Trying to request room at contemporary..it only gives me highest floor and upper floor for garden view..which one do I choose? Thank you

The request screen in online check-in is sort of pointless. If there’s nothing in particular that you want to request, you don’t need to select anything. If you do have specific requests that aren’t covered by the selections, just call the reservation line and they’ll enter the requests in your reservation record.

There are only 3 floors at the garden wing, so if you don't want a ground floor room, check either box. If you prefer the top floor (no one above you), check highest floor.

Did you call the main reservation number? Sounds like the agent you spoke with was misinformed. Requests can be made at the time you make the reservation, and anytime after that.

Stinks when you get bad information from the phone CMs. You most definitely don't have to wait until 10 days out.

After reading this thread, I called yesterday after I had done online check in and she said what I put in online checkin was already there.

This is where Touring Plans service excels. Enter the info and they'll send the request and that way you don't have to battle misinformed CM, of which you are finding, there are a lot of them.

Yours is lucky.
Half the resorts don't have anything to pick from at all.
So it's not unusual for the requests to NOT be there.

Would you mind giving me an example of what you put on your TP request? I usually get what we ask for, but last time we were no where near it.

I was thinking of just skipping the request for our stay at AKL. Is there even a point if it's on DVC points?

I don't put anything other than what it enters.
Unless we want a room ready early, then I note that we'd prefer any room early vs. a requested room type.
And you aren't going to get your request every time. Odds are some of the times they simply can't fill it. There's nothing you can do to change that.
We've done DVC but never on points so no idea there. Cash yes, we have gotten our requested areas.
I don't know what harm there is in putting a request in. Worse that happens they ignore it and randomly assign, best is they try to fill it. But at no times would it hurt

If you are AKL DVC I think you've only got a very few rooms to pick from, right?

Yes the TP map doesn't pull up too much. We booked a studio savannah view.

They are all CL, right? And even better, ON the actually CL floor. There's only a handful of rooms and even fewer savannah studio, right? 3 I think?

This isn't accurate. Depends did @SaintsManiac book Kidani or Jambo. If Jambo there are Value (18 rooms), Standard (48 rooms), Savannah (57 rooms) and Club (5 rooms). If Kidani there are Standard (60 rooms) and Savannah (108 rooms). The Jambo rooms are on Floor 5 if not Club Level (I thought the club level was floor 6 which the Club DVC rooms are on). I also suggest @SaintsManiac starts their own thread for suggestions (or asks the AKV Lovers thread in DVC Resorts Forum) because there are better rooms from my understanding among the Savannah View rooms (depends on the Savannah you look at) both at Jambo and Kidani. Then this thread can remain on the OP's topic.

I'm very aware of the difference.
She said she booked AKL Savannah studio, not AKV.
AKL is Jambo, AKV is Kidani
Besides that, I asked a question, not made an inaccurate statement. The question was, are all DVC rooms at AKL CL?
Threads steer all different directions all the time but in this case, it was about a room request in general, is it worth her effort. Then I just had a question regarding AKL DVC rooms, out of sheer curiosity.

We stayed at the Contemporary (main tower) earlier this year and selected 'highest floor' online. Those room choices relate more to the main tower vs. garden wing. We got the choice we selected, but if you stop by the front desk when you arrive, you can still request something different and see what your options might be.
