Thanks everyone for the info. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 It's great to hear from so many Disney pros. Keep it coming!!! Floor and room suggestions???

You have totally confused me now...not to say the Contemporary isn't nice, but... I mean... shouldn't you be saying "Poly"? It gets my vote!

We all know Tikiman LOVES the Poly and it is a great resort. DH and I loved it for our Disneymoon. I think Tikiman was agreeing that for the best view of the fireworks and of the MK, that the CR is the best by far. The OP asked which of the 2 resorts had the best view, not which resort was best. Here are a few of my pictures from our 12th floor room 2 weeks ago. It was spectacular!

We loved the CR. We have stayed at the Poly LV with a MK view, the GF Concierge, and now the CR Concierge. For our kids and family, the CR Mk view is definitely the best right now. The view was amazing and we loved the monorail. Honestly, I think you will love whichever one you choose. But if the VIEW is the most important factor, then I don't think anyone could argue that the CR MK view is the best.

There are more pictures in that same photobucket account (see the pictures link in my signature). Hope you have a great time wherever you choose!

Have to disagree with you there, Triplefigs. I much prefer the view from Hawaii.

Although I've not stayed in the Atrium Club, I've dined at the California Grill many, many times and the view is spectacular but just not as magical for me and my family.

Different strokes! ;)

My vote is for CR! I stayed there once when my dd was one, and we'll be staying there again in November when she'll be 29 months. It's so convenient to be able to walk to the MK, plus she loves to watch the monorail come through the hotel, and her favorite character meal is Chef Mickey's! I really hope I get a refurbed room! :goodvibes

My opinion is the Polynesian is the best resort in every category, but that is opinion. The facts are that the Polynesian is better in some things but the fact is also that the view it much closer at the Contemporary. Too many people give the Contemporary a hard time but it has just as much history as the Polynesian and if people knew more about the resort they would not give it such a hard time. Also it was the original Flag ship resort (even though the Polynesian did open first). I myself prefer the view from the beach of the Polynesian but who can argue that the view from the tower at the Contemporary is not the best in WDW?

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the Contemporary open on October 1st, 1971 which was the grand opening of Walt Disney World & I think the Polynesian opened a few weeks later. So how could the Polynesian have opened 1st? What I remeber reading when WDW 1st opened the only places on property to stay at was the Contemporary & Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. I know your the Disboards Polynesian Resort expert here, but all I am saying is to double check your information when it came to the opening of the Contemporary & Polynesian.

That's what is so great about WDW. We have loved staying in all 3 of the Deluxe monorail resorts. Each one has its own special qualities that make it wonderful. The Poly was so romantic for our honeymoon, the GF was just magical last December for the Christmas holidays, and the CR MK view was just fantastic in Sept and we loved watching the monorail. Good reasons to take more trips and try them all again and again and again!

My vote is for CR if it is all about view and convenience to MK. The arcade is also second to none for kids (DQ not included). Although we don't use the monorail that much when we are at CR, it is nice to wait in airconditioning as opposed to the walkway at Poly on hot and muggy days. Otherwise, you will probably like the ambience better at the Poly with the lush gardens and tiki torches. The pool is also nicer at the Poly IMO. Given that I can usually book the CR for on average $75 less than the Poly per night, I would generally go for the CR if both were available.

They both officially opened October 1st but the Polynesian Officially opened earlier in the day. Also the rooms at the Polynesian were done days ahead of the Contemporary so they used the Polynesian as the Press Office before the opening of WDW. This information came from People that were there and set up the Press office as well as the Disney Data Base that has information on the opening day of the park and resort.

I just found out about the press office from this article http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=ww061018ws

but I do have some official documents and references that show that the Polyensian not only opened on October 1 but is listed as opening first even if it was a few hours.

Any time.

By the way I think you should make a Contemporary Web site. That resort deserves a good informative site.

Your not the 1st person who has told me that lol. Do you think you can send me a PM or something on the steps to creating my own Contemporary site, since you must have the knowledge about how to create a web site & the fact a lot of people refer to your Polynesian web site.

Believe it or not it is easy since I am in no way a web designer (I know shocker…right) and I did it. I would be happy to give you some ideas on how to start one. If you ever get one started I might have some stuff to contribute since my research over the years on the Polynesian always come up with info on the Contemporary also.

I have some historical information about the Contemporary, however it can't hurt to have some more. Anyway whenever I do get a chance to create a Contemporary Resort web site, I will let you know if I need any help.

You are going to have an absolutely LOVELY time with either resort I'm sure! One thing I FINALLY learned was that the Poly is a gorgious resort and it is a waste of time being anxious over your room. (especially lagoon view-you won't be disappointed) So that is the advice I would give to you, quit worrying about exactly which room once you pick a resort. If you do pick the Poly, just be sure to specify if you would prefer a belcony. The second floor in Hawaii does not have them. Beyond that, don't fret. Have A WONDERFUL time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good points-- the view is definitely great from the CR. I actually had a MK view room booked there, but switched for the theming. Read the OP, just Tikiman threw me there... Thanks for sharing the pictures!

To the OP. Since you said yourself you want a great view of the fireworks, then if one is available you should book a Maigc Kingdom view room at the Contemporary. Everyone has agreed it's the best view for the fireworks, so if that is your main consideration for a WDW Resort, then the Contemporary is the best option you can have.
