Can you order off the dinner menu at lunch? We have a late lunch ADR and would like to order off the dinner menu at Coral Reef.

I don't know about the Coral Reef, but, I ordered off the dinner menu at lunch time at Kona Cafe, LeCellier and Concourse Steakhouse. When I asked the waitress, she had to ask the chef if it could be done. There were alway certain things that couldn't be ordered at lunch time due to the fact that some things are being cooked all day long and aren't ready until dinner time, such as prime rib (at least that's what I was told). At LeCellier, if you're wanting to order the dinner filet at lunch time, it shouldn't be a problem (that's what I ordered).

Thanks for the reference to the Podcast. I knew I had read about ordering dinner off the Coral Reef lunch menu from somewhere. Here is what it said: (cut and pasted from the DIS article):
[U[/U]] "I asked our waiter if the menu I was looking at was a lunch menu or the menu used for the entire day. I was told that there was also a dinner menu, so I asked if I could look at it. He brought the menu and I asked if it was possible to order from the dinner menu. I was told that it would be “no problem at all” to order a dinner!"

I tried on our last trip and told no. I wanted to try the shrimp pasta at lunch time and it's only on the dinner menu. I asked our server and he said no, they couldn't do that. So I got the ceasar salad. Guess it doesn't hurt to ask, maybe the policy has changed or it was the item I wanted.

They should offer dinner at lunch since it is so busy at dinner time and overbooked. It would be fair.;)

do you book a TS at lunch to be able to eat at the restaurant? I'm just new and going in September and trying to get a handle on all this ADR stuff. :O I'm very excited but a little overwhlmed!

Any TS restaurant you want to eat at, breakfast, lunch or dinner, you need to book your ADR asap since you are going during a very busy time for the restaurants. Many are already booked out. You probably will not be able to walkup to any TS without an ADR in September.

I guess that means that you can't order a lunch item at dinner as well. I noticed that the prime rib is only served at lunch. pirate:

the Prime Rib is gone now. The menu you are looking at has probably not been updated. There was a new menu for lunch and dinner when we were there last month. I noticed that both dis and deb don't have the new lunch menu posted.

the prime rib is gone????

ah, geez....

that's what i was planning to have when we go in october....

figures it's gone.

A little overwhelmed? It can be WAY overwhelming. A lot of people who can't get in at dinner do book for lunch instead, especially during free dining, when ADR's can be really hard to get. Not to mention that when it's free, most people don't worry as much about getting the best possible value for their DDP credits (lunches are usually cheaper than dinners).

If you're just starting to make ADR's, the best advice I have is to be flexible. If you want to eat at some of the most popular restaurants, be willing to eat early, or late, or lunch instead of dinner, or early or late lunch, etc. Sometimes, you just have to give them your dates and ask if they have anything at X restaurant during your stay. Good luck!

Do you recall if they still have grilled chicken and pork on the dinner menu? pirate:

I don't remember. It was very new and I tried to remember it. There was some new stuff like a lobster salad on a baget on the lunch menu. I thought that the menu boards would be updated by now. The lunch menu changed when the dinner menu did. I think deb's site has the new dinner menu.

Deb's site has the dinner menu as of May 2007. I would hope that nothing has changed since then. pirate: :wizard:

:sad1: I know there is a link to a menu right above me but I don't see Lobster on that menu and I can't remember for the life of me if it was on there when we went in 05. I know we ate it but could it have been a special? Do they post specials? Does anyone know for sure if it was removed from the menu and when? One last thing is there anywhere in the 'World" other then cap n' jacks that we can get lobster on DDP?pirate:
My daughter was so looking forward to lobster dinner in Coral Reef that I actually made 2 ADR's there.
Lastly, is there a number I could call to ask them directly?:confused3
Thanks all.

I believe the lobster left when Coral Reef went from a 2TS in 2005 to a 1TS in 2006. There is still lobster at Narcossee's (which is a 2TS).
