Has anybody any information on coral reef
we have booked for our coming trip but have read bad reveiws .

We ate there last week. I thought there would be more or something different on menue ( I didn't plan this meal). The resturant was nice-neat to watch the fish. Food we got was good but not exceptional. Waiter was a grouch. I enjoyed the dinner we had at the Polynesian and Prime Time Cafe better. HTH

You will find mixed reviews on most restaurants. I always recommend for people to try a place at least once and see for yourself. We heard such great things about Le Cellier and were so excited about the food and going there. It was actually one of the worst meals we had ever at WDW and the service was terrible. I would definitely try it again some day, but most people are surprised at our disappointment.
We are trying Coral Reef on our trip in September despite some negative reviews. We figure that we will enjoy the view if nothing else....lol

The CR is one of our favorite restaurants in Epcot. We have never had a bad experience there. The waitstaff is so knowledgeable and wonderful...when trying to decide on wines, they are always willing to give me a little taste before filling my glass plus they always seem to know which wine would be best paired with each dish. My kids love watching the fish in the tank, they love to make up a game trying to find each fish that is on their placemats. Also, the food is awesome, both my DH and I are big fish eaters. Lastly, the chocolate wave has to be one of the best deserts in DW, and they have a LOT of very yummy deserts around the world. My suggestion to you is to be your own critic and try it, you may like it as much as we do.

Went two months ago. Yuck. Very disappointed with the food, especially for the price. Very limited menu choices.

Coral Reef is one of our absolute favorites! The view is exceptional, and the food... oh the food! We loved it last summer, so we're going again this year.

We ate there in Jan of 05 for DD's bday. I honestly do not remember what we ate or if it was good or bad food. What I do remember is how fascinated my kids(and me &DH)were with the aquarium! That will always be remembered as a special night because it is so unique. I really think you should try it at least once!

I ate there last year, and loved the atmosphere! But the food portion was sooooo tiny! I ordered the salmon, and it came in a tiny portion, with 3 tiny red potatoes, on top of a giant piece of reddish lettuce. That was the whole meal! And I hate lettuce! I thought the meal would be more from the description on the menu, so live and learn! I ate super slowly since I wanted to enjoy the aquarium, and that meal was so small that I would have finished it very quickly. I was very worried I would leave still hungry! :(

I just couldn't believe that for those prices, that the portions would be soooo small. I am not a big eater, either! But I think since then, they have changed the menu somewhat. We are going again in September (mainly for the kids to see the aquarium), and I will be ordering something else this time!

Thankyou all for your help.:goodvibes
We will still try it as if we don't we will never know and this restaurant is not just about the food .
What would i do without the Disers?:confused3

We ate there last Sept. during free dining. We really enjoyed it! We all had steak and it was excellent. The waiter was great! I was glad we didn't have to pay for it, it was expensive! I was very satisfied with Coral Reef.

After 13+ trips to WDW, we are finally trying CR!! We have heard such conflicting reports that we just hadn't wanted to take the chance. But, now I figure what the heck. It's one meal, not the whole trip. I'm anxious to see how it stacks up with other restaurants we've tried. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I just went in May after talking myself out of canceling the reservation after I heard all the bad reviews too. When we went in I felt we were setting ourselves up for disaster. The waiting area felt like we were waiting in line for a ride, it was extremely noisy also. Our resie was for 6:10 we showed up at 6:05 and there were a lot of people in the waiting area. Every so often a staff member would walk out and quietly say someones name like with a question on there face. At 6:20 my husband asked how much longer and commented on how they call there names. The girl said it was Disney magic how they found you.? anyway we decided to wait 5 more minute before we left and were called in about four later. In the actual restaurant the scenery was nice, it wasn't to loud but was loud enough that I didn't feel I stuck out with my 3 yearold. The food was actually very good also. Overall I would probably go back the only bad part was the waiting room.

We ate there on the 25th and it was my favorite meal of the week. I was hesitant about the reservation because I too had read many, many bad reviews but finally decided to just do it.

DH is not a seafood fan but he was able to get a steak that he enjoyed stating it was cooked the way he wanted it.

DD4 orderedoff the kids menu which was great - she had Mahi Mahi and ate every bite.

I had the spicy catfish (sorry can't remember the specific name) with monterrey jack grits and it was phenomenal.

We were on the dining plan and were treated exceptionally well by our server who gave us the best service we received all week. She knew the menu very well and took the time to go over everything on it and give us time to process.

Ultimately you're going to hear good and bad things about nearly every restaurant at Disney. If you really want to try soemthing than I think you should.

There are good and bad things to say about all the Disney restaurants. I've only been to Coral Reef once, and I really have no desire to go again. It wasn't that it was bad, but I expected much more. It was a nice lunch, though. When you walk in it had this awful smell. (fish) The waiter was great, he was so funny, but the aquarium wasn't that great. You expect it to be huge, but its two smaller windows, and pictures don't turn out.

Here's a picture of the main dining room. There are three tiers of seating - the first row is against the tank, the second in the middle, and the third is a row of booth seating against the back wall. This photo is taken at the far end as you enter the dining room.

We had no problems seeing into the three tanks at all from our seat in the back row. We actually preferred this arrangement because we had a good panoramic allowing us to see the divers move from one tank to the other. You can read the signs they hold easily enough and we watched the diverse view of fish travel from one window to another and then out of view.

Pictures are best taken without flash to ensure you don't get the reflection off the thick glass.

We love it here, it was the best meal of the trip. Dh chose this over Le Cellier for our next trip he liked it so well, but others have made valid points.

The waiting area is horrid, little place to sit and it is loud. But once we got past that we had great service, wonderful food and a great time.

We were in the 2nd tier of booths and DD had a great view. She loved to watch the shark.

I'm sorry if this is a little off-topic, but we are also going to Coral Reef for the first time in about two weeks. Question is, does anyone have some info and the phone number to call to see if I can get a diver to hold a special sign?? Not too sure of the times they do this and it might not work out, but figure I would give it a shot.

Any info would be most appreciated.

We went for lunch last week. I had made an adr but we still had to wait a while. The food was good as usual but the portions seemed pretty small when you have 2 hungry teens. DH had the blackened catfish which also seemed like a small portion and the soup, ds 15 had the kids pizza with chicken and kid sized soup and the make your own sundae. DS 17 had the strip steak, very small portion and it came with cheesy potatoes and broccolini, like 2 small stalks. He also had soup. I had the lobster salad. Even the server told me without me asking that it was a "small" portion. The soup that came with it was no more than 3 actual soup spoons full. The salad that came with it was not a salad at all but only the greens that the lobster salad was lying on. The lobster salad was a small portion but very fresh and good. DH and I shared the citrus creme brule, very good but I miss the butterscotch one they had in nov. The bread was good as always. It was very noisy and crowded, no empty seats anywhere.
