Did on-line check in yesterday.... We are getting very excited.

We asked for Cabanas (9A, 9B, 8B). Anyone know what the odds are to get our choice? We're going a bit ahead of the Winter school break (2/10), and there doesn't appear to be any large convention coming in at the time....

We got our 2nd choice last March (Oak Manor at POR) and loved it. 1st choice was Parterre Place.

9B is club level. I think they are available to the general public if they aren't being used for a convention but without all the extra's associated with club level.

I'm so excited! I have to wrap up some outstanding work this morning (I work at home) and then we're off for our mini-trip!

I know I haven't been around very long, but I can't thank everyone enough for all the great information in this thread, especially KatMark! Without your great reviews and pictures, we never would have known about the resort makeover and queen beds. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Quick question -- we originally were planning on arriving right around 3pm to the property, but I'm a little behind in my work (and packing), AND it's raining cats and dogs here (and will be raining the entire drive there, as we're only about 90 minutes away), which means the roads will be a mess. If we go to our dinner at 6pm at T-Rex and then check in, will our room still be there? We already paid for the room in full, but I just wasn't sure how it would work since we originally told them 3pm and I dont have 10 minutes to wait on the phone this morning.

Not to worry - you will have a room. It is possible the room # you were first assigned could be given to a guest who checks in earlier and requests a room in that location, but that could happen at 8 a.m. or throughout the day. We prefer to check-in before doing anything else as the earlier we check in the best chance we have of getting our requests, but if you are really tight for time, try not to worry and enjoy your dinner.

We were in 9B about a month ago in a king-bed room. We did see some other rooms that were standard (w/two queen beds).

What I was hoping for was and Idea of where the request to stay in hopes of being kind of reasonal walk to the hot tub, food court, and busing.

Second question is Pepper Market did I read right that there is a 10% gratuity?

Yeah, I don't understand this either. Definitely won't be eating at Pepper Market if I have to pay someone to direct me to a table.

Has anyone stayed in Cabanas 9E? I am hoping we'll be able to get that area inext month. It looks good because of the access to both the Dig Site area and the food. Hubby said he won't mind driving to the fitness center

Counter Service with a twist...Your will be seated and a server will take drink orders and get you refills. You take you card(s) to the "Station" where typically your order is prepared fresh. When you are done take all of your cards to the check out Register and your bill is totaled...there they add the 10%.

If you have the DDP then don't worry about it...as it is included.

There is a 10% gratuity at Pepper Market. A server brings you to your table and brings your drinks to you (and gets refills for you). You go up to each station and order your food, then bring it back to your table, instead of carrying trays of food and drinks and searching for a table. The servers will also bring coloring pages to your kids if you have any with you. It is similar to a buffet in terms of the level of service they provide - you get the food, they get your drinks and silverware (real, not plastic) and show you to your table.

You can avoid the 10% by asking for a To Go ticket, and either taking the food back to your room or to one of the outside tables. The tables by the lake are very comfortable and are our favorite place to eat if the weather is nice.

Casitas are 1 through 5. Casita 1 is attached to the main building, while Casita 5 is about a five minute walk.

This map shows a (E in the Cabana area, as well as 3A in the Casita area)....Guess I need to go by a different map.

I was told to rent a car when staying at CSR, not to get to the parks, but to get around the resort.

Is the resort that big, that if I were at the furthest room from the main entrance, it would be to far to walk?

Cafe Rix - We did use Cafe Rix early am & late pm for snacks/drink refills. Their coffee is VERY good!! Free coffee in your mugs & it's NOT the icky stuff. You can fill at the dispensers or ask for the coffee at the coffee bar - not specialty coffees but the house coffee is excellent. Cold caffiene -

Am I understanding this right there are the coffee dispensers like where the pop/chochocolate/coffee area and then there is a coffee shop too.

and you can take your purchased mug to the coffee shop and get better coffee....

I don't drink coffee I prefer tea but I know my man said the coffee was awful last time we were at ASMo and would enjoy it if I knew a way to get something better.
