BlueDevil- We loved POFQ and POR. The pools were both nice and you can hop b etween the 2. We will be staying at CSR for the first time and we are VERY excited.

I feel your pain, at least a little bit. We were set to book 3 nights at Coronado, and really looking forward to it in light of the renovated rooms, after discovering that the pool area at Animal Kingdom Lodge will be closed for renovations during our January stay. No pool is basically a deal-killer for us. The quiet pools being open really is not a suitable alternative, nor is taking a bus ride 15 minutes to a different hotel's pool area.

So now we aren't sure where to stay! Our kids are swimmers, and if it's 70F in Orlando we WILL be swimming. CSR and AKL were our top two choices, and now we are going back to the drawing board....any recommendations?

Our budget is not unlimited.

Our children swam in the quiet pool most of the time. Only went to the dig site once. They loved the fact that most of the time they were the only ones in there.

Wondering about (1) the cost of internet access in the room; (2) quality of the internet service, and (3) is there free wireless service in the common areas, like El Centro? Arriving late on Jan 16th; just DH and self ... looking forward to it!

internet is ethernet cable in room, works good but $9.95 per 24 hours.no free wireless anywhere at resort. we used it 5 24 hour periods but were only billed for 3 so that takes a little sting out of something every other hotel/resort gives you for free

to clarify - no other Disney hotel will give it to you for free as far as I know. We have paid for it at non-Disney hotels as well. Can't speak to CSR, but we had good luck with the ethernet connections in the WL rooms.

I absolutely love Disney, but it just blows me away that they charge for internet! We live in a very rural area and stay at motels with free wireless internet all the time ... daily room rate is much less than Disney ... really hard to believe

was referring to offsite hotels.if you want wireless you have to pay $9.95 in addition to the ethernet charge

Are there ethernet cords in the rooms? I'm not sure I even have one because I always use wireless.

Have promised my kids to Skype them from Disney. It really is a shame this is one ammenty that most hotels provide yet Disney still charges for!

Yes, they are in the bathroom area on the clothes rack in a bag next to the hair dryer which is kept in a bag.

On the first page of this thread, I saw that CSR had refurbished the rooms. I really like the new look alot. Are all of the rooms done in this style or is this just one of several new room looks? I am interested in staying in the Casitas if the rooms look like this. If not...will someone post a picture of the rooms in the Casitas. Thanks

Jeremy

so just got my letter that the Dig Site is closed during our entire vacation. Called up Disney and the best they could do is move us to CBR.

Seriously? That's the best you can do? You take away a key feature pool and the only compensation you're going to offer is letting me take a 15 min ride to another resort to use their pool? Yeah, my wife and daughter will be thrilled with that prospect. :sad1:

It's great to be approaching my vacation already disappointed. This will be our first time staying onsite at a resort too!

CSR has the updated rooms, but is it worth staying if you cant' use the pool, playground and hot tub? Should we even be basing pool use on a January stay?

Am I understanding that the Dig site pool is closed this January? We are staying there starting Jan 22nd and have not rec'd a letter. Is it closed during this time?

I actually changed my reservations because of this! I was steaming when I found out (through this forum)! I agree with you, only its not a 15 min ride to CBR, its about 45 min (if you have to take the bus) because you need to take a bus to a park and then another to CBR. We ended up switching to Port Orleans French Quarter, but alas no queen beds. I have a toddler that needs to nap, and my two school age children will need something to do at that time. It was our intention to take them to the Dig site pool or playground (which is also closed as is the bar and hot tub). The prospect of taking them to another resort to use the pool or playground is ridiculous!

Had I known that this was going to happen, I would not have considered CSR, I would have made my reservation somewhere else. But I guess in the end, that is why they wait to tell people about this. So they can't change or have to pay for an upgrade to get something comparable.

Yes, it along with the playground, Siesta's bar and hot tub are closed from January 11th - January 31st.

A kick in the pants, eh!

I know this has been asked a million times but I have to ask. I'm FINALLY going to get to stay at CSR in April YEAH!!!! However I will be very preggers by then. I don't know where to request a room? I would like to be close to the Dig Site pool, but closer to a bus stop. Also I don't want to be to far away from the Main building as we do tend to go down for breakfast several mornings. TIA!!!

We just booked our first stay at CSR this morning for May :cool1: We are only staying overnight, but plan on getting there early in the morning and staying until our room is ready the next late afternoon at BCV. If you look at the first page of this thread it has a breakdown of villages with walking distances. Hope you have a great trip;)

We were in Cabanas 8B which neighbored the Dig Site. The bus stop was right across the parking lot. Cabanas 9A and B are closer to El Centro but farther from the Dig Site.
You could always catch the bus at Cabanas and get off at El Centro.

All rooms look exactly the same inside now, it is only the outside decor that is different. When I was there Sept 26th-Oct 3rd I was in a King room for one night in Casistas 2, before I got moved the next day to a Standard room in Cabanas 8A (I had to go with a King room the first night because no standard rooms were available for that one night under the AP discount). Other than the king bed in Casitas 2, my rooms looked exactly alike with the same white, teal, and dark wood decor.

I'd recommend anywhere in the Cabanas. In Sept/Oct I was in Cabanas 8A which was only about 2 minutes from the main pool and bus stop 4 and maybe five minute from the main building. Dec 12th-20th we were in Cabanas 9B and was about 2 minutes from the main building and bus stop 1 and not quite five minutes from the main pool and maybe 2 minutes from the Cabanas quiet pool that's between 9A and 8B.

So, now that the day is getting closer...I keep coming up with all of these new questions and I know that all of you CSR experts can help me out...
We are arriving at MCO at about 10 a.m. and I am worried that we won't get into our room until mid-afternoon. I know that this is standard operating procedure at most hotels, but I would love to be able to get in sooner. My DH and I are not commandos by any means and I would love to be able to freshen up and possibly take a short nap before we head to a park.
Will on-line check-in help get me in my room more quickly? Are there other benefits to on-line check in that I should know about?
What time have people gotten into their rooms?
Obviously, I'm very curious! Thank you all!

I'm so bummed that I will not be able to use the hot tub since it will be closed while I am there. that was one of the top points for me. :sad2:

Sounds like they are not letting everyone know ahead of time. I did not receive a letter. I got a feeling that there are going to be a whole lot unhappy guests checking in during my arrival day.:mad: Does not sound like the CM's at the desk are going to be very magical when I arrive at noon.:headache:
