I've chosen CSR for the trip. DH is not a huge WDW fan but is going again because of the baby (ok, he's 2 1/2!!) so I wanted a Moderate for a little more amenties. (DD and I stay at Pop, clean room, hot showers, we're good to go). I expect we will spend a good deal of time at the resort. I'm thinking of requesting Cabanas 8b or 9a. Looking to be semi-close to the Dig Site but not a huge trek to PM or a bus stop. Do they still have a campfire and movies at night? Jayson might like that too. I'm usually an uber-planner and I'm desperately trying NOT to plan too much this time, just go with what my little monkey boy wants to do. We have free QS (he'll eat free at the breakfast & lunch buffets at PM because of his age correct?) and I've booked 1 character breakfast at Tusker House. Any suggestions on room request, resort activities etc would be greatly appreciated.

Since you'll probably have a stroller with you, I just wanted to add my 2 cents. The Cabanas and Ranchos are convenient with a stroller because it's easy access with a stroller or wheel chair.

The Casitas are a different story. The access ramps are few and far between (at least in Casitas 5 where we stayed). In Casitas 5, there is an elevation. There were mostly stairs with 3 steps located all around, but there were only 3 ramps. From our water view room, we had to trek back to towards the parking lot to find a ramp.

Some of the entrances to the Dig Site have steps and some do not. We had to walk a little further with the medical stroller to get from 8A into the Dig Site. The entrance right by 8A is steps.

The playground is great! There are sand areas for digging. Usually there are shovels and buckets laying on the sand. There is a play area with slide for smaller children and a play area and enclosed sliding board for bigger kids.

The baby pool, is completely on the other side, separated by the Dig Site pool from the playground.

Nope, Pepsi products are not sold on Disney property, period. They are not even at the gas stations that are on Disney property. Your family member will have to stash some in her suitcase or live without it.

I'm a coke product fan, so I've never been looking for Pepsi at the gas stations. I never realized that. Next time I'm at one of the Hess's I'll have to take notice.

:cool1: Cracked out the suitcases today, got our Mickey Mail late last week, and after 3 days....I finally read through all 71 pages of this thread:rotfl:
I am putting in my request tonight for Cabanas as we just want to be near the Dig Site and El Centro. The buses aren't a big deal as these are 2 "down days" before our Free Dining starts March 25. We will be driving from Canada so we just want to enjoy the resort/pools for a few days before we gear up for the parks. We just upgraded from ASMO to CSR, and then Free Dining is at POR. 2 resorts I've wanted to try out, and couldn't pick just one;) I will have our "DIS flag" (White Pillow Case with a Lime Green Mickey Head on it with kg66 on it) in our window. We made it for our FW trip a few years back. Please if you see us say hi. Can't wait, it's been since 2008 since our last trip, I'm so in withdrawls.

Grrr....had finally decided to try and stay at CSR for the first time. Hubby wanted to try somewhere new. The only rooms available for the military discount rate were a king room, which wouldn't fit our two daughters. CBR is available, but only a pirate room. Just not that excited about CBR, and the cost of the pirate room is only about $30 less than a standard at AKL!

I looked at the convention listing and don't see anything there during our dates (8/22-8/24), so curious as to why CSR is so full?? (lots of other resorts available, but my husband wants to stay somewhere "new" and we've been to all the values and other moderates)

It's possible she may stash 2 bottles in her suitcase, but I doubt she'll worry about it that much.

Thanks for the info.

Are there different locations other than the main building at CSR that you can refill your mug at. It is just my partner and I. I am more than a bit of a Diet Coke-:rolleyes1aholic!

HEY!! ME TOO!! :rotfl:

However, one family member going with us is a total Pepsi freak. Can you even buy a Pepsi in the little on-site store, or in one of the vending machines? (Not sure she'd really want to "pay" for one since we'll have the refillable mugs, but she may want one to keep in the fridge for evening/mornings. And before you ask, yes, she drinks them in the morning too.)

.

I"m like your friend,(even if she is drinking the wrong kind of cola) first thing in the morning I crack open my diet coke. I drink diet coke the way many Canadians drink Tim Hortons! :rotfl: I drink way too much. I don't drink coffee or tea at all though.

Finding out that there isn't even any Pepsi sold anywhere at all, even in the gas stations makes me think Disney is even greater than before. Down with Pepsi!! :hippie:

8B and 9A are great locations - not too far from the Dig Site or El Cetnro. Our favorite is 8A because it is super close to the Dig Site, but anywhere in the cabanas would be good. They do still have the campfire and movies at night - you will get a schedule at check-in.

ooooh great information. Thank you!!! :flower3:

Anyone here stay with a deluxe dining plan? I am getting mixed answers on whether or not the Pepper Market is still doing b-fast buffet style? If you have stayed here with the DDP, how does it work when you go for b-fast/lunch/dinner? Are you allowed to choose only one item from a station?

What are some offerings for b-fast?

We've been before for dinner and liked it. But, having a buffet or enough to fill up on to hold us off until late afternoon will be the deciding factor. We eat big breakfasts! :)

HA. You made me laugh. I don't drink ANY coffee or tea either. DC is my only caffeine. However, I try to limit myself to just one can a day. Sometimes I have a 2nd - mostly when I'm "out".

That's great to know!! But I hope we don't miss it every night because we have ADR's at different parks and resorts throughout the week. One of the other resort schedules that someone posted showed that the campfires were around 5 pm. (Which I think is kind of a weird time for it because that's when everyone's starting to go to dinner. :confused3)

Oh well. We will try to make it to that. It would probably be fun. Since this is my first on-site stay, I want to try a little of EVERYTHING!! :cool1:

Hi! Introducing myself -DH and I are suprising our kids DS8 and DD4 with a WDW trip for April vacation. It's DD's first trip, DS was 2 the last time we went so it will seem like his first trip b/c I'm sure he doesnt remember much from 6 years ago! We're staying at CSR for the first time.

Hope you don't mind if I ask some questions.

We're going 4/15-4/20, originally booked in a preferred room. Long story short I had to change our departure dates around to 4/19, then last night I called to change it back to 4/20.

When I called last night to extend our CSR reservations, there was no more availability in preferred rooms to extend the one night. So now we're booked in a water view room. Anyone know the difference between a "preferred" room and "water view"?:confused3
Any suggestions about whether I should request a specific area of the resort?
We will have a rental car and my kids practically have gills so being near the pool would be a plus.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their pictures. I can't wait to get there!

May I ask about the camp fires at this resort?

is it only seasonal?
certain nights?

The campfires and movies started in August 2011. They are nightly weather permitting. If the weather doesn't permit the campfire or movie, there is usually some type of substitute in the Iguana Arcade.

Seasonally the movie can be viewed from the pool. In the cooler months, the movie is viewed from the playground area.

I may have to check on this, but I think preferred means building 1, 2 or 3 and water view means the room could have a view of the lake, fountain, or pool.

We were upgraded to a waterview in August. Our room was in Casitas 5 and we had a veiw of the lake.

"Water View" would be a view of any pool and/or lago dorado. :goodvibes

I was just there Feb 11-18 with the DDP. I LOVED the breakfast buffet at Pepper Market! It is in fact 1 CS/QS credit per person, not a TS credit. Such a great option for a CS credit! It is set up just like a standard buffet, self-serve, except for the egg/omelette station which are cooked made-to-order. You just walk right up to PM and someone will seat you and bring you your beverages. They will also come by and clear your plates. You may go up to the buffet as many times as you would like, so if you try something and decide you want more, just grab another plate!

They offer just about every breakfast food imaginable. French toast, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, omelettes, Mickey waffles, real crispy bacon (not the paper thin stuff), sausage links, breakfast potatoes, oatmeal (I think), cereal, yogurt station to make parfaits with granola & fruit, fresh fruit (cut up and whole options), muffins, other pastries, etc. I mean, what else is missing?! LOL!

It truly was delicious! We had breakfast there one morning and still weren't hungry at our 4pm dinner reservation. I wish we would have eaten breakfast there more than once. We did try dinner there (no buffet) and didn't care for it much.

:thumbsup2 Right. Water view rooms may be in any section. Preferred are only casitas 1, 2 and 3 and may be water view or standard view.

"Water View" would be a view of any pool and/or lago dorado. :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 Or the fountains in the casitas.

My FAVORITE meal on vacation is breakfast because I never make it at home (except DGS's pancakes!) A daily breakfast buffet for 1 QS credit when we're there with free QS is my idea of heaven!! It's also the meal at which DGS will eat the best, a bonus!!! We can fill up there every morning, do a snack for lunch and eat a good dinner at PM or WPE at DTD leaving very little OOP food costs. Any opinions out there on the lunch buffet?

Well tomorrow morning is the big day!!! This time tomorrow we should be just about arriving at CSR!! Excited to check it out for this first time. We requested Cabanas so we will see if we get it. Supposed to be 87 in orlando tomorrow. :thumbsup2
