Convention ticket question

We are planning a 4 day trip to WDW before our 5 night cruise next June. DH is planning to work days during the land portion of our trip so that he can take time off later in the summer for something else, but he would like to spend evenings in the parks with us. He is scheduled to be at a convention at WDW this October and I know they offer the convention tickets that are only good in the evenings. My question is, could he purchase the convention tickets in October, not use them and then use them in June?

Thanks!

Probably not as the previous poster indicated there is a limited time frame that they can be used. Also, when you say you know they offer convention tickets you mean the specific conference he is going to be at offers tickets? You can't just buy convention tickets directly from Disney.

We went with DH to a convention last November, and yes the tickets have limitations on when they can be used. We were looking at them thinking about buying extras and keeping them til later, and then we looked at the flyer more closely, noticing the restrictions.

Thanks everyone. Allison I did mean I knew the conference offered tickets, we went last year. John, thanks for the Terms and Conditions - it made my head hurt a little but it was full of great info.

I sort of figured it wouldn't work, I just hate spending all that money for unused time - I guess if I want DH there in the evening then it's worth the cost!

I was looking up information last night as I might be going to a convention next fall. I am pretty sure I saw that you could still purchase convention tickets even if your convention did not offer them. I think you just have to give them the exact dates and conference name so they can verify. I could be wrong about the way I read it but I hope not as I'm hoping to get some evening Disney time in.

I did a search for convention tickets, and this thread popped up. I just wanted to chime in! DH went to a convention there with his employer last week (they go every year...and his company is a sponsor of some sort since they have an Epcot lounge in it's name), and came home with an extra ticket but wasn't sure what exactly it was for. I plugged in the number in MDE, found out it's an after 3pm ticket for Epcot, HS, or AK and the expiration date is 12/31/17. So it wasn't just valid the dates of the convention or before/after. Now, I only have one of these tickets, and need 2 more for a weekend trip for the MVMCP, so I did a google search to see if I can purchase after 4pm tickets...I can't. But, I found a convention ticket link that goes to Disney directly to read the fine print, and the generic message says tickets expire in 2017 also. So I would definitely check the fine print before you immediately nix the idea OP!

I have been in search of this answer too. I have a conference coming up in April -- they offer discounted conventions tickets which note the tickets can be used by the convention goer and their traveling party for park time pre/during/post convention. Then the next sentence states that the tickets will expire 14 days after first use - the typical lingo, but then states the tickets will expire 12/31/18. This would be perfect for me to buy for my family trip which is in April of 2018.

If i go by what it states, yes they should be used for the convention, but if not then could be used by the end of next year.

I am wondering do you get just the same real ticket which can be linked to the MDE? It looks like they will mail real tickets

I bought a convention ticket 3 years ago. Granted I used it that day, so probably not that helpful from a future use standpoint. I bought the ticket at my hotel (Yacht Club) and the cast member at the desk did confirm the conference I was attending. They were also able to link to to the conference b/c I was staying on site with a conference rate, that you could only book through the conference. So they had ways to confirm that I was staying there and what conference I was attending.

I'm thinking it might be too risky to buy and not really know if they will come with conference dates on them. I might call and talk with them to see what the deal is if I don't use the ticket
