I know that the contemporary resort has ballrooms, but I see the only places listed for reception sites there are the rooms in the California Grill? Anyone know if the contemporary's ballrooms are available for wedding receptions. It's my favorite resort and I would love to have my reception there, I just don't care for the CG?

hmmm good question. I love that resort too:goodvibes We are staying there for our honeymoon;) I know that they do have those rooms, but I have never heard of them being used for a reception. :confused3 Hopefully someone can help you with this:)

We spent a bit of time in the Contemporary in September. We had 2 different meals there and we looked at the guest rooms to see if we wanted to stay there for our wedding. So, we walked around quite a lot in the main building. From what I saw, I actually don't think they have ballrooms, just meeting rooms, which aren't really all that pretty. THey're on the second third and maybe fourth floors I think, and I beleive they don't have windows or if they do they are so low they look directly onto the parking lot. All we saw in thore rooms the whole time were meeting sessions for convention groups, so I have a feeling they keep those rooms pretty full. I'm sure if they were fit for a wedding, they'd be on the wishbook. ALso, the Contemporary is having major construction right now, so I'm not sure that you'd want to plan too much at that resort just not knowing what phase of construction they might be in at that point. You should always check with Disney, but I think that you wouldn't want them for a wedding once you saw the rooms.

last year when I was there, staying at the CR, a school had their prom there, took a peak inside and it looked pretty from what I saw. I'm thinking of the boardwalk. At first was thinking of the GF, but went for a look around with my sisters and none of us like the atmosphere there.

Hope I can help!

Ok, when I went to look at possible reception sites for my wedding back in October, I had requested to look at the Contemporary Resort, b/c it's my favorite resort. My sales person told me that not too many people use it b/c the decor isn't "ideal" for weddings. When I got there, I saw that she was right: kind of bland. it was better for meetings. BUT, she also told me that Disney was going to be revamping the whole fairy tale weddings thing and that the Contemporary resort was going to get a makeover. It is going to be a mix of asian and contemporary features. Disney just launced this new set of weddings, so I'm sure that you can find pictures of what it is going to look like. So, yes you can use it as a space (the ballrooms are HUGE), but the updates may not be complete yet. You'd have to check.

Good luck!

The contemporary ballrooms are a bit bland; however, they could also serve as a blank canvas depending on what you were going for.

If you go to www.disneymeetings.com and select the Contemporary (under Resorts and Facilities) there will be a link on the left side of the page entitled "Virtual Site Inspection." It will allow you to view 360 degree views of most of the rooms. That way you can see for yourself. :)

that Disneymeetings website is really cool. I have been looking at all the stuff on the page... TY:thumbsup2

The new David Tutera Collection wedding receptions will be held at the Contemporary, which might mean that Wishes receptions won't be allowed there. Then again, it could mean they'll have a lot more space for all wedding receptions! :)

just went onto that website , can you use the whitehall at GF to host a reception? its a lovely room and we only have a small group

we had prom at the Contempory back in the day...(way back..lol)
it isnt real pretty and needs lots of decorations....

Hopefully the new element will make it more usefull in the future..
the rooms however are very large or meeting size
not much inbetween

Well I don't know how big you wedding reception will be, but my DF and I are having our reception in the Napa Room in the California Grill. It looks out on the catwalk (where you can watch Wishes after dinner). It has a great view of the MK. If you have a nighttime reception you can try and time it to watch Wishes from there and get some great pictures with Fireworks in the background. Here are the pictures they send me of the room. It can hold up to 50 people and has a dance floor and built in bar.
