Is anyone aware of any good deals on renting a convertible? I currently have a great rate on a full size from Alamo for 5/4 - 5/9, but would love to find a deal on a convertible - usually we have too many people & luggage, but this trip is just DD7 and I and I thought it might be fun.

I HAD a good deal on a convertible with Alamo (just happened to be the cheapest when I reserved) until United changed our flights 4 times and I had to change my reservation times. Bummer.

Just be sure to check with your car insurance to see if they cover a convertible. Ours doesn't cover specialty cars or the really large vans.

Just a FYI for future travel. If your air reservation changes there is no need to change your car reservation, they hold it for approx. 24 hours. Soooo, unless the day changed, you would have been ok with the reservation at the original time. You could have also called and they could have changed the time so you would not have lost that good deal.

You can always ask how much it would be to upgrade when you get there. Right now a new reservation for a convertable is pretty pricy.

Unless the deal was impacted by the time changes that resulted in the rate being disqualified (ie. weekend pick-up before noon on Thursday) or an the subtraction or addition of another day.

True. But, most of our weekend rentals start at 9 am on Thursday with no noon cutoff time, min 3 days, max 5 with a Sat. keep. I think I covered the extra day, when I said :

Technicality, but I think we are on the same page in overall terms.

Maybe you were trying to imply that, but the way it came across is a date change, not that an extra day could be added on by changing the hours as well.

Example: A week rental from noon Saturday to noon Saturday needed to be changed to a noon Saturday to 6:00 PM Saturday. This would have increased the rate by one day.

Very true, but, I was addressing the arrival being delayed, not the departure and if the departure did, indeed, incur the extra day charge, the prevailing rate at the time of the reservation would be applied.
