I promised my DD11 that I would ask this. Will my DD be ok wearing contacts when she is on thrill rides like RNR, EE, SM, and BTMRR?

I know nothing about contacts as I don't even wear glasses, so I'm at the mercy of those in the 'know'.
TIA!

I wear contacts all the time. There will be no problems. She will be fine.

This is assuming soft contacts. (Do they even still sell hard contacts?)

DD and I have both worn contacts on those rides. I don't see why there'd be a problem. Glasses, on the other hand, can fall off. So, if I am wearing glasses rather than contacts I may remove them (moreso on RNR because there are hoops).

I have never had a problem with the contacts flying out on any ride. Splash Mountain is a tough one because you will and do get wet-I close my eyes, but you still can get water in your eyes. TT you can get dirt in your eyes-I keep my sunglasses on for protection. They tend to dry out a bit getting whipped around in the wind on BTMRR & EE, but just bring some drops or I even carry a small bottle of Renu with me at all times. I usually carry a spare pair of disposables just in case.

I have worn contacts for about 20 years now and I ride all of those rides. The contacts will be fine. They will not fall out. They might dry out a bit. You might want to take some contact safe eye refreshing drops with you incase she feels that her eyes are dry.

no issues with contacts on any rides at disney with the possible exception of the waterparks because sometimes waterslides will blow the contact out of your eye if you get hit in the eye with water

Yes, they are soft lenses. She's wore her glasses last year because she was afraid of losing her contacts on the rides. So, she asked me to ask the experts on the Disboard because she knew she would get good information :)

I will tell her when she gets home from school today. She will be happy!
She will still bring her glasses, just in case.

Same here. My glasses are a pain on trips. I like to bring my glasses and the contact lens case with me just in case my eyes get too tired or I lose a lens.

I much prefer wearing contact vs glasses when riding rides. I have worn glasses since middle school and am now 32. I use to wear a fanny pack and put my glasses in there for rides! It made life so much easier after getting contacts!! No worries!!!

If she has trouble with her lenses falling out, her lenses may not fit right. I've never had trouble with mine falling out on rides... maybe get a little dry (from the speed of the ride) but never at Disney.

Another lens user checking in! Agree with the may dry out a little so carry that small bottle of renu. They won't fall out......
BUT - make sure she brings a spare pair with her. You never know when one might tear in half while cleaning. I always carry a spare pair when traveling - never had to use it but I like knowing I have them just in case! I can't stand wearing my glasses!!!!!

Ditto on the drying out... My eyes dry out anyway when I wear my contacts (becuase I don't wear them daily - maybe 1-2-3x week for 10+ hours, but I do wear them daily on vacations) so I use eye drops at least 1x when I'm wearing them... I always bring a bottle of "blink" brand eye drops - they are the BEST!!!

I just wanted to add that on rides like RnR, Space and Everest she might get teary eyed, I always do from my dry contacts suddenly getting exposed to cool fast air. I have to blink alot more on these 3 and look like I've been crying when I get off so if she wears mascara make sure its waterproof.

I guess i am the odd ball LOL i had my contact pop out before on a ride, not one at Disney though. I have lasik now :)

Definitely pack the glasses as well as a spare pair of contacts (don't forget to mark the spare packets L & R so she knows which one's for which eye!) I always pack these in my toiletry bag because the chlorine (or whatever Disney uses) in the pool gets my eyes red and irritated. So, after our night-time dip and before bed, I'll get the contacts in their case and put my glasses on.

Can you swim with contacts in? She's always taken hers out to swim. We're both in the still learning stage. She just got contacts last December. She's really responsible :)

We do plan on bringing a spare pair of contacts too. They just rip too easily.

Rock'n'Roller Coaster makes my eyes tear during the very beginning so I close my eyes just in case my contacts decide to go flying out.

I also recommend bringing eye drops. I have sensitive eyes and use those single dosage eye drops which are the perfect size for pockets.

I wear soft disposable lenses and had absolutely no problem on BTMRR and SM, didn't try the others on your list (too chicken).

If she's new to contacts and/or she wears hard lenses, I'd have her put her glasses in the family backpack. I used to wear semihard lenses and they tended to pop out when they got dry, such as you would feel on a fast moving ride. Plus, there's all that wincing and all.....
