can anyone give some input on these... Narcoossee's, Citricos and Bongos Cuban Cafe?

DH and I are trying to squeeze in a quick trip in January(adults only!!) and want to try some new places that we wouldn't normally take the kids. Are these places that we would need a definite PS or would we be able to plan as we go? Thanks for any info!

Have only tried Narcoosees of those three. It's been quite a few years but I remember it being crowded and noisy. No recollections of the food.

I went to Narcoosee's last March - it was fairly busy; I'd recommend a PS. Personally, I didn't think it was that great, but the poor service I received may have had something to do with that - I've read very good reviews from others. I will say that the seafood chowder was FABULOUS - huge bowl, very rich, really enough for a meal by itself if you're not a big eater. The ambience is nice but not formal, and if you time your meal right, you can watch the Electric Water Pageant through the huge picture windows that cover the entire wall.

It's been longer since I went to Citrico's (I think it was my November 2001 trip), but it was EXCELLENT. It wasn't very full when I was there, and I've heard the same since, so you could probably get away without a PS that night. Service and food were both great - I loved the shrimp with feta and white wine appetizer. Atmosphere is formal - probably the most formal of anywhere I've been on property other than V&A's.

Haven't been to Bongo's, so I can't help you there.

We had dinner in Citrico's 2 weeks ago and if you get a 7:00 pm PS you'll get to see the Wishes fireworks at the Magic Kingdom from your table. Bongo's is another of our favorites but they don't take PS's. It's first come first serve. Sorry, we've never tried Narcoossee's Have a great trip.

If you've had any exposure to authentic Cuban food, then Bongo's may be disappointing. But for Americanized Cuban, it is okay. I've only been there once and the service wasn't too great. If you are looking for something in the DD area, Portobello would be an excellent choice.

Narcoossee's was pretty good, but didn't leave us floored or anything. Have you thought about California Grill? Excellent view and very good food.

I think Narcoossee's is fabulous. my wife and I go there whenever we can. We bring the kids sometimes and sometimes we do not. The last time we were there it was incredible. The chowder is excellent and the Crab cakes are very unique. To disagree with some of the other postes here, I was floored and so was a very good friend of mine who has eaten there. He is a food critic for a very well known magazine. also another freind of mine is a writer for Zagat and also said it is relly been kicked up a notch over the past year or so. He said the service is lacking sometimes, but overall it is a great place to dine. it is noisy and probably would not be the best spot for a romantic getaway when crowded, (which it is about 300 days out of the year I hear)
When you go there, just ask for the Executive Chef. We are going there again on Thanksgiving and are really looking forward to it. make sure you ask for the Executive Chef, His name is TJ Peck, he has been there for almost 2 years I think?? The food has improved from what it used to be like 3-5 years ago. The cast is friendly, but count on a wait even with priority. It seems some of the other customers like to sit at tables all night long and not get up...but the wait is worth it..good luck and I hope this helps..looking forward to it myself..in fact when we return we will post a review for Thanksgiving and the rest of the weekend we will be dining at Disney....

Hi,

I went to Citricos last May & it was great!!!! The staff & food are excellent. A nice relaxing atomosphere! Haven't tried the other two. Have fun!!!

Thank you for all of the replies. But wouldn't you know it, I get my hopes up after getting the go ahead from DH for our quick get away...and work has pulled all vacations for the first quarter. Looks like we'll be taking the kids next time we go. But will definitely try to find a way to sqeeze these in. Thanks everyone.
