Coronado Springs Resort -- New Unofficial FAQ Thread -- November 2009

So, now that the day is getting closer...I keep coming up with all of these new questions and I know that all of you CSR experts can help me out...
We are arriving at MCO at about 10 a.m. and I am worried that we won't get into our room until mid-afternoon. I know that this is standard operating procedure at most hotels, but I would love to be able to get in sooner. My DH and I are not commandos by any means and I would love to be able to freshen up and possibly take a short nap before we head to a park.
Will on-line check-in help get me in my room more quickly? Are there other benefits to on-line check in that I should know about?
What time have people gotten into their rooms?
Obviously, I'm very curious! Thank you all!

I would suggest doing online check-in. They ask your "estimated arrival time". I always arrive by noon so my estimated time has always been early (10:30 to noon). Maybe I've just been lucky, but my room has been ready when I've arrived, or within an hour after. The latest was 12:45! :goodvibes

I just got back from a trip 12/19 - 12/24 - we arrived around 11:30am and had done on-line check-in. We checked in very quickly but our room was still not available until around 2pm. We decided to get lunch and eat outside and to take the opportunity to walk the resort. I think it depends if you have a special request for a room/building, water view room, etc.

We have arrived around 12:30 or 1:00 six of our last eight stays (last year we arrived just before midnight). I would say that half of those times are room was ready and the other half we had to wait until closer to 3:00 p.m. (I think in 2008 it was closer to 3:30, but we had been upgraded to a suite and they arranged to have my DH's gift that I had ordered for him to be set up, they put flowers in the rooms, robes, special toiletries and other things). Like a previous poster, we too usually get our lunch at PM and take it outside to eat by the lake and then take a stroll around the resort just to take in the beauty or we go in the gift shop to see what is new.

:goodvibes Thanks for the quick replies everyone!

I'm so bummed that I will not be able to use the hot tub since it will be closed while I am there. that was one of the top points for me. :sad2:

Sounds like they are not letting everyone know ahead of time. I did not receive a letter. I got a feeling that there are going to be a whole lot unhappy guests checking in during my arrival day.:mad: Does not sound like the CM's at the desk are going to be very magical when I arrive at noon.:headache:

We called Disney and the confirmed the pool is NOT going to be closed in January 2010. Their actual words were "Step away from the computer we are not closing the Coranado pool, slide and dig site."

The other poster had bad info.

People have received letters stating that the pool will be closed during their time at the CSR and have been offered to be able to use the pool at the CBR. You did not actually receive anyone at the CSR...you reached a call center and unfortunately they do not know or are told everything.

I looked back to the beginning to see if there was anything posted about a microwave or toaster available for guests to use and did not see anything. Does anyone know if either one is available? I am thinking that if we are bringing leftovers back to the room or picking up a bagel for breakfast it would be awesome if we had access to some heat.

Microwaves are available upon check in on a first come, first served basis (they have a limited number of them). They do not give out toasters. However, both are available at the food court for your use.

I am so excited to finally be staying at CSR in March. This is the only mod that we have not stayed at. Can anyone tell me about how many minutes it takes to get from the Casita Buildings to El Centro? I requested to be in a Casita Building that was near bus stop 2, but wondered about how far that is from El Centro. I know my requests are not a guarantee, but I was still curious. Thanks!

We have stayed in every Casitas building except building 1 in seven of our eight stays (the other was in Cabana 9A). From Casitas 3, it took me less than two minutes to walk to the main building (El Centro); from Casitas 4 and 5 (our favorite buildings) it took me approximately five minutes at a nice stroll to get to El Centro.

Thanks Kathy! I love your thread, it is so helpful! Thanks for the information! I cannot wait to stay at CSR! :yay:

It took us 5-10 minutes from Casitas 4, which was also pretty close to Bus Stop 2.

We are here now and were granted our request and did online check in. We are enjoying our stay it is quite chilly.

I called Disney reservations and verified that the pool IS going to be closed. The castmember didn't know about it until she specifically checked on it. I have to say that I really don't like how Disney handles these pool closings. Anyway, we re-booked for POR, so luckily it's no biggie for us. We'll have to try CSR another time.

I had originally booked at Pop with the pin I received, but coming across this thread, I changed my reservations. :cool1: I will be going with my almost 2 year old DD 1/16-1/24. I am very excited especially since the trip is courtesy of DH. We went in September and after about 30 minutes in the park, he promised he'd pay for our next trip if he didn't have to go back. :rotfl:

I have read every post and am looking forward to getting more info as the time to depart approaches.

Thank you...I'm glad it has helped you. I hope you have a wonderful stay.

I'm so glad you got your requests; I'm sorry the weather is not so warm though. (:

As I said, when you call the CSR number, you really are getting Central Reservations (the same with every other resort as well). Unfortunately, they don't always have the information available. But where we got the info is usually pretty accurate as they get the County records and know what is going on and when someone got the letter that the pool would be closed January 11-31 and were offered the use of the Caribbean pool, it was confirmed. I'm sorry you are not able to stay at CSR this time and hope you will try again at another time. Please let us know how you liked POR.

Hi, Natalie. Welcome to our little "home" here...we're delighted to have you. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have...lots of people here who are more than willing to help. Sorry your DH does't want to go back with you...but nice of him to send you and your daughter. :)

I DID recieve a letter stating the pool/Dig Site will be closed during our stay, but we will be allowed to use the CBR pool area. Being late January, I am OK with this as we are not really planning a day at the pool, but will use the quiet pools if needed.

Hi! Currently planning a March trip and am considering CSR. I know there are Queen beds, which are very appealing! My question is....do you think you could fit an aerobed in the room?? We are a family of 4, but I have a DS and DD who are both tall. I usually sleep with DD, but my DS and DH are both over 6' tall. I'm also considering FW cabins for the extra space. I really like the look of the renovated rooms at CSR, though.

Thanks for any input!

If you brought a twin size aerobed I could see it fitting under the front window maybe. Or in the area where the connecting doors are. But there's not much room for a bigger size unless you move furniture.

We had on coats last night and in the pool today it's like 70 plus degrees today yeah.... The cold front comes in tonight. csr great day back to dhs tonight!!
