We were about 5 minutes late for our reservation, but only had to wait 5 minutes to be seated at a table beside the tank. What an amazing view! There were divers in the water, and the kids got a kick out of waving at them. They also had a lot of fun circling the fish that they spotted on the list they were given when we were seated.

We were on the dining plan, and our server was wonderful!

We started with 3 shrimp cocktails. These were cool and yummy. The sauce was slightly on the sweet side but with enough bite. The shrimp was cooked well, slightly firm. Very good.

DS4 had the pizza and DS7 had the fresh catch of the day which was Mahi-Mahi. The pizza was a big hit! I was really surprised that DS7 didn’t like his fish. He normally devours fresh fish. DH tasted it and said that it was very salty. Both kids shared the pizza.

DH had the Pan-Seared Crab Cakes which he did not share with me!!! He said that they were very good, and he cleaned his plate.

I had the Pan-seared Flounder with wasabi mashed potato and soy glaze. FANTASTIC! I was full about half-way through but couldn’t stop myself! The flounder was seared perfectly, slightly crunchy on the outside, flaky and juicy on the inside. This was soooo good!!!!!!!! The mashed potatoes had a mild wasabi flavor highlighted by the soy glaze from the flounder. I highly recommend this dish!

We followed up with a build you own sundae for the kids, and chocolate waves for DH and me.

Normally I would have chosen the Butterscotch Brulee, but I had read so many good things about the Chocolate Wave that I had to try it. WOW! This may have been the best dessert I’ve ever had. It was warm, chocolate heaven! DH loved it as much as I did. We both gobbled up every bite of the cake and the white chocolate ice cream.

This was a wonderful, relaxing, fantastic meal. The boys all wanted to eat there every night of the trip.

Rating... 8 thumbs up - we all gave it 2 each!!!

Ooops....
EDITED TO ADD...
I forgot to add how much the kids loved that sundae! They shared it, and it was more than enough for both of them. I just cut the ice cream "bowl" in half and they each topped their own. Our server was kind enough to bring them and extra plate for sharing. They even had extra topping left over!!

Yea! I am so happy to hear good reports on Coral Reef, I am so looking forward to our ADR in Aug.. See I am torn between the brulee and the wave..Im pretty sure the wave will win too since I will get the brulee at Le Cellier later that week..lol Thanks for the review!!

Enjoyed reading your review ~ Thanx for sharing.

Yay! I'm so glad to see a good report of CR. It's one of our faves and we're planning to go back in Jan.

Thanks for the review - glad you enjoyed it - cant wait to try the choc wave - YUM! :goodvibes

I can't wait to try the chocolate wave!!! Were the entree and appetizers on the small side? My DH and I are planning to share 2 apps and entrees with 2 small kids. We'll probably get them their own dessert to share(because I don't want to share mine).Thanks.

How old are your kids? I'm only asking because the entrees were kind of "fancy". My kids (4 and 7) wouldn't even taste them. They were pretty big and would have been enough to share between an adult and child (probably not enough for 2 adults to share one).

The shrimp cocktail was larger than I expected. It came in a wine glass with the sauce at the bottom and shrimp on top. I didn't count, but I think I remember there being at least 6 jumbo boiled shrimp. Our son only ate about 3, so Dad finished it for him.

You could probably share the chocolate wave - but don't! Make yourself sick eating the whole thing - like I did!!! And I plan to do it again on the next trip, and the next, and the next...!!!!!

For the kids you might want to consider letting them share a pizza and sundae. Both were big hits with our boys.

We're looking forward to Coral Reef in August.

DS9 really likes mahi mahi, so hopefully he can order that and it won't be too salty. One time when we went to dinner for his birthday he ordered a cheeseburger and I had mahi mahi. They toasted the bun for his burger (which is a huge no-no in his book) so he ate my food instead of his own. I guess that's one way to et him to try new things! :rotfl:

So glad you enjoyed this restaurant! Can't wait for August as I have been planning on the Flounder and wasabi potatoes, so glad to hear they are as good as they sounded!!!

Watching the divers is great fun, for a past anniversary I got my husband the Divequest package, then we ate at CR later, and he had so much fun giving us his "behind the scenes" insight while we ate :)

Thanks so much for your review! Can't wait to have the flounder and chocolate wave for myself in September. Just one ?-what's wasabi?

Have you ever tried sushi? If so, it is the green, Japanese horseradish that you use to spice it up. It can be very strong with sushi - a real sinus clearer! But in these potatoes you can only detect a hint of the flavor, not spicy at all.

My kids are 3 and 1 but will eat just about anything. They both love shrimp so the cocktail is a must. Maybe we'll be safe, though, and order a kid's entree to share if DH and i order something too exotic. Thanks for the advice!

I'm glad to hear you had a wonderful meal and experience. We couldn't decide whether to book our ADR there after debating back and forth over what others have said about it. We decided that since we've BEEN wanting to try it and it looks like an awesome place to eat that we might as well try give it a shot. If we don't like it we don't have to go back. What you had sounds delicious. I'll definitely keep that in mind when we go in October! (Free dining-yay! :thumbsup2 )

thanks for the review - you've got me super-excited about eating lunch there on july 4th! :bounce: i was thinking about getting the mahi-mahi - hmmm, maybe i will rethink that....too bad the flounder isn't on the lunch menu! :sad2:

Thanks for your review. The chocolate wave is yummy and for DDPers it's a great deal now that it's 1 TS. Can't beat the atmosphere!

Thank you for the great review.
I choose my birthday dinner at CR on 12th coming up. After reading so many not so good review, I was getting nervous about it..
You know a girl can only turn 40 once. :guilty:

Last Year and then this year i am getting the food plan last year i got a 12oz Loster for $65 and it was exllent

Glad to hear it was so yummy!

How is the view at night versus the view during that day? Does the tank get more light and is prettier in the daytime?

Do we need to request tank side with our PS reservation?
