Just got back late last night from our stay at CSR, so I just wanted to post a few things about the trip.

We did online check in and had requested first floor Cabanas. We were going to be spending time at the pool, but we didn't plan on eating at the main building much or using the bus, but I wanted to be close to El Centro anyway.

We arrived about 12:00. There was a short line for online check in (much longer for regular check in), but as I was waiting, I was pulled out of line and directed over to the concierge desk, where I was checked in. We were happy to hear the room was ready AND not only did we get our requests, we were "upgraded" to a waterview! Honestly, I didn't really think waterview would be all that impressive, but we had a beautiful view of the lake and it was nice to open the curtains and look out. The room was in 8B, and I think it was a perfect location - right near the pool, short walk to El Centro, and the bus stop was right when you walked out of the building.

We had dinner at Pepper Market - DD and I shared the chicken fajitas and I thought they were pretty good. DH got a steak burrito, but wasn't too impressed. The waitress was happy to refill our mugs and a 10% service charge was added to the bill.

This was a short stay for us and we ate breakfast in the room, but if we were on the dining plan or there for a longer stay, I think we would miss having a "real" counter service option. Cafe Rix was OK for grab n go type stuff, but I like the convenience of the food courts.

The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed walking around. DH made the comment that it seemed like there was more to do around the resort at POR/POFQ, so that might be a consideration if you planned on really spending time around the resort, but it was fine for us for this trip.

Overall, we really liked CSR and would definitely consider staying there again.

I'll be glad to try to answer any questions (while it's all fresh on my mind!) :)

Thanks for your post! We will be staying at CSR -first time- the first week of Oct.

I thought they did have counter serve option here? I really like the food courts at the values, am I going to miss that?

Also, I thought they did rent bikes (surreys)? I told the kids we could do that.

Pepper Market is a counter service - and a pretty good deal if you're on the dining plan. They have a lot to pick from, including Mexican food like burritos and fajitas and they'll refill your mugs, too. We ate dinner there, but from what I saw on the sign, breakfast and lunch are buffet style. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!)

Cafe Rix has a lot of the same things a food court CS would have, except it's more grab n go style. There also isn't much seating.

I didn't see any bikes when we were there. :(

Ok. We are on the dining plan, so that should help. It does sound a bit confusing how you select and pay there, though??

I read you could rent bikes somewhere, but maybe they don't anymore, maybe someone else can confirm.

Thanks!

Can't "confirm" ... But I'll agree with a PP where they said they didn't see any. I never saw anyone on a bike or surrey. I know if they were there, our family probably would have done the surrey to go around the lake. (We were there in April)

The only thing on wheels I saw was lots of the golf carts and an occasional teen on a skateboard. ;)

We just book Coronado Springs! This will be my first visit to this resort. We were told on the phone when we booked that Coronado does not have double sinks but I thought I read somewhere on these threads that it does. I can't find it now. This is an important detail for us. To those of you who have been are there double sinks or just a single. Thanks for the info.

Single. We had hoped for 2 also ... but we were just fine with only one. ;)

I added the My Disney Experience app to my iPhone and iPad last night. If you look up CSR, they say there is bikes available at La Marina. Can anyone verify this? :goofy:
Thanks

Single sinks, but a lot of counter space. There is plenty of room for two people to stand next to each other and get ready, even though there is only one sink.

The waterports have recently returned to the marina (maybe for a limited time), but I haven't heard of the bikes returning.

I'm excited and nervous about staying at CSR. I've been doing reading tonight after I got off work to try and learn more about the resort. It wasn't our first pick and to be honest I know nothing about it. We wanted POR but we were told that CSR was the only moderate that had military discount rooms still available. WOW! They went fast. All they had available that were military discounted rooms also happened to be Preferred or Waterview. We chose waterview. She then asked did we prefer a view of the lake or a pool. We chose pool. I do know there are no rooms with a waterview of the main pool. Just hope we don't end up having a long walk to a bus stop. I don't mind the walking but my DD at the end of the day is now too heavy to carry. We stayed at SOG last year and it is very nice but I missed the Disney theme and the customer service. My DH asked did I want to change my mind and stay at SOG again but I'm sticking with CSR and have my fingers crossed. In my reading I've read some great stuff and a little bad which is true of any resort. I'll be sticking to this thread so I can learn more. Thanks for all the info I've seen already.

I read they had them also, but no one has been able to confirm.

A new reminder showed up on my CSR reservation today.

Reminders

On September 12, 2012, in 29 day(s), you can save time, skip the line and check in online.

We're getting down to the home stretch, just stalking the mailbox for my Mickey Mail now.

If I were you, I'd request building 4 in the Casitas. There are rooms that overlook that quiet pool or there are rooms that overlook the lake. It will put you nearly half way between the main theme pool and El Centro, and near the Casitas bus stop.
