My family is considering a visit to Disney/Universal/Florida beaches for this coming Christmas. Normally, my husband, 2 boys, and I travel in June. We will be joined by a variety of other family members, aged 8-64. At this point I don't have dates of travel, and expect that some in our party may have different arrival/departure dates.

To give you an idea of what we like: We've stayed at AllStarMovies and thought it was just fine for $99 and at Hard Rock Hotel for $125 which was fabulous with all of the ease of movement to the parks and those GREAT BEDS!!!! When we've stayed off-property, we went very cheap and hated the long, busy commute to the parks.

All of our previous visits have given us the luxury of our own car, but on this trip, flying in is most likely.

Any Christmastime veterans have some advice for us?

Spent 15 days from Dec 20th to Jan 4 this past year....I'd say On Site would be a must during this time... I definately would plan to do EE at MK on the days it is offered...This past year was the highest attendance that WDW has had in about 12 years....from Dec 25 to Dec 31 MK was closed at approximately 12pm.....and a few days a second park also closed soon after...

Realize that there will be lots of lines at the rides but if you get up early and get in the parks you can accomplish quite a bit before the parks get over crowded....

The decorations are breathtaking....I loved Christmas/New Years at WDW but I think once is enough...we are doing early Dec this year and enough the decorations but not the overwhelming crowds....

Enjoy your trip...

when do the crowds come in for christmas???

The first two weeks of December are the lowest crowds of the year at WDW. All the decorations are up and the xmas parade is at MK in the evenings (certain evenings). We've been here twice for this. The kids are off two weeks for Xmas break, so they made up their homework then .. it worked great.

I only say this, because maybe you could go then instead. Hotel prices are lower too (they usually offer discounts below rack rate for this time of year on-site). I know the crowds are very high during the rest of December. Have fun whatever you do!!

i like December, i am headed down the 15th -27th i take my dtr out of school get her homework the crowds are low the week before
