Trying to make a decision for December--which hotel would you choose to spend the Holidays and why?

The Polynesian is more expensive but is definitely the better place. It has great theming and a wonderful pool. You can also avoid a transfer on the monorail because the Transportation and ticket center is in walking distance and you can get right on the epcot monorail. However, your decision is one i would love to have. Both resorts are wonderful. The CR is a DISNEY CLASSIC as well!

I would pick the Contemporary myself, something about the Polynesian just depresses me, I stayed in the Contemporary in June and absolutely loved it.

I would pick the Poly. I stayed at the Contemp in 1995 and other than the convenience of the monorail, I've stayed at Motel 6's that I've liked better. Usually a hotel/motel is just a bed to me and I couldn't care less about the theming but the Contemp just doesn't reek of anything special. The Poly seems so lush and tropical compared to the Contemp's mismatched coloring. Granted, I haven't stayed in the Poly so I'm probably comparing apples to oranges but I like Guapy's notion about the ease of transfer to the Epcot monorail. The one thing I'd say negative about the Poly is how far it might be to walk to the monorail from some of the rooms.

I was asking myself the same question about a month ago. I ended up booking the WL because of the wonderful Christmas decorations. It is also very convenient to the MK. I love both the Poly and the CR. It's very hard for me to choose. I love all the storage space and the bright colors of the CR. You cannot beat the Tower rooms there. But the Poly is so romantic. I would not know which to pick either. Good luck!

I'd choose the Contemporary, especially the Tower.

hi: we've stayed at both of your choices over the years- half a dozen times at the contemporary and once at the polynesian. i think a lot depends on whether you will have kids with you and what ages they are. we usually had 3 kids with us (teens and younger) when we stayed there. the kids preferred the contemporary for the snack bar, arcade, and restaurants. the theming at both is vastly different; the contemporary is more hustle and bustle and the polynesian is a bit more laid back. the teens felt the polynesian was too quiet and the little one really missed the arcade at the contemporary. you'll have to decide which will fit your family's needs the best. to agree with a previous poster, the wl does have really outstanding holiday decorations though.

I recently spent the New Year's Holiday at the Contemporary Tower Club Level. I really liked the Contemporary, and would definetly do the Tower Club again. I've also stayed at the Polynesian, Summer 2000, in Concierge Lagoon. It was nice as well, but I think I preferred the Contemporary. I'd stay at both again, though.

:)

We like the Poly better. We stayed at the CR for one night at the beginning of our Dec. 2001 trip and found it to be a "Jetsons" vacation spot. The room was too "loud" for me. And the main building was very cold. Of course that is the theme for the resort, we just didn't care for it. But I am glad I got to experience it once.

We spent a glorious week there last October. Our room faced
the MK, we had a great view of the fireworks. Theres nothing
like getting off the monorail and taking the elevator right up to
your room after a long days walking. But we do love going
to Kona Cafe for breakfast...LOVE the french Toast
