Convention rates?

Hi.
I'm curious. DH has a convention rate at S/D for $184 per night. We have it reserved. Afterwards, they got booked up and now they are offering PO-R as the overflow hotel for $150.
Is it possible to get this $150 rate at another mod for ourselves or folks travelling with us if I call WDW and mention our rate code and that we'd be interested in a location other than PO-R? Or what about getting a discount on a deluxe room in a Disney hotel? What do you think?

I guess you could call & see what they offer but $150 is only $25 off the rack rate at POR during that time.

The regular reservation line cannot book a room that is discounted for a convention. You would need to ask the convention reservations group (the people you booked with originally that offered yo the overflow rate) if they are flexible with the location. I would advise you to book asap...if they already booked up the first resort, the overflow location can't be far behind and then you'll be booking rack rates.

Thanks, good to know. I knew about rack since DS has $175 at CB.
I suspected as much about calling the convention organizer, since when I called WDW-DISNEY today, the CM didn't flinch when I mentioned we were at the SANS 2006 convention at the Dolphin while inquiring about CB rates. He was trying really hard to find me a discount or PIN code, but ended up quoting me rack rate.
As it stands, I think Dolphin is a great deal at $184 and there's no need to commute to the meeting, so we'll probably stick with that.
