I'm just wondering how far in advance I'd need to request/finalize the deal? I'm looking at January, but won't be able to confirm dates until possibly August. Would that be too late to secure a 2-bedroom at BWV?

Thanks.

just realized this is probably the wrong board...should be DVC Misc?

You're probably OK, provided you're not talking about the 1st week in January. Beginning with week 2, things slow down quite a bit, and with a 5-month lead time for your reservation there should still be availability. You might not be able to get a Standard View room since they go early due to their lower point requirement, and possibly not be able to get a Boardwalk view room as they generally go first due to their popularity. But there's a good probablilty you could get the regular preferred villa at BWV. Again it will depend somewhat on your dates.

If you're flexible and can stay at any DVC resort, meaning it doesn't absolutely have to be BWV, then it's a guarantee you'll be able to get your villa, somewhere, calling in August for a January reservation.

Thats definitely taken some stress out of this!

Depending on the time you are looking you may be okay. If you are thinking of going during the marathon or over the MLK it may be iffy. DO not expect to get a standard or BW view and you may have a chance.

I wold also start looking for a second third and fourth choices as well...

This is the correct board for questions about renting. :)

I do not think you will have a hard time getting a 2 bedroom unit at the BWV in January if you wait until August to commit. As Slakk suggests, plan on the Preferred view - Pool/Garden category.

I also agree that if you are planning on going during marathnon time, there could be a problem. MLK week is not quite as popular as marathon and the rest of the month is relatively easy.

Keep in mind that the 7 month booking window for January opens in June and that the longer the window is open, the more likely it is the rooms will book up.

Good luck -

are they more difficult to secure rather than standard 2-bedroom? While the 2-bedroom would be nice, 2 studios would do the job. (two boys who won't share a bed *sigh*!)

No, the standard studios are not easier to secure than the standard two bedrooms. Both are difficult unless you can make arrangements 10 -11 months in advance.

It is unlikely that any standard view room will be available after the 7 month window opens - even for January. Most times of the year, owners book up the standard view rooms long before the 7 month window opens.

Best wishes -

You should also know that there are no connecting studios at DVC. If those two boys are of an age where they need an adult in the room with them, two studios will mean you and your husband are in seperate rooms for vacation.

Fortunately, they don't need our supervison... they're 18 and 20... then again, they probably DO need supervison!

Thank you all for the replies - they've given me lots to think about.
