Correct me if I'm wrong but Castia 1 is close to the eating place but not to the bus stop?

Casitas 1 is basically "attached" to the main building (El Centro--registration, food, gift shop, etc). It is closest to Bus Stop 1 which is the LAST stop picked u and dropped off.

Happy New Year, everybody! I am planning a May 10th, '10 trip and was automatically going to reserve CBR except that I thought I should try POR or PORFQ just for something differrent. It never dawned on me to look into CSR, but wow, now that I have I am leaning toward CSR---those renovated rooms look wonderful and the resort looks so picturesque--if you've stayed at both, I'd love to hear your pros and cons and favorite of the two....

This trip will be one of many we've tqaken this past decade and w/ DH and DS 11. When we stayed at CBR, the new pool hadn't opened and I always thought we should return just for the CBR pool experience, but----the CSR main pool looks to be just as much fun!

Help me decide---this is driving me nuts! :confused3

It comes down to personal choice--theme wise, etc. We've never stayed at any other moderate but the CSR -- eight times. We just love everything about it and have seen no reason to mess with success. The main pool is great fun at the CSR -- the slide is the longest of all the moderates. Our oldest son did stay at the CBR this past July (he is 23 and coachs a 13 year old baseball team and they were there for a tournament); he had a very nice time at the CBR, but said he definitely missed the CSR. The one thing he and his 13-year old team members did not like about CBR is how crowded the pool was with really young kids. They were worried about stepping on them or accidentally kicking them, etc. so they either used the quiet pool or went to the water parks.

Hi everyone! We are currently booked at CBR but are considering a move to CSR or a possible split stay (we are going for 2 weeks). Does the main pool have a toddler slide as well as the main slide? The pool is the most important feature according to my son. :lmao:

Thanks :goodvibes

There is no slide at the kiddie pool at the CSR. The only slide is the Jaguar Slide.

Hi everyone!! I will be staying at CSR in March for a convention/conference for work and have a few questions that I hope you can help me out with. I saw on the first page that people attending a convention stay at Cabanas B is this true-if so yeah for us!!! Does that mean I don't have to request that area? And what is included in the club level services? I am going with my 11 yo son, my friend and her 9 yo daughter can they access these services also? We are so excited to go both of our families went over the summer for family trips but we are just taking our older kids this time. Any other tips you can give are appreciated.

Convention guests are NOT only put in Cabana 9B. It depends on the size of the convention--guests have been in all areas of the resorts--from the Cabanas, to the Casistas to the Ranchos. Club Level services are NOT available to "regular resort" guests so can't really tell you what is made available. The convention group, I beleive, would have to pay for the Club Level to be open and available. No, your friend would NOT be able to access the Club Level as I indicated it is only available to convention guests, and only if the organizaton paid for it.

This is so great... so many great tips in here! I was wondering if some of the more experienced folks could advise on where to stay within CSR with two little ones (ages 4 and 6). I know we'll want to check out the Dig Site, and be fairly near a pool, but also know we'll want fairly easy access to El Centro. We're all pretty healthy, so a little walk isn't a big deal, but the kids' little legs won't take them as far as ours will and we won't want to have to bring the stroller everywhere we go.

I saw that the Cabana (espec. Bldgs 8B and 8A) were highly advised b/c of access to the Dig Site and El Centro. I was originally thinking Casitas Bldg 5A b/c it seemed close to the Dig Site AND El Centro AND the bus, but looking at the map, not so sure.

Pool access would be nice, too, but we have early sleepers... noise level might be an issue.

And are the corner rooms bigger? Or just nicer?

Sorry... so many questions, I know. Any help would be appreciated - thanks!!!!

Don't worry about too many questions...lots of people here who like to help.

Cabanas 8B and 8A are good choices, as is Cabana 9A which is where we were when we were there in September (the first time we did NOT stay in the Casitas in eight stays). It was a short walk to the main building and the pool -- five minutes to either place?

Casitas 5 (and 4) are OUR personal favorite buildings. I am now 52 and it takes me about five to six minutes to walk to the main building from Casitas 5 and about eight minutes to the main pool; this is walking at a normal pace--not rushing and not strolling. I often stop to take pictures and then it would probably be closer to ten minutes to the main building and twelve to the pool--if I stop for pictures.

I would not worry about the "early sleepers" as no room is near the dig site pool (however, there are rooms in each location that are located next to the quiet pools).

We had a corner room in September; I really did not notice much difference in size, but I did notice more light with having the windows...we leave the drapes open as we have seldom had people walk by and we don't change 3or anything like that with the drapes open (plus he new sliding doors are great if someone is watching tv and wants the drapes open, you can hange behind the closed doors.

We had to switch our dates to earlier in November 2010(9th-16th) and now there are no rooms available. Was all excited to stay there, we need queen size beds at least. I can only think they are having some kind of conference or convention at that time to have all the rooms not available. I guess we will end up having to spend more and book a deluxe.:sad2:

Keep trying; I doubt they know this far in advancen "how many people" are going to show up for a convention; they often block rooms and end up releasing a number of them.

I am so happy to have found this thread....thanks to all of you that have added information about CSR. I can't imagine planning a Disney trip without DISboards!

We just a booked a very last minute trip for January 13-17. I was originally looking at POR, but after discovering this thread and info about the updated rooms, we decided to give CSR a try. We are so excited!

After reading about the different areas of the resort, I think we are most interested in the Casitas or the Cabanas. It appears that the Casitas buildings are 3-4 stories, while the Cabanas are only 2. Is this correct? Do both buildings have elevators?

Since the Dig area will be closed during our stay, and we will have our own car, proximity to the main pool or bus stops do not apply to us. We have reserved a standard room, but is there a particular building or area that is more scenic or "special"?

Lastly, I read somewhere (can't find it now :confused3) about someone picking up a pizza to-go at CSR. I read several reviews about the pizza being very good. Has anyone done this? Is this through Pepper Market? Are the only two pizzas available the ones on the menu posted here? We have one night that we do not have dinner reseravations - should be returning to CBR around 7:30PM and a pizza sounds perfect.

Thanks so much for your help!!! :worship:

WELCOME! I am glad you are giving the CSR a try and hope you have a most magical trip. I will try to answer your questions.

The only building NOT to have an elevator at the CSR is Casitas 2. I'm not sure why but Aubriee, a friend here on the DIS, discovered this when she was there in September (luckily, she only had one night in that room before she was moved to another room the next night).

We have stayed eight times -- seven times in the Casitas and one time in the Cabanas. We enjoyed the Cabanas, but we much more prefer the Casitas with the beautiful fountains and courtyards and the landscaping. Casitas 4 and 5 are our particular favorites.

I can't help on the last question. DH and I do NOT eat pizza in Disney. When you are from Chicago and have Chicago style pizza and then try Florida pizza, it is NOT a pretty sight! ;)

I have read great reviews on the pizza. Also, there is room service at the CSr if you would rather order the pizza through room service.

Kathy beat me~and thank goodness she has better elevator info that I did. All but one of the buildings have elevators. Both the Casitas and Cabanas are pretty, it just depends on which appeals to you more. Kathy loves Casitas and I love Cabanas! :goodvibes Both offer close proximity to El Centro. (My preference for the Cabanas is strongly influenced by the wonderfully soft fluffy white sand beach & the choice of hammocks - heaven!)

Yes you order your pizza at Pepper Market. As you enter, ask for a to-go ticket. The pizza station is in the far right corner. Not sure if they offer more than two kinds but both kinds are excellent. HTH. Have a wonderful trip!

But, DearDaisy, don't forget there is a "hammock" by Casitas 5 -- it has my name on it. ;)

(to the right, is MY hammock)

I know there are different sections, but do all the rooms look the same? If not, which section is the room is post #2 located in?

Great thread! I'm really interested in CSR now! Thanks KatMark!

Kat and Daisy: Thanks so much for the quick and helpful answers! That is what I LOVE about DISboards!!!! :lovestruc

I hadn't thought about room service re: the pizza...was acutally surprised to find out there was room service at CSR. We might have to try this! I'll probably do a little snooping around the pizza counter when we arrive so we can explore our options.

I think I am going to fax a room request for either Casitas or Cabanas and leave it up to the powers that be. Both look nice and I can't decide! Must have an elevator, though...can't imagine lugging all that stuff up the stairs!

:thanks:

We are staying here April 7 - 10 before we leave on the Disney TA Cruise and when I orginally booked my room I got the deluxe dining plan I am not being able to get any of the ADR's I want so I am thinking of moving down to the quick service plan - saving us $400 or so - if they will let me downgrade it - not sure. Anyway want to ask/verify some things:

Do all the rooms have refridgerators in them or only the suites?

Do they sell fresh fruit in the gift shop? how about cereal? I know they sell milk and juice and donuts. I just thought if the only thing I was going to miss really on the deluxe was breakfast since I have to eat Quick service anyway I might as well save the money, minus $30 or so for some breakfast items.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Krisann

Here*now*at*CSR the*pizza*is*very good and*not*frozen*so*it's*fresh dough and*then*they*add the*toppings only*have*to*types sausage*and*sausage*and*both*a*very*good*it is*small*an individual*pizza*or*a*snack*for*two*people. *I will check for cereal this morning. **I did order the pizza Togo no problem and no tip added we ate on the patio. We were on the dining plan and were charged a tip when we dined in at PM. Our meal at Mayan Grill was one of best of this trip. We had the days speical salmon over penna pasta delish:goodvibes

These were all taken at different times during the week. It was cloudy and rainy for the first half of the week, and cold the last half.

Hope you enjoy and hope there isn't too many. Quick report of CSR: Very big, but very lovely resort. We stayed in Building 4, Casitas, and were very close to the second bus stop (first pick up and drop off) and it was awesome those nights that my husband had to carry our 6 year old back to our room. We're southern, and no way were we going to get into the pool with it as chilly as it was. So I can't say anything about that, but the pool in front of our room was very clean and nice. Our room was very pretty and very clean. The furnishings were elegant and I loved the sliding doors that separated the dressing area from the main area. We thought the room was plenty big enough for the three of us. The beds were inviting and comfortable. We slept well. Our Mousekeeper left a cute little animal in the window for us. Mickey and the Gang had a surprise waiting on my daughter when we arrived to the room. Cute Santa Hat Mickey Ears with her name embroidered and some goodies.

We ate at Pepper Market the first night and meh. It was our last time there. We really enjoyed the Cuban Sandwiches from Rix Cafe. We also got a chance to eat at the Maya Grill and we thought it was pretty good. It wasn't our best meal that week, but far from the worst. Any beef product will serve you well there. I suggest the RibEye!

Overall, everyone was very friendly and we has no issues whatsoever. There was a convention of folks there with rare illnesses. Many children in wheelchairs and other equipment. It was heartbreaking, but inspirational, too. We were glad that our DD6 was able to learn that not everyone is the same, but that we're all still people. By the end of the week, she didn't even seem to notice anymore. Surprisingly, wheelchairs were hardly an issue at the bus stops, and the folks using them are very efficient as I'm sure they have more experience than they care to have loading and unloading their devices.

We enjoyed our stay at CSR, from beginning to end, using their luggage service, Magical Express, ticketing and CS overall. I encourage you to stay there, too.

I wish I would have gotten more photos, but time ran out on me. :(

I just love your photos of the resort. We just got back Wed 12/30. I was wondering if I could have a few of your photos of the resort? I didnt' get any of the resort except for our room and the lake. TIA

We just got back from CSR on 12/30. The resort was wonderful and quiet. There were 6 of us. We also stayed in the Casitas building 4 room 4365 and 4366. This is what I seen out our door one early morning.

Those I posted are scaled for internet use. Were you wanting some to print out? Let me know which ones, and I'll be happy to email you printable versions. I wish I could have gotten more shots. I guess after the busy holiday season for portraits, I was kind of tired of holding my camera. I ended up leaving it in the room most days.
