Coral Reef Review

Thanks for the review! The Coral Reef is our ADR our first night, so it is nice to hear we should be off to a good start. (It is one of the few places we have NOT already tried.)

Glad to hear it was so yummy!

How is the view at night versus the view during that day? Does the tank get more light and is prettier in the daytime?

Do we need to request tank side with our PS reservation?

I've only been there once, so I don't know how the tank looks at different times of day - sorry.

We requested tank-side at check-in. We also told them that we would be willing to wait for a table. I think we got lucky that our wait was so short.

Good to hear a good review on Coral Reef. I am making an ADR today for my January trip and you just helped me feel a lot better about it. THANKS!

We have adr for coral reef its one of my most anticipated restaurants!!I cant wait for the Chocolate wave cake! My entree will be either steak or Mahi Mahi. I ve never eaten Mahi Mahi though and am a bit apprehensive!!

I'm glad you had such a great meal. We are trying Coral Reef for lunch in August for the first time. You have me looking forward to it. ;)

Great review, thanks for posting. DH and I are looking forward to trying Coral Reef in December. We've been inside and it looks so beautiful, looking forward to trying the Chocolate Wave too! :mickeyjum

I wish they would ship that stuff out! I still have dreams about it..... YUM!!! :cloud9:

Thanks for the great review of the restaurant! We'll be eating there on our trip down at the end of August and now I can't wait! :thumbsup2

magicmouse2... I'm trying to decide between the steak and mahi mahi too! I've read great reviews on both, so I'm torn! (Also, deciding between the same 2 items at Kona Cafe one night too! ) There could always be worse decisions to make... ;)

I had the Pan-seared Flounder with wasabi mashed potato and soy glaze. FANTASTIC! I was full about half-way through but couldn’t stop myself! The flounder was seared perfectly, slightly crunchy on the outside, flaky and juicy on the inside. This was soooo good!!!!!!!! The mashed potatoes had a mild wasabi flavor highlighted by the soy glaze from the flounder. I highly recommend this dish!

!

I was just wondering, are the wasabi mashed potatos spicy? If so, a little or a lot? I like some spicy, just curious. Thanks! :thumbsup2

Honestly I felt the meal was a bit too pricey for what you received. However it was good quality, and sitting next to the tank was quite a treat. We loved it, and I'd do it again. But I think for the menu prices you can do better in other upscale restaurants on property.

I didn't think they were spicy at all, just a hint of wasabi flavor. They were very good!
