Hi everyone , I wear contacts ( and glasses when I have to ) I was wondering if on the slides does the water splash up into your face ? I could invest in some of those little eye google things ( sorry but how dorky ) or wear my glasses if that is the case. Thanks for your help Michelle

Yes, at the end of some of the water rides, the water will splash in your face and sometimes you will end up under the water if you're not that coordinated (like me!). However, I wear my contact lenses to the waterparks and have never had a problem. I just keep my eyes closed! :)

Thanks I was hoping someone would say that.. I have had mine for over 15 years ( well not the same pair but you know ) and have been to several water parks and swim in the summer with them but was just making sure that there will be some tamer slides that I can do.. Thanks again .. Michelle

I also wear hard contacts and just try to keep my eyes closed when I come to the end of a slide. I've had better luck w/that than w/glasses which get splashes on them. Plus glasses may fall off too, and it's cheaper to replace one contact than a pair of glasses.

I've been wearing contacts for 16 years. I had no problems at Typhoon Lagoon last July. Just closed my eyes at the end. Have fun!

I just went to my eye doctor last week, and he told me some truly disgusting stories about patients getting really nasty amoebic eye infections from wearing contacts swimming.

*** warning: skip this part if you're squeamish ***

Basically, "critters" in the water can get stuck to the outside of the contact. You put the contacts in their case for the night, which lets the critter crawl onto the inside part of the lens. Next morning, you put the lens back in, thus sealing him onto your eyeball --> where he can then burrow into your eye! *barf!!!!!*

*** gross part over, safe to resume ***

I've ordered a box of one-day lenses so I won't have to worry about it. I'm sure the actual risk/probability is very small, but my eyesight is horrible already, and the very idea grosses me out to the point where I'm willing to spend the ~ $15.

Correct me if I'm wrong - I *think* that only applies to swimming in lakes & ponds with contact lenses. My eye doctor told me NEVER to do that!! But pools & water parks with tons of chlorine in them would be safe - "critters" cannot survive in water with chlorine. But anyways, that is a truly DISGUSTING story! Ugh! I don't even want to think about it!

I wear contact lenses, and in August I was at Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, and had no problems with them. I even did Summit Plummit with them in.

Yeah, that's what I thought too! *bleh* But my doc specifically asked me about pool swimming (I mentioned my upcoming trip to make conversation).
