip. Thanks for the review!

Subbing to get all the up-to-date details on CSR for our Disneymoon! :cloud9:

Congratulations :) I am planning mine as well. Just got married June 10th and will be on our Disneymoon September 2-8. I will make sure to come back with some details :)

I believe CSR shares the same ME route with AKL and the All-Stars. When we stayed at CSR, we were dropped off first (but I'm not sure there were any AKL guests on our bus - most of the bus was All-Star guests).

From what I understand, the bus usually lets the CSR guests off before the All-Star guests (but, again, not sure about AKL).

On the way back to MCO, the bus was empty when we got on and didn't stop at any other resorts. So it was all CSR guests (I was kind of surprised by that).

It must vary, because they dropped off at the All Star Resorts first and then headed to CSR when we rode ME. I'm not sure if anyone from AKL was on the bus or not.

OK it's in the mail

I actually requested Casitas through my AAA rep, and the CM said he had no note of that, and after reading this thread, decided Cabanas might be the best location. We checked in around 12:30 and the room was ready around 3. They were supposed to text, and they give you a number to call also. Didn't get the text and called a couple times, but never ready. So finally, around 3, I just decided to walk to the front and ask if it was ready.

My wife and I were down there this past weekend. Stayed over in the 6A section. Love the resort theme and room size. Thankfully it was very well kept and had no complaints with that aspect of it. Our ONLY gripe with this resort is the food quality. We did Peppers on a previous trip and did not like it. The wait staff was borderline rude and the kitchen staff did not seem to care if people were waiting. Overall the attitude was far less that you'd expect at Disney. Food quality was so-so, nothing to write home about. This trip we did Rix Cafe. Same thing, no sense of urgency behind the counter especially with many hungry people in line. When we did get our food, again it was nothing special. The food at ASMo and Pop seemed better than here. I kinda expect if I'm paying more everything should be a little better than the Values. But overall still love the rooms, pool and resort in general.

My family will be checking into CSR on Monday, Dec 10! We're driving, and our ETA is about 1:15PM. After checking in, will we be able to make it to MK in time from the 3PM parade? We don't reall unpack, so if our room is available, all we'd be doing is dropping our bags there before heading to the bus stop.

The last time checking into a Disney resort, Port Orleans, seemed to take forever, but I was 14, so "forever" may not have been terribly long. :hourglass

Even if your room isn't ready, just leave your bags with the bellman and go. As long as you arrive by 2, I'd say your fine. If you're relying on Disney transportation to get to MK, you better allow another 30 minutes.

I'll be there just before you will and I'm sure you will see my trip report before you get there. Have a great time!

sorry i've been busy and am just now getting back and saw your response :) thanks. I do need to stop reading this forum its getting me down but i keep coming back.
I'm gonna stay positive, i'm gonna stay positive :)

Thanks to everyone who has posted on CSR. This will be our first time to stay there and must say I am really looking forward to this resort!!!!!!!(thanks to all of you):cool1::cool1::cool1:

Couldn't agree more! Will be my first stay on site and at CSR. Cannot wait :) Just about a month and a half away.

We just discovered the joy of hooking up the laptop to a hotel's HDTV and running Netflix movies or shows.

My question: Are the tv's at CSR HD and do they have an HDMI input port?

p.s. Thank you for NOT requesting the Ranchos. Yes they are far from El Centro, but we love the landscaping and how serene it is.

One week until we check in for our first stay at CSR! Excited !! :dance3:

Thanks for all the great information!

My husband and I are taking our three boys on a spur of the moment trip next month, we are planning on arriving on the 19th and staying through the 24th or 25th. Our boys are 2,4, and 6. I think the rooms at CSR look beautiful, but of course my boys love themes. I was trying to get an idea of how the Dig Site is set up, is there a kiddie pool area, and would the slide in the main pool be appropriate for my older two? My husband is from Orlando and actually had his prom at CSR, and I never considered going there because I am on a new venture to hit all the resorts together, but he is flexible which has left me wondering.... Thanks!

Thanks. That is exactly what I needed to know.

As you enter the Dig Site from the Cabanas side, the kiddie pool is first up on your left. The play area is on the other side of the pyramid tom your right near the restrooms and the food area. They also show movies near the playground every night on an inflatable screen. My DGS is 2 1/2 and he LOVED the slide! DH put a life jacket on him, I reluctantly took him to the top & DH waited at the bottom. We spent a lot of time going up & down those steps!! All kids are different but I'd give it a try with all 3 if they want to. DGS started in trip in the kiddie pool but that didn't last long. "Big pool Grammy! Wanna go big pool!!"

Thanks so much! It looks like it might be the best of all worlds then.

Staying here in 38 days! Quick question - planning on having Costco deliver water. Anyone know what CSR will charge me for this? If it's exorbitant, I will have it shipped to AKL where we are spending the first 3 days of our trip. Just wanted to avoid having bell services transfer it between resorts.

TIA!

I arrive at CSR in two days!! I should arrive between 2 and 3 (we fly in just before 1 pm to MCO) so it will be perfect timing to check in (OR WILL IT??? we'll see!!). We have 4 preferred rooms between the 14 of us. I ordered a big grocery order from wegoshop and it is my first time getting groceries delivered anywhere from anyone. I've already had questions and talked to Amy (the owner) and she was really nice.

Everything is ready and we are all really excited!

So one last (or maybe not :rotfl:) question for CSR experts...We are taking some professional family photos (my sister-in-law is a photographer) and wondered what you suggested as a back drop. And if you think one area has a more 'Asian' theme to it. I know, it's a Mexican-themed hotel but we will all be dressing up in yukatas/jimbeis and dining at Teppen Edo with my Japanese brother. We will get lots of pictures at the Japan pavillion, but we suspect we'll have an easier time taking some at CSR where it won't be as :crowded: and before our make up has melted :rolleyes1 Or I've thrown off the yukata because I'm not sure how silly :joker: we will all look. But if I do that, my brother is going to be :furious: I'll let you know how THAT goes!

While I have not done this before personally, I am having a grocery delivery on Friday to CSR by wegoshop. I called CSR and was directed to three people and the final person said that they would NOT charge me for a delivery to the hotel even if they had to store it and even if it was stored in their refridgerators.

I assume that if you have Bell services get it for you though, a tip is usually 'expected'.

Again, I've never done this but I called to ask CSR.

On another note, wegoshop coordinates the exact time with you so you can meet them so it appears I won't even need to have it held there. I'll let you know what I think of the service!

Hey everyone! ONLY 3 MORE DAYS! I have a question about check-in. The last time we stayed at CSR in June 2010, we arrived at the hotel around 11:30-12 (it was a Thursday), and our room was ready. We will be arriving at CSR in 3 days around the same time, on a Saturday though. What are the chances of our room being ready Saturday when we arrive? I'm expecting it to not be ready until normal check-in time, but given that it was ready for us last time so early, I'm still hopeful! :cool1:
