Coronado Springs Resort -- New Unofficial FAQ Thread -- November 2009

Getting really excited even though we go mid august. I do have a question since we are in the planning stages.
Tell me about shipping water. I want to order a case or two of water from staples or costco. If I order 2 cases of water do I pay a fee per case or per order for them to hold it. How many days prior do you recommend me ordering it. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.
Thanks again!

Anyone?

Total speculation since I have not ordered water - we bring it or pick it up on the way if we buy it:

As far as I know, there is still no fee if the package arrives USPS. I think the fee for UPS and Fedex is per package, so it would depend if it is shipped in one box or two. Total speculation, though! :)

A case of water weighs about 25 pounds, so two cases would fit into the $10 large box category (21-70 pounds) if they are shipped together. If they are shipped separately, they each still fit into the large box category. So I'd figure $10-20 in fees unless you can specify USPS delivery.

Sorry I can't answer your question better! :goodvibes

I'll keep my eyes peeled. I will fight you over the buffet food though ;)

We are not morning people, so our ressies are usually a bit later. No rope drop for us!

I do love Disney breakfast buffets. We are the complete opposite though. We go early for breakfast and always make rope drop; this way we can come back to the resort and swim in the afternoon or just chill by the pool with a drink and then go back to the parks later. I LOVE sleeping in at home, but on vacation I am always up early. :confused3

Same here !! we try not to get up too early in the morning when we go. We'll be there from 9-11 thru 9-21. People have said we need to see a rope drop, just can't get up that early its vacation. Hope too meet some Dis'ers at CSR this year.

Chuck

Chuck, be sure to watch this site and I may start another thread as well. Once I figure out our schedule, we are going to do a poll for a DIS meet. It will probably be on either the 19th or 20th (the 18th I think we are going to do the Halloween party for the first time ever).

Stayed here 22-30. The grounds are absolutely beautiful! At check in was assigned to the ranchos section although I had requested cabanas or casitas. We were in 6A or B, can't remember, but really LOVED this section once we got to our room!!!! We were on the back of the building, facing a stand of trees/plants, but with a view of the lake to our right. Very quiet and private.

Quiet pool for this section, IMHO, was the best. Not far from the dig site from where we were either. If you can't walk to El Centro, then you can't walk around the parks folks so it is NOT THAT FAR!!!!

No problems with mousekeeping. I did tip them everyday, and they left plenty of bath products, towels, coffee, and fixed the bed with the childs stuffed animals every day like they were waiting on her!!!! Room with very clean. If they came before we left for the parks they were very polite when we asked they come back (this was always about 9:00 a.m.)

No problem at check in or getting traveler's cheques cashed, or adding our park tickets to our room keys. Concierge was great!

Not a long wait for the buses, and no sharing with other resorts. When it's busy, you are going to wait longer or may have to stand, but it's that way at any resort. We rode the monorail around one day and frankly I didn't see it was any better between the resorts than the buses as far as crowding, etc. Only problem I have with the buses is that there should be seating at any stop/pick up point whether it is at the parks or downtown.

any questions, just ask!!!!

Thank you so much for posting your review. I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay at the CSR. We have asked for Ranchos this trip as it is the only section we've not stayed in.

If you have any pictures I hope you'll post them.

Thanks again for letting us know how the trip went. :)

Sorry...this is one of the few that I cannot answer (we drive and pick up our own water). Hopefully, someone will have an answer for you soon.

Your best bet maybe to order water from a store close to Disney and have them deliever it to the resort on the day you arrive. There are stores that do that in the area. I think one of the stores is the garden grocier SP sorry.

I hope this link helps

Thank you all for your answers about shipping water.
Does anyone have the phone number directly to coronado springs so I can call them to see the exact cost.
Thanks again

How is the bussing for CSR? I read on here the times once you leave the resort to the parks. They look like really good times, but how long does it take to go around the resort and pick everyone up? How about the wait times for buses coming to and from the resort? Thanks so much for any input.

We don't take the buses (we drive). However, I did take a bus to the MK last year since I was asked to take over this thread and so I had a first hand experience. We went to the bus stop between 5 and 5:30 p.m. and we waited no more than five minutes for a bus. The CSR buses do not share with other resorts. Most people report of a 5-10 minute wait for a bus. However, like with any resort, you can have an off day with the bus service (this is why we drive).

Have a magical time. We used to drive all the time (I hate flying). I kind of miss those "driving" days. :)

I'm with you we don't like to fly. We always drove while on vacation when I was a kid so I kind feel like it's part of the experience. We drove down last week from KY. Played games, sang songs and just had good family time. There are just some memories that can't be made on an airplane in my opinion.:thumbsup2

IMHO..... the buses at CSR are best in regards to wait times!!
In all the times we've gone I think there's only been once that we've waited longer than 10 minutes!
They don't share with other resorts, huge advantage!!
Also.... since it is a convention resort.... the buses are never as crowded because so many guests remain on the property for meeting, etc.
I think it's a lot more centrally located to get to all 4 parks in a very reasonable amount of time!!
And they are really fast about getting around to all 4 stops!

I strongly suspect that the bus times here are better than average, because it's a convention hotel.

All those business travellin' folk who decide to take an afternoon off to go visit a park while they're here. Disney wants to make extra sure the bus service is running at it's most efficent.

Mind you, I have no proof of this. But, if I were running the show, that's how I want things to appear. :)

I have to chime in here on the bus situation at CSR. It may very well be (in addition to the beautiful grounds, the Dig Site, AND those gorgeous rehabbed rooms) the best thing about CSR. I cannot say enough how centrally located CSR felt to every place we wanted to go. We did not have a car and felt that we could get where we needed to go quickly and easily, without long waits for busses. There was also never a problem with finding a seat, whether we got on at the first stop or the last. It also only took a few minutes to make the circuit around the resort.

My husband and I took a bus trip from POFQ (don't ask) to EPCOT while we were there last February and we went through POR, as well. It took FOREVER! :scared1: And when I hear that a monorail trip from EPCOT can take twenty-twenty-five minutes... well, I'm not sure why anyone would have a moment's worry over CSR's busses. They're tops, IMHO. :thumbsup2

We were at CSR last month and I thought we did pretty good with the buses. I would rather take the bus system than drive but that's me. At least twice we walked to the bus stop at CSR and the bus was already there  On average we waited about 10 mts. for a bus to come although one morning going to MK for EMH we waited 35 mts. Apparently there was a bus but it was full by the time it got to us (el centro) so they had to call in another bus. That was the only time I was frustrated. We got to MK 10 mts. after rope drop but we still did well so it ended ok. I was just very antsy for a bus to show up. As for coming home from the parks we usually had a 15 - 20 mts. wait. Only once the whole trip did we stand - that was great. As for getting to each of the 4 parks, I could not believe how fast it was to get there:thumbsup2 Circling the resort was maybe 7 mts. if we got on/off the first stop - obviously longer to load wheelchairs, etc. I think you'll be happy with the bus situation there.

Well--33 days until we are at CSR. My daughter--who has Down syndrome and I are beside ourselves with excitement (we have been there before though).
She is more excited about going to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter--which we will hit the first day in. :cheer2:

I appreciate all the tips I have been getting about CSR. We are headed in days before the conference and staying a couple of days after so we can see as much of the magic as possible.

I was at Disneyland this past weekend--and being in my 'home' :lovestruc park...got me that much more excited to head out to Florida.

One question: Is 30 days in advance too early to fax in a building request? :confused:I'm afraid my life will get hectic before we leave, and I'll just plain forget...

Oooh! LOVE Disneyland!! It's so great you can follow up with a trip to the World.
About the fax, I've always been told that 5-6 days out is perfect bc any earlier, it may get misplaced. If you can only do it 30 days out though, IMO they'll still note your request. It's just that the room assigner only works a few days out.
Hope you & your daughter have a magical trip!!

Okay, back to talk about our beloved CSR. :)

Congrats Kathy (and the Black Hawks)! As a proud Montreal Canadiens fan since my boyhood and being accustomed to them winning many championships over the years ;) I am happy for all of you Black Hawks fans who haven't had the pleasure of seeing your team win the cup in your lifetime or since 1961!

That was an exciting game last night! I hope you can make it to the Stanley Cup parade.

The one and probably only time I've been HAPPY that I work downtown Chicago. I get to go to a parade. :dance3::dance3::dance3:

Thanks for the well wishes. :)

Chicago is a great sports town, but we don't often have good sports teams (my son is still hoping to see a Cubs World Series -- I doubt that will happen), so it was extra nice to see this happen (and I was 2 years old the last time the Blackhawks won).
