Hi,

We are considering renting points for a stay at Boardwalk Villas. We have some questions as to how this works. How do you check availability? How do you pay? How do you go about finding someone to rent you the points? We are only looking for a studio for 5 nights, I think it would be 55 points, is this too small and amount for anyone to want to bother with? I am sure there are others but that is a start. We are Disney veterans but have usually stayed at a moderate and with the lack of discount codes now, it seems this option may actually be cheaper or at least about the same. Thanks in advance for your responses.

First try the rent/trade boards and find some one that is willing to rent you points. That owner will have to check availability for you and book if you want. Payments are handled differently by different owners. Some may ask for 100%, some 50%, others less with final payment due before your departure.
Payments are usually made by check, money order, or even paypal in some cases. 55 points is not to small. It may even be easier to find some one with 55 points rather than 255 points. Good luck and I hope this helped...

Ditto. Go to the rent/trade board. You will get several responses. It is a honor system. Don't be afraid to ask for referals. Also, look at there posts and make sure they have been around for awhile.

Good Luck.

You didn't say when you wanted to go, but you quoted 55 points. That would be a Standard Studio during Dream season.

A Preferred Studio during Dream season would be 65 points. Standard studios are popular because they're fewer points, so be sure you book early.

Thanks, everyone. Yes we are considering a standard from June 5-10. Do you think it would be to late to book?

No, not too late - especially if you ae willing to stay at any of the WDW DVC properties. I would expect that some of the smaller resorts are pretty well booked by now, but it never hurts to try. Give the owner a first, second and maybe even a third choice.

Best wishes -

To late to book a standard view at BWVs, probably. Not too late to book if you aren't picky about the resort.

Standard views often go before the seven month window opens up. And when they don't, they usually aren't available without waitlisting, something owners don't usually like to do for renters.

Unless someone has canceled, we were not able to get a second studio standard view at BWV for these dates (I have one booked, but I needed two, so I booked one standard view and one preferred view).

I am not waitlisted (had to borrow points, so if it came through I wouldn't be able to return those points anyway, so I am keeping the preferred view).

Good Luck!
