Even the big grocery stores here sell local corn - it's best bought at the farmer's market though! (which reminds me - I gotta shower & dress & go down the street to the little Sunday farmers market - missed the big one on Saturday.)
Hubby grows his own in the garden, the butter and sugar corn is to die for. We've been getting tons of strawberries, too. And he does a fantastic job of canning tomatoes and he makes blue-ribbon fair pickles, as well.
Love it but it's still a bit early to find it at the roadside stands.
I've never had it cooked on the grill.......how do you do that without burning/charring it or is that how it's supposed to be? (I do like charred red, green, yellow peppers and other vegies done on the grill.....)
YUM! YES!!! I love corn on the cob! Dh does not like it, and Ds#1 doesn't care for it too much either....But DS#2 and I can polish off a corn cob or two a piece, no problem.
The best corn I've ever had was when I lived in PA on the NJ border. It was so fresh (bought at Farmer's market that morning) that it totally spoiled me . The regular stuff in the grocery store (even when I lived in CA where the produce is usually great) just couldn't match that NJ corn.
Frozen corn is to fresh corn what canned asparagus is to fresh asparagus.
