I have read that Copper Creek isn't a good choice to buy into if you are only wanting to book studios. I love the décor and location. I'd only buy the minimum which I think is 100 points. What are your thoughts?

Prepare to be disappointed. How about purchasing BRV instead of CCV?

If you're willing to book right at 11-months you should be fine for most times of the year except the fall/December season. January-April studios have been lasting for about a week after the 11-month window opened, but thats about the extent you can wait unless you want to book during spring break as they are still open right now, but require a lot of points - more than 100 - even for a studio stay.

But if you can't book a studio at 11 months out at CCV and you don't have enough points to book a one bedroom, you are going to have a very hard time finding a non-home resort studio for that time period at seven months out.

11 months from today studios are completely booked. ......

And........

11 months from today, May 1 2020, studios are completely booked at cc.

Edit. This was at 9:50 AM.

Hopefully this post provides some more details besides just doom and gloom. But in all seriousness I watch the availability at CCV almost daily. It has had odd booking patterns for sure and not discounting the cabin issue. Specifically it was easy to get a Studio at 11 months for mid-January to end-April with a small issue for the Princess Marathon weekend. Now what I find odd is May is just as expensive point wise as mid-January to mid-February and moderately less than mid-February through March this year (a single point a day). What is making people book right away for May then? It must be more desirable than the times mentioned above because people seem to be booking ASAP again but were lax for a while. Or it is point owners buying in recently with the 2 years of points that are booking trying to burn a hole through their pockets. The first year after sold out we will see the truer booking patterns (once things go normal for the resort)

To the OP be aware that DVC could assign points from the Cabins to the smaller room types. The worse case, IMO, would be point charts similar to BLT lake view because with those point charts it makes the cabins only moderately more expensive than a 2 bedroom (in my opinion they should always be more than a 2 bed). Now does DVC actually make this commitment is a different issue. They lower the points for a cabin to reasonable numbers means the cash rates for them have to lower (less money for Disney) and less of them would turn over for breakage. Though since the extra points not booking cabins goes to fill in the inventory at other resorts if DVC finds that studios and 1 beds would be better for them financially to enter breakage we will see the cabin costs lower a lot. Ideally DVC is supposed to operate in the best interest of members but PVB has been sold out for 2 years and only a moderate attempt at lowering the Bungalows was tried (but that was with a broad WDW increase of studios at a similar rate so I don’t think lowering bungalow cost was their main motive).

If you do buy at CCV you will need to be diligent on booking all year but in a few years it could be isolated to a few times out of the year but that is hard to say right now and I wouldn’t make my decision based on anything but. Also if you bump up 18-20 more points you could buy a fixed week during the cheap seasons (most, I don’t think any, weeks aren’t sold out).

Edit: To add and clarify a bit. While I said there were easy nights to get at 11 months most were still booked with a week or two, which isn’t like any of the other resorts that have broad vacancies (outside of a few room types) well outside of a week or two of reservations opening.

I don’t understand what is going on April 30 and May 1 of next you to cause the studios to be booked already.

However, I own at CC and I have been able to get a studio on all the days I’ve wanted. It did require quite a bit of stalking though.

Another thing, I just checked the official DVC website and CC is no longer listed as being for sale. Now it’s just RR and Aulani.

Guess it’s now 210 a point likely. So that might make it easier for the OP to decide also probably limits their willingness to sell a fixed week too.

I’ve had no problem booking either but I was up and clicking that button at 8 am for thanksgiving week. Though I have since dropped most of my days to move to a BWV studio. So made some people happy I assume.

April 30th is now available. So people are walking, but to when?

Maybe to May the 4th for a Star Wars weekend?

It's bizarre because the 24th to the 30th of April are still available. Also sporadic bookings (you can get a studio in April right now for everyday except the 1st, 5-7th, 16-19th, and the 23rd. For whatever reason though May 1st is booked up, but the days around it are not.

Regarding May: in some parts of the country, kids are still in school until the end of June. People who live there might forget that in other parts of the country, kids get out of school earlier.

True but I don't know of anywhere in this country where kids are out by May 1.

You might be onto something...the 30th and 1st are available now (after not being available yesterday), and now the 2nd and 3rd are gone (for a walk-in shower).
