Considering canceling August trip following FL handling of Trayvon Martin murder.

In addition to treating him for his broken nose and head laceration, they must have also gotten him a shower and change of clothes eh? Every broken nose I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot, left a lot of blood behing. On your shirt, your face, and dried up all over you. Head lacerations also bleed profusely, due to the tightness of the skin. Due to hippa they cannot release his records of health info, but you can bet your bottom dollar they will be subpeonad. He could also voluntarily release them, if he wanted to prove his injusried were documented. He uh, hasnt done that though has he. Hmmmmm.

Zimmerman only needs to prove to a jury. Plus, he probably has a lawyer and the lawyer is controlling the moves, as he/she should.

Right now people are on a witch hunt! People are posting addresses for Zimmerman or people who have a Zimmerman name all because they want revenge. This is not going to end well and more people are going to get hurt. It is so sad that he is being tried by the public with no trial.

Anyway, I think people just need to let things go through the process and not escalate the situation. Some murderers are not even arrested for 6 months or a year after the death.

I hear you ... i have a trip planned also and am thinking it over. The stand your ground law needs to be changed...
There is another case in florida where a Vet was murdered in front of his 8 year old daughter and the shooter is using the syg defense....

it is a license to kill..IMO

IMO, people have the right to defend themselves. Don't they?

Pshaw. They don't kill you - you wake up in a hotel tub, covered in ice, and with a fresh scar where your right kidney used to be. I know its true, because I read it on the internet somewhere. :thumbsup2

Unless, this happens twice..:scared1:

I agree. This is where I think many have gone too far. Although I feel that much of this will go away if they arrest Z even if it was on a manslaughter charge. If he is innocent allow a jury to decide. What I don't like is bringing harm to innocent people and that's what listing phone numbers and addresses can do (more specifically wrong addresses and numbers). The wanted dead or alive posters - are ridiculous. I understand the fury. I do. But not that way. I also agree that some arrest take time.

On the other end, I can’t understand how an individual can defend Zimmerman. Whether or not he was within the law is one thing, but this situations did not warrant the death of a teenager.

I think it is a sad tradegy that this young man lost his life but you cant assume what the situation was...not yet. The facts of the case need to be sorted through. I think that this story is going to wind up somewhere in the middle, Zimmerman was overzealous, Travyon may have been agressive once approached, did he derserve to die, mostly likely no, the ADULT in the situation probably should have handled it differently but we were not there. I think you are accurate that this will probably be a manslaughter charge bc I dont think Zimmerman had intent, but I want to wait and see and I wish others would as well.

I think the majority of people are not defending Zimmerman. I guess I just see it a different way.

I don't think I agree. He called in a "suspicious" person. Then went "after" him despite the police told him to stay put. Why? Cause he was gonna get himself a big bad gang banger. I think he ran up to Tray, attacked him, and then shot him. Sounds like his phone conversation with his girlfriend corroborates that. This would make her a witness to the crime.

The victim was walking down the street talking on his phone.

I think OP's little "boycott" is nonsense, but I think that when this case is treated properly that he will be charged with at least murder 2. At least I hope he will.

We don't know if Zimmerman went after Martin. He said "OK" when the dispatched said he didn't need to do that. It has been reported that in Zimmerman's statement he said he was on his way back to his SUV when the altercation with Martin took place.

My buddy lives on the house as you go onto Isle of Scillly. You must live next to Doc Rivers then. I'm over there all the time. The lady who co owns nascar is re doing a house next to my buddy. I live very close to there.

Oh, um, er, yeah we're "neighbors" in the sense that we might shop at the same Publix or I might see him drive by the dog park. I don't actually live near one of those particular lakes.

Many people are stressing the fact that Zimmerman was following Martin and, therefore, discounting Zimmerman's story that he was returning to his vehicle when he was attacked by Martin. There is some logic to this position as a person being followed would typically continue home to safety and avoid a confrontation. However, Zimmerman's call to the police suggests that Martin's actions weren't typical. According to that call, Martin did double back on Zimmerman at least once. It is not a stretch to imagine that it happened again while Zimmerman was returning to his vehicle.

Or Trayvon was hiding, and waiting to confront Zimmerman and ask him why he was following him. Or Trayvon was not walking home because he didn't want Zimmerman to follow him to his house, and instead went a different route and ran into Zimmerman. All there is is Zimmerman's account of what happened, and I doubt he is going to say anything that doesn't make himself look like the victim.

Sure it's Zimmerman's account, but it was his account while on the initial call to the police before anything happened. There's absolutely no reason to doubt anything that was said on this initial police call.

It is a free country. If you or anyone else are so upset by the Sanford Police Department's actions in the Martin/Zimmerman case that it makes you want to boycott the state, that is your choice and your right. But I am personally not considering taking the same approach.

If you are looking around, you can find mishandling, or use of criminal defenses you don't agree with, in cases in every state, it's not just Florida. There are likely quite a few in New York, too, where the New York dollars came from. Going the boycott the state route seems kind of like the person who said after the Sandusky thing broke that they'd never hire a graduate of Penn State to work for them. Spreading blame for the actions of one or a few people to a large group of tangentally related individuals.

What about Travon's phone call with the girlfriend. Are you purposely ignoring her testimony. She said Trayvon was walking fast (his words to her), she told him to run. Trayvon told her he noticed someone following her. So he hid under his hoodie. Z's account Travon was running. According to the GF, Trayvon asks moment later (after he thought he lost the guy), "Why are you following me", and Zimmerman said, "What are you doing around here". Seconds later she hears noises (possible scuffle) the phone drops. The phone went dead. It seems to me, the two men came face to face. Either by accident or purpose. I don't think Zimmerman asked him "What are you doing around here" with his back turned (this doesn't make sense) - walking toward his car or not. Why would he have his back toward him. Z didn't ID himself. Nothing. She also said she thinks he was pushed because his headset fell/dropped. We don't know that - she was on a phone.

You are citing two different phone conversations with the girlfriend. The first conversation occurred at 18:54 and included the 'walk fast' comment. The second began at 19:12. This is when she overheard the two men asking one another questions and being disconnected. This accounts for Zimmerman's statement that Martin was walking toward him 'checking him out', and the very small time frame between Zimmerman's call to the police and when the altercation must have begun.

NOPE - this is one phone call. She was on the phone when Trayvon noticed that Z was following him, so he put his hoodie on, When he walked fast (or Ran) when Trayvon asked Z "Why are you following me" and when Z said "What are you doing around here". She heard this all. Listen to the link you can hear her yourself. Don't take my word for it.

Phone Records show she called Trayvon at 7:12 p.m., and spoke to him for four minutes. Zimmerman's call to police was at 7:11. The Police were on the scene 5 minutes later.

She might be called as a witness if this comes to trial but she might not. Since their call was not recorded, there is no record of the actual conversation. It would be torn apart by opposing counsel.
