1) Do these rooms have full-size balconies?

2) If you have stayed there, do you prefer the Magic Kingdom view or the Seven Seas Lagoon view?

Thanks for your help!! :goodvibes

Not sure what you mean by "full size balcony". I know that 3-4 people can sit on the balcony comfortably. They're maybe 10 feet wide by 5 feet deep, but that's simply a guess based on 2 years ago.

We preferred the MK view, but never had the Lagoon view. All I remember is that the CM checking us in acted like the MK view was the much better choice. We enjoyed watching the MK fireworks one night from our balcony.

All tower rooms have nice balconies. We requested, and received a lake view. We were able to view the MK from the concierge lounge so we had the best of both worlds. The lake view was so pretty!

If we were staying in a regular tower room and Wishes was only 1 night, I'd request a lake view. If it were every night, I'd request a MK view but would not be at all upset if we got a lake view. Or, I might not request anything and be happy with my "suprise".

Great balcony and the MK view was beautiful. Even if there are no fireworks it's great to watch the castle change colors.

I stayed there with a code rate back in 2002. The thing to remember with the MK view is that it also faces the parking lot. So.....although you got a great view of the fireworks (IF you were in your room at the time), you also had a parking lot view. It is GREAT being in the TOWER though - I think if I were to stay there again, I would try lagoon side. Oh & the rooms are HUGE!

We stayed at the CR Tower with a MK View last Fall........WE LOVED IT!!

Not only were we able to watch the Castle change colors and view the MK fireworks from the room......we were able to watch two additional firework viewings from our balconey due to a corporate event being held below. I hate to admit it....but the two firework shows (music being played on huge speakers) were the BEST I've ever seen. ANYWHERE!! Including the Disney Parks!!

I never want to go back, unless I get my Tower Room with MK View!! I definitely was spoiled!!

Thanks, everybody. I'm still debating the Contemporary because I hear about the lack of "atmosphere" but the location and room size is a big draw for me since we have a family of 5. Decisions, decisions.

I think atmosphere is under-rated at the Poly. With Chef Mickey's right in the place, the monorail running through it, the talking elevators, the spectacular views, and the short walk to the MK, I felt like I was practically staying over night in the MK!!!!!I loved it!

gosh - i can't say there is lack of atmosphere in the tower. imagine stepping out of your hotel door & seeing the monorail speeding by! all of the shops & restaurants - it is awesome! micky & minnie & other characters talk to you on the elevator (silly, but that was 1 of my favorite things).....there is NO lack of atmosphere IMO :goodvibes

...and I don't regret any bit of it! Our DD3 was amazed by our tower view of the castle and watching fireworks nightly. The room size, including the large bathroom is fantastic! You can look over the balcony from the front door of your hotel room and see the entire hotel. It is completely open.

The only complaint I had was the pool. There was not a kid's pool, although there was a splash area. I wish there had been a two or three foot pool just for little ones. However, our DD3 loved the water slide!

I would definitely stay at this hotel again, without hesitation.

sounds like you had a wonderful trip! What floor were you on? I am wondering what the difference in view is from the reg tower rooms and the 12 th floor? Thanks!

Actually, THAT is what I was planning on doing...I am going through a Disney Travel Agent and I started laughing when I saw the confirmation, it has MK view as a request. I never gave a request for which side.

It should be interesting to see if I get an MK view or not. I won't be upset if I don't though because I have heard the Lake View is very nice too.

For that matter, I'm just happy we are going and I'm in the tower! :cool1: (from what I can tell from the Disney website - the Contemporary is booked up when we are going...won't even pull it up for me anymore!)

With the MK view, there is the parking lot but it is just below the balconies. The MK view rooms also have a spectacular view of the Seven Seas Lagoon. You can watch the monorails as the circle the lagoon and also watch the boats as they travel between the TTC and MK. You can also have a view of the electric water pagent as it moves from the Poly to Grand Floridian.

I am trying to get DH convienced that we need to stay in this resort, but he is resisting me. LOL!!!! I emailed him a link to this thread for him to read.

He likes the idea of the tower view of MK and watching the fireworks from our room {DD loves to watch fireworks, but can't stand the loud booms}. The idea of the resturants being there, plus the monorail, and walking to MK if we want. But what he doesn't like is the price, that is the only thing that is holding him back.

We aren't going until 2006, so hopefully by then Disney will be releasing more codes so we could get a good rate on the room.

Going to check with AAA and get some quotes for this year to get some idea on how much it would cost for 2006. I know the price will be some what higher in 2006, but at least I will have some idea on what their prices are.

1) Do these rooms have full-size balconies?

yes.

2) If you have stayed there, do you prefer the Magic Kingdom view or the Seven Seas Lagoon view?

I enjoy both. But, if you have an MK view, you're looking at the Seven Seas Lagoon. Bay Lake, is the view it you can't see the MK. :)

Our two families just returned from our trip last week. We stayed on the tenth floor on opposite corners, one facing MK, the other the Lake. Both were wonderful. Some nights they joined us for Wishes viewing, others we caught the Electric Water Pageant.

One night, it seemed there was a Prom event, and the parking lot was busy. Some party-goers yelled eagerly to their friends below. But our kids slept undisturbed, and we would opt to the MK view again.

The Contemporary has a special place in my heart as it's where we always stayed when the kids were with us. The rooms are spacious, it's got the biggest game room of all the resorts and the conveniences can't be beat anywhere on Disney Property. Anyway, we always stayed on the lagoon side. I loved it and would not even consider the MK side. I love the peaceful view, and watching the people boating and handgliding, and at night I just LOVE watching the Electrical Water Pageant make it's way past my balcony at 10:00. It was like my kids special Disney "good night". Enjoy your stay, I think you'll love it. The Contemporary so often gets a "bad rap", but it just "vibrates" with everything that's Disney. It's an absolutely wonderful resort.
