Trying to decide between Teppan Edo in Japan or Coral Reef for dinner. We are 2 adults and 3 kids, 14, 11 and 8. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!:cool1::yay::dance3::laundy:

I think both are great.

Teppan Edo is good entertainment for dinner. You watch them cook right at the table and the chef puts a little showmanship into it. Food was good too,

If you kids like to wathc fish in the aquarium then the Coral Reef is good for that. Food is excellent thier.

We have eaten at both for dinner and are a split family. I like Coral Reef with its relaxed atmosphere and I love the fish tanks. We really enjoyed getting a chance to see the fish swim as we eat dinner. My husband really liked Teppan Edo. He liked them cooking food to taste in front of you. I think the rooms at Teppan Edo are a little tight. It's really no different then the hibachi restaurant that we have in our town. I think it's fine enough, but nothing exciting. Even with the entertainment during dinner, my kids got a little antsy. We also found it to be very warm inside the restaurant.

We've been to both a couple times and have enjoyed the meals. I think the Coral Reef tanks are nice and although they are enjoyable they aren't a constant distraction - allowing for a more relaxed atmosphere. You can really enjoy the family time and talk. Teppan Edo is entertaining and we really enjoy going there but it almost requires your attention 100% while the chef is prepping the meal. Personally I enjoy the food there more but the entertainment can take away from the quality family time.

I'd go with what atmosphere you think your family would enjoy best. They are 2 of my family's favorite places to eat at Epcot. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Great food and fun atmospheres at both! Enjoy!!

I think both are fine... we went to Teppan Edo in 2008 and it was fine. I'm not sure how it works with seating. We had a large group so we had a room to ourselves. I think it's possible to sit with another party????

Anyway, food was good, but we have Japanese Steakhouses like that all over the place at home.... with the flipping shrimp and volcano tricks and fancy knives and all that.

We really liked Coral Reef. But we also have a large aquarium museum (National Aquarium in Baltimore) too.

It's a coin toss for us.

TE has great food, but when we went, the other couples we sat w/ were low energy, so I felt like my husband & I were the only couple wanting to have a good time. That was my only problem. The chef was excellent & so was the food. I just think people were tired @ our table. It does require a little participation to enjoy it fully. Next time we go we will book an earlier seating.

I think we are alone in this feeling, but... we hated Coral Reef. It smelled like FISH. I understand it is a seafood restaurant... and there is the aquarium... but we couldn't enjoy our steak because of it.

TE is GREAT with kids, and just plain fun in general!! We have never regretted eating there!

I ate at both on our last trip. I was glad to eat at Coral Reef, I had always wanted to eat there and it was nice, but nothing really great. To be honest, I don't even remember what I ate, so it wasn't memorable food wise. But I was glad to go for the experience, if not for the food.

Teppan Edo was excellent food. I agree with the PP about the group that you're seated with, if you have people that are sort of "blah" it won't be as fun. I will say that you should definitely have an earlier ressie. We had a late one b/c it was just my partner and I and we were doing F&W...well we had to wait for 90 minutes before we checked back and were told they were going to bump our reservation. Needless to say, myself and several others were quite upset and they ended up seating us. Great meal, lots of fun.

My family has eaten at both and while we enjoyed our meal at Coral Reef, we loved our meal at Teppan Edo. :goodvibes

My family and i went in 2005 We loved the coral reef. the food was great. my boys loved watching the fish swim around.

We are going back in April and we will be going both place. we have never been to the teppan edo before. but we are really excited about going ...

We have been to both with our children. We loved both experiences. As stated Teppan Edo is a little bit busier environment then Coral Reef and the service/food prep is part of the entertainment. At Coral Reef the aquarium is really beautiful. We got lucky and there were divers in the tank during our meal which was neat.

I would look at the menus and make sure they meet the needs of all three of your children and then pick the menu that will make them the happiest.

Either one, I think your children will enjoy as long as they like the food offered.

Have fun.
