Contact Lens Wearers- What are you doing about your lens solution??

Being the tight wad that I am, I always buy the Wal Mart knock off of Renu. :thumbsup2

I've been using AOsept for about a year and I haven't been able to find it anywhere the last couple of months. I've even asked the pharmacist and they didn't know why.

I also started using Bare Escentuals makeup and not sure if that is getting in my eyes and causing the dryness.

I started using Bare Escentuals last week and I was wondering if it was causing my eyes to be dryer than normal or if it was just my allergies.

Since I couldn't find AOsept, I bought some Moisture Complete today. Hopefully that will help the dryness.

I have used Clear Care for over a year and it has worked great! However, I noticed that within the last few weeks I can't find it anywhere!! Ugh! I have to call the eye dr and ask what is going on and what I should switch to.
Good luck

I *think* Clear Care is hard to find because the demand for the product has escalated due to there being no more Aosept.

Ditto here. I love the stuff and can't stand other products. It disappeared and I couldn't find it anywhere. A week or so ago I saw it at Wal-Mart and bough like 5 bpxes of it. If you find out what's going on with it, please let me know.

I have used Clear Care for several years now and for me it works the best at getting my lenses really clean. But about a month ago I could not find it anywhere. I wrote to CIBA Vision and asked them about it, this is the email they sent me-

Thank you for your inquiry. We would like to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced in locating the Clear Care. We are currently experiencing delays in the production of our Clear Care products and have worked diligently to return to full production as quickly as possible. At this time we anticipate Clear Care will be available at major retailers, such as Wal-Mart, Target, and CVS. Eckerds/Brooks, Rite-Aid, and K-Mart should be receiving additional product this week.

Again, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you again for contacting CIBA Vision.

Kind Regards,
CIBA Vision Consumer Relations

Well, I'm glad to know WHY the Aosept has disappeared. It's been driving me crazy. I've been using the Optifree stuff because I got a free sample at the eye dr's when I got my new contacts. It's ok but I prefer the Aosept, too.

Do any of you still wear the non-disposable type contacts? They always look at me like I have two heads at the eye dr's office. The disposable kind are just too flimsy for me--I've had contacts for almost 30 years and I like the regular, old-fashioned soft contacts. :teeth:

Yep I used Aosept too - it is the only thing that I can use - my eyes are so sensative - I did try the Moisture Lock but I didn't like it. I finally found Clear Care at Walmart this week and bought a couple boxes -If I known it was so hard to find I would have bought more. I will have to pick some up everytime I see it because it really is the only thing that I can use with no discomfort. Good luck everyone looking for it.

People take their lenses out? :confused3 These have been in for over a 7 weekes.... ;)

i work for an eye doctor, and we had to pull all of our B&L stuff and had to call some people. people are calling us like crazy and we have had a few people come in with the fungus. One lady was already talking about sueing. We had to pull all of renu, and complete soultions. When the b&l rep came in to give us her speach and to get all the stuff, she said it was only the new stuff that just came out

Shoot, I just realized that when I was on vacation 2 weeks ago I was using the RuNu that is in question. No sysptoms for me though, thank God but I still freaked when I realized it. My eyes are itchy but my allergies are driving me nuts!!!!

Yeah, I couldn't find it at Costco last week, and I thought, well, that's weird, and then I saw this thread and figure that's why. I still have about 3/4 of a large bottle left, I'm just going to have to be extra careful not to splosh any over the sides as I fill the cup! :p The article I found online said that stock should be in by April, well, hmm, haven't seen it yet.

If you look at the bottle of aosept it says hydrogen peroxide 3%, sodium chloride (salt), and potassium sorbate (preservative). That's it! If you look at the generic hydrogen peroxide the bottle says, 3% hydrogen peroxide.

Ya gotta wonder what we're paying the other 8 dollars for. I will say that I had to rinse the lenses really well (I use optifree to rinse only) because the lenses felt a little odd, like I had gotten water in my eyes from the shower-I'm guessing it was because of the lack of salt. It wasn't *great* to use the generic, but it didn't bother my eyes, either.

Ok. I put my lens in the 3 % peroxide with the Aosept disk. It foamed up like crazy! Maybe that will do the trick. I'm hoping it will remove that stubborn film that has built up on them. I guess it's protein deposits. Maybe I'll soak them in the Opti-free after I rinse them off. That probably has a little salt in it and my lens won't feel strange if I'd like to wear them before my eye doctor appt.. Thanks for the tip! :)

Even if my lens were ok, I'd probably still take a break from wearing them. The pollen is terrible, just got over a sinus infection, and I have full blown allergy symptoms. Ugh.

Anyway, you are right. The Aosept is very expensive. If it's mostly peroxide, it does make you wonder what the other 8 bucks are for!

I use the boston advance stuff my contacts are hard though!

I have soft lenses and only use Clear Care. DH had a protien issue and hard contacts - Aosept was the only thing that kept them semi clean (it was such a problem he can't wear contacts anymore).

I haven't seen a problem in finding it anywhere. Our target seems to always have it. I'm sorry that it is so hard to find but it is the best.
