Yes, they do. We had connecting rooms with my cousin and her son last year. I'd requested Cabanas, and our rooms were in Ranchos, but they were pool-side (and we'd only paid for Standard view). It turned out to be a great location.

As long as i'm somewhat near a mug refill location and bus stop I'll be happy.

So, I'm trying to iron out all my last details for our September trip and have a new question. We will have a rental car while we're at WDW, so is it better to drive or take the bus to the parks? We've always used the bus, so that is our fail safe. But before I spend any time looking at maps and finding directions, I'd love to hear the opinions of those more experienced with driving in WDW. TIA!

These are the areas we're planning on visiting:

MK (MNSSHP)
DTD
TL or BB
DHS then hopping to EP
Breakfast at GF

you will hear 47 different opinions from 45 people so i'll get in there.
we will have our car with us this time and am relieved that we are driving ourselves around.
why?

no more figuring an hour plus from transit time from place to place
heading from the park to a WP for afternoon break, then back 'home' to change and then off to park for dinner/evening. if you did that via bus you'd have to go park to 'home' (lets be generous 45 minutes), 'home to water park (again generous 45 minutes), 2 hrs at water park, (45 minutes back to 'home'), change (15 minutes (VERY GENEROUS <GRIN>), back to park (45 minutes).
Add that up. you have 5hours 15 minutes transit time in an afternoon. meaning you would have to leave your morning park no later than noon, to get to your evening park by 5:45pm...

i'll be logging our times to see how it goes

We typically use the buses for the parks, but drive to DTD. For whatever reason, that bus seems to take extra time. (It also stops at TL and sometimes an extra stop after the pick-up at DTD before returning to CSR.) I would probably also drive to the water park because I take more stuff to a WP than to one of the other parks and I don't want to lug it onto a bus.

I swear I'm never driving to MK at night again - even for MNSSHP or MVMCP. Late at night it just seems to be an eternal wait for the monorail or ferry to the TTC, then the tram to your parking area and then walking to your car. The last time I did it at night, I was carrying one sleeping child and having to wake another one up on the tram to walk to the car. For your other days, I think the hop from DHS to Epcot is very easy and relaxing (the boat launch) and I would definitely do that.

Whether I'd drive to GF or not would depend on what else I had planned afterwards. The parking for GF is not very convenient to the resort, IMO, unless you use valet and I'm cheap.

i am a "new user" from germany and i am looking forward to our first trip to the CSR at 9-22-12.

does anyone know, if there are "metal doors" in the buildings? we would like to decorate our door a little bit

Since we just took a car for the first time I have to chime in here. I think it depends on where you are going.

for MK, you still have to park in a separate lot & take a ferry or the monorail to the park, so you may as well take the bus from your resort.

DTD busses ugh we didn't drive to DTD but I wish we had. (but I don't know what parking is like at DTD either)

DHS parking was easy,
GF - drive because you can't take a single mode from one resort to the the other unless you are on the monorail. so you'd have to take a bus to TTC or a park and then a bus or monorail to get to GF. hassle!!!

We've never visited the waterparks, but based on so many reports, freezing on a bus after being in the water does not sound appealing.

have fun! I love the CSR so just have to lurk on this thread occasionally for a "fix"

I read on this thread that you can ship packages to CSR via USPS for no charge and can be picked up at the front desk. Also, any packages sent via UPS or Fedex will incur a charge when picked up.

Does anyone know where you go to pick up your package sent via UPS or Fedex to the resort?

My two cents:

We always have a car at WDW. We used to leave it parked the entire trip, but now we drive more often than not. DH prefers to drive everywhere. I prefer the bus to MK, but driving is OK if we are arriving very early (like for a character breakfast). If we get there early enough, we can park in the first row and don't need the tram. The ferry and/or monorail is not usually crowded at 8 am. We usually take the bus if returning to the MK in the evening.

We always drive to DTD and the water parks. I would drive to the GF if you are not planning to be in MK or Epcot that day. If you are, I'd take the bus then the monorail so you don't have to take the time move your car from the GF lot to the MK lot or the Epcot lot.

We usually drive to DHS, but I'd take Disney transportation if you are planning to hop to another park without going back to the resort - it would probably be quicker.

Yes, the doors are metal. I don't really remember seeing people decorate the outside of the doors at CSR, though, like you'd see on a cruise. Lots of people will decorate their windows, however, especially at Halloween and Christmas. I've seen lights and tinsel and stuffed animals and lots of stuff in the windows.

Definitely saw the windows decorated ... but can't say I noticed any doors decorated. Our Mousekeeper also made a towel doggie and put him where he was looking out our window. Cute!

Are there volleyballs available at the resort to use on the beach volleyball
court, or do you have to bring your own? And is the court usually occupied or crowded?

My boys played a little while we were there the end of july, there was always a ball in the court when they went over to play. I only saw an organized game going on once, shouldn't have trouble getting play time.

Same here ... we only saw one time when people were actually playing a game. I don't know for sure about CSR having the ball, but I would think they do have one. I can't imagine they would think people would pack a volleyball just to play at their court. My guess is that they check them out or they sit in the sand on the side of the court waiting for someone to just come and play! You can see 2 balls just sitting there waiting to get hit - nobody around.
