Coronado Fans-PLEASE POST WITH REVIEWS & RECENT PHOTOS!

Ok guys, we are staying at CSR, first time going to WDW, dates are may 22-29, and we are debating on eating at Maya Grill one night....but keep hearing bad things...how's the food? I'de like to hear from some real CSR fans. lol

Can't comment on dinner at Maya Grill, but we really enjoyed the breakfast and the atmosphere of the restaurant when we were there in Sept 2011.

April 1-6, 2012

CSR was gorgeous!!!! Stayed in Cabanas 9A and could not have been happier. We were right over the "quiet" pool - and looked out over to the lake. The laundry room was right there beside the pool (which I used). We were between the Dig Site and the food/drinks. The bus stop (#4) was not very far -- just down the parking lot a little and was no big deal to get to. The buses were great. We never waited too long for a bus and we always had seats -- and keep in mind this was Spring Break!! (ONE time coming back to the resort from EPCOT we stood, but it was not a problem. The parks were PACKED.)

We went to the Dig Site only once (believe it or not - even with big swimmers in our group). Seriously it was just really really crowded. The wait at the Siestas was very long and so was the line for the water slide. But when we went in the morning it was great. We had several slides before the noon-ish hour when it started getting too crowded. Then we just left. We spent quite a bit of time in the pool just outside our room at Cabanas. VERY nice!!!

We ate lunch at the Pepper Market buffet for lunch 3 times and we really liked it. There was a salad/fresh section -- a soup area with pizza and 2 soups that typically changed each day -- a "kids" area with chicken nuggets and pasta and stuff kids like -- a "mexican" area with tortillas, refried beans, ground taco meat, seasoned pulled chicken, rice, and pre-made little burritos, chicken enchiladas, and stuff like that (If you build your own taco or burrito with the individual items, be sure to ask the guy behind that counter if you can have lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, etc. They don't leave it out for everyone to get themselves.) -- a sandwich and panini area with about 4-5 different sandwich options -- and another line with different dishes like veggies, potatoes, tilapia dish, chicken dish, carved meat, etc. -- and a bakery section with lots of pastries/desserts including a soft-serve ice cream machine with "fixins" to go on top like sprinkles, chocolate sauce, crushed oreos, etc. You do not leave this place hungry.

The grounds were just stunning. Even at this busy time, you could always find open hammocks on that gorgeous white sand.

I never waited behind more than 1 person at a time for the self-filling drink station. Panchitos, the little store, was very nice. This is where you pick up your packages if you buy anything at the parks and don't want to carry it around with you.

There was an ice machine and Coke machine in the hallway beside the elevator. Drinks were $2.75. We had no trouble with our little fridge -- kept a few drinks in there, but not much else. With the dining plan, we simply were not hungry at all. It was so much food!

The double doors that close behind the sink vanity area in the room were very nice for changing, etc. If you need the hair dryer, it hangs in a white bag where you hang your clothes. I guess they just want to keep the counter at the sink open. Just get the bag if you need it.

All in all, we absolutely LOVED it there.

Unfortunately, for me, my time at Coronado was awful. And I was so looking forward to my stay.

I checked in, got the exact placement I wanted, so I was a very happy camper. As I was meeting friends & family, including my little goddaughter for a ADR, I didn't unload my luggage, but went straight off. I had a wonderful day & night at Disney. And that's where it ended.

I went back to my room, key in hand, to finally rest up for a busy next day. I opened my door to find it locked form the inside and someone yelling at me from the inside.

I was so frightened that I ran all the way to registration to explain what happened. The manager looked up in the computer, said the room was registered to me, that he doesn't know who is in the room. He told me to wait in the seating area. I did and he came back, with a new key saying until they remove the person, it is better that I go to another room since it was nightfall already. At this point, I'm still shaking.

I go to the other room, absolutely hate it, and stack all the furniture against the door. I had a miserable night worrying who it was, how he got there, was he robbing the room? What happened if my little goddaughter was with me? on and on my brain went. I was thankful my luggage wasn't in there.

The next day, I still didn't hear anything, so I went back to registration. The manager there had no idea what I was talking about and asked whether a lock report was done. Umm, what the heck is a lock report? How would I know to request that?? I was so overwrought, at that point, I left Disney property to spend the day with lmy family. I couldn't believe my safety was in question and no one notified me as to what was going on.

After several hours, I get a call from Coronado, expressing apologies and that basically they gave away my room, even though it wsa registered under my name. and since, the new person had the room, he had to keep it and I had to get the room I hated. Apparently, a check box wasn't ticked off indicating, I was in the room, therefore it was given away.

So, please make sure all the screens are completed when you check into your room at Disney property.

A letter was written to Disney how my safety was compromised, how I was lied to and how it did color both my trip and the Coronado Resort. Looking back, I feel they should have moved me to a different property for my peace of mind.

Unfortunately, I was not in the right frame of mine to enjoy Coronado. I will never ever go there again.

One of the many spots outside Cafe Rix to eat by the lake. So pretty.

How scary! I would be so mad!

On the other hand it's good to see and hear from you again. I hope things are going better now.

Hi!!!

Yes, I'm back-ish. I tend to have lulls inside of consistently posting. I go day by day at this point, but I'm trying to have a balance in my life in the last year and a half. :grouphug:

Unfortunately, I completely lost touch with everyone, so I need to get back in the swing of things.

As for the Coronodao, it was beyond horrid. It was the lying & covering up that really got me steamed.

May I remind you that EVERYONE makes mistakes. I really don't believe your safety was in question. Never have I met a CM with malicious intent to put someone in harm's way. This same exact thing happened to my friend and I at a hotel we stopped at on the way back from WDW. Were we mad because it was 4:00am? Yes. Did we go down to the desk and ask what happened? Yes. Did we end up getting a perfectly fine room? Yes. At a resort we stayed at on Cape Cod, the front desk assistant walked into our room. We were the only people staying in the particular building across the street from the beach. This resort still had actual keys for the doors, no cards! She let herself into our room. What did we do? We laughed. To this day, we have NO CLUE how or why it happened. To tell you the truth, it makes for a pretty funny story. Stuff happens! The thing I don't understand is that you were placed in a room that you "hate" at CSR. Hate is a really strong term to use when I'm pretty sure all of the rooms are the same, aside from the suites :confused3 As far as robbing the room.. of what? h2o products? WDW is a pretty safe place.. which is why we rarely hear of anything bad happening on property. What would a free upgrade have done besides give you a different duvet and wallpaper? So sorry a CM made a mistake and it had to ruin your whole trip.

I totally understand. I see you are going to DL in Nov...We are going to WDW and sailing the Dream in Nov.

Too bad you had such a bad experience here. I had a CM a bad CM at Pop last year. I could just tell she didn't know what she was talking about or that she wanted to help me. She circled where our Room was and our room was no where near that spot. I didn't go back and complain as we only stayed 1 night there anyways.
